I have often thought this was a great representation of what happened to them after The Sing Off. They all moved to LA, ready to start their careers and take advantage of the recording contract they won, but the contract was pulled. They created their own success by recording songs, many of them on the couch in one of their three apartments, and posting them to RUclips. They relied on a sponsor to create this video, and recorded and filmed their Grammy winning Daft Punk video in Kevin and Avi's apartment for a total of about $400. They created their own starship, as it were. They worked so hard and didn't give up.
This was one of the earliest videos they did after the ‘prize contract’ they won was pulled. I think I read somewhere that Scott’s dentist was a sponsor for it (hence the teeth whitening product placement).
