As a Professional chef this is an EXCELLENT tutorial on basic piping. I was recently tasked with making the US Marine Medic Birthday cake. I realized I have not decorated a cake in years on a professional level. Only kids birthday cakes. I was so glad to find these excellent tutorials on bordering and flower making. Great refresher course. I knocked it right out and enjoyed it immensely doing so. A great break from the savory side of the kitchen. Thanks for your time and simple way of explaining it. Great work! Cheers mate.

Oh, how very exciting!! I would have been a nervous wreck!! SO happy that it went so well for you. How very proud you must have been, and finding out that you still had it in ya' to make a big important impression. AND what a nice compliment to pay to the Chef. IF I remember correctly (I believe this video??), someone from Le Cordon Bleu's school was not quite as complimentary to him, so I was so glad to read your comment. May God bless you in all of your endeavors!

Another winner, Chef Alan, though I expected nothing less from you. You are so amazing to watch at your craft and so easy to learn from! I am so grateful to you for taking the time to make these videos. QUALITY videos! I was raised by a mother who baked and decorated wedding cakes right in our home (from the double oven to our dining room table to the church!) in the 60s to make money. We always knew that we NEVER came in the back door running in case mama had a cake in the oven! lol! Anyway, I recently pulled out her supplies that I ended up with when she passed and decided to give this a try. I'm learning S-L-O-W-L-Y...but, well, you can imagine! Tomorrow I am going to make up a batch of your buttercream to pipe roses, put you on my kitchen table, so that you can tel me just what to do, and practice all day!! And we will make beautiful flowers together, right? Right? Sorry to carry on. Thank you for caring about us...and that's why we follow you! You are the best! God bless...

But Chef Alan is so patient and detail, is very useful and I will watch it again when I need check over. Love your video and thanks for the teaching.

Thanks Chef! I've just spent almost a full week watching everyone of your classes and made my first decorated cake for my birthday, which was Saturday and Sunday (I'm a leap year baby). I wish that I could share a picture of the outcome, because I'm very pleased. So, thank you, thank you! You're terrific!

Thank you! I already have friends ready to order from me for their next cake needs :-) I had done the basic shell for a bottom border, the lattice on top half, and on the other half I created the vine, with pretty flowers that I made, and using leaves and tendrils. I colored all of my icing and even did the two tone like you showed us, with blue and white for the borders on a purple cake, and the reverse shell top border. I LOVE IT! The only thing I didn't touch on yet, was the side border... Next task. Look forward to your next video.
