Costs have gone up so much the past couple of decades.. The average individual is far worse off economically now, as opposed to 30 or 40 years ago.. Yes, wages have gone up significantly, but costs have gone up much more!

If you don't start saving and buy a house soon...you are going to work untill you die to pay it off...Houses are expensive in NZ...So go figure it out...there is no way you will be able to rent one come retirement...I know a lot of South Africans who walk into these traps...buy fancy 4x4s ... like these one...have personal trainers...go on expensive holidays....and then....boom!! Reality strike !! And its too late....Good luck !!!

Yeah I know, luckily I have a great job, and my own business etc. Will buy in the next 2 years, and I already bought a ranger lol so not worried at all. But I do agree that the cost of living is a big problem for the majority of people coming over and you really need to be smart about finances.
