Excellent, informative and very interesting. Thanks for all the work you do, saving us a great deal of time and money testing all the paints and equipment.
Very good! They've put together a lot of colors that are rare to find and in a base that they were never available in. I've seen some modelers using old models from when they were kids and trying to eyeball mix some of those vintage colors. Pretty interesting for sure. I really appreciate the primer collage and it shows the subtle difference that primer color can make. I'm looking forward to seeing how the chrome performs.
As a starter, I'm just getting it all together. Still modding a Iwata compressor by adding a reserve tank to keep the compressor cooler. I'm getting closer to the finish. The final fitting on the added regulator won't match up even though both claim to be 1/4" NPT threads. Must be a build up of tolerances. Anyhow, I'm going to try to chase the threads today with a tap an die to help get this final stage complete. The foldable spray booth is next adding LED lighting and a separate switch for them. My first project, a WWII MB Jeep. Seems simple, but I'll find out. haha
Hi Robert as i live in spain.I saw the announcement from AMMO about this paints, and i am glad you do the test. I hope to get today or monday by post my first shipment of those Cobra paints. At least i can see now how the paintmaster Barbatos Rex is thinning and applying the paint. They are nice big bottles, a bit more cheaper than the Tamiya here when you calculate the amount you get. Have a nice weeekend and thanks for the time, money and efford you put in every video
Looks great! In a video by the manufacture, they recommend 3 coats over 3 day and a drying the paint for 24 hours before applying the 2K. Love to see you test a Ferrari colour.
Un gran maestro panadero 🧑🏽🍳 Yo soy consumidor de pan dulce de corazón ♥️ Gracias por mantener este arte de hacer una obra que no todo panadero lo tiene.
I love my PS-290. Looking forward to seeing your trigger AB. The biggest problem I have with Ammo by Mig is they are very proud of their product and price it that way. There are numerous acrylic manufacturer's (my preference is Vallejo, even though some people don't like that line) that offer equivalent products. Thank you for your recommendation on the Rhino Mask. I got it last year and it's one of the few I can wear that won't fog up my glasses. Hope all is well with your wife. Have a great day.
Been waiting for this review, thank you. I'm definitely interested in these paints since I do alot of car models. Can you thin with Mr. Color leveling thinner or do you strongly suggest just using the alcohol?
Another update. The compressor is almost complete, waiting for a cutoff ball valve. Stopped by the local Good Will store yesterday, got a small book case ( one of those Ikea ones) need to cut it shorter to fit in . Do that today and place all the stuff that I got so far and give me room on the table. I'll sent a pic later.
Speaking of acrylic paints, have you heard about AK interactive Dual Exo acrylic paint line? It has really ambitious claims, they say it's more durable and has better adhesion than their regular 3rd gen acrylics and can even be painted on bare plastic. And the color lineup is made for Gundams and other sci-fi models, would be interesting to see if their durability holds up, as that's a major factor for using lacquers when painting kits that will be handled. 🤔
I know the paint line. My friends at Gundam Pros carrys them. Problem is they cost $10 each. I need to get the cash for them so I can test them for you
Hey, what did you say was the procedure to get your hardener with the first batch that has the eye droppers? I just looked at mines and all of them crystallized lol
These are definitely going to come in handy for fans of older models and non-automotive modelers looking for some unique shades of colors to bring something new to their projects. They seem like a good lineup, just not one very focused on "standards".
That’s really cool that it’s a water based acrylic, but the lacquer 2K would have made me think it wouldn’t be able to go over acrylic. Is it normal to put lacquer over acrylic paint?
Yeah once it's dry you won't have a problem. 2K is usually a urethane based paint which makes it a bit different than regular lacquer but once base paint is dry you can put any top coat on it
Robert, any update on how your wife is? Also, I thought you'd really like the way they labeled these paints - painting gunpla with race car livery colors = this is perfect!
I just saw at the end you got a bottle of the chrome Outlaw if you can get a few colors chrome not a good paint to test if you can't get a d I think I have a few extra paint I can send you .I have a few other paints coming I will send you they are special paint from Japan they are a Customix for a couple friends of mine that are competition model builders. They have their paints custom mixed for the model they're working on .the paint are the best You can get I will Share some for your collection. You won't believe how good these paints are. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK I TRY AND EMAIL YOU THIS WEEKEND 👍
Additionally i have over 100 different colors of enamel paints so could really use some tips on how to avoid brush strokes on large surfaces, type of brush ,width , material etc . I am sure others may not have an area to usespray paint . I do have a few lacquers but mostly Enamels . Thank you .
Cool. Thanks! I saw they have a yellow for the corvette race car. Wish there was an alternative to 2k. Thanks for all your videos. They’re very helpful.
I really enjo your videos . Could you pleasedo a tutorial on brush painting with Enamel (Testors and MCW) as i have no place to spray or airbrush at home . Used to be ok to good at it back 35 years ago but i am pickier now . Really need a way to use brushes and i have at least 100 different types but did not have much success with my firsf attempt on aa car body , small parts seem ok .Thank you
Have you thought of starting another channel showing your actual builds? I know I'd like to see what you do with the metric crapton of paints you buy, and others probably do too. These paints actually look pretty nice to me, Euro car color choice bias aside. Those older paint matches are probably hard to find outside of this line tbf, so maybe they decided to do that before the easier to find modern car colors.
My rule of thumb is the higher the number the better. I mixed some Tamiya paint recently and it went on terrible, thought I bought a bad jar but I noticed I thinned it using 70%. I switched to 91% and it was perfect. If it's pure then you shouldn't have a problem
Hi, these paints seem really easy to use, especially clear 2K. So just one coat is enough for clear? Without adding thinner? Is there little risk of having orange peel? Thank you.
2K clears are hard to beat. Spray on perfect every time. If you have a large needle like a 0.5.mm then you don't need to thin it. A few drops of thinner for smaller but most of the time you don't need to thin. Once you use 2K you will never use another clear again
@@barbatosrex9473 Ok, but what is the secret to having a mirror? With others I get orange peel or too much thickness. Are there fewer risks with this? This is what I would like to understand. I see that you pass it first lightly and without waiting heavier in various passages. Thank you.
Awesome video Robert! Ive been waiting for this video since you first showed these paints. I did a spoon test with a couple colors and cleared with your 2K clear! Awesome!! Thank you. I do agree with you on some of the colors being a little generic, the interior colors look pretty nice though!
Those are good paints the colors help Robert, I tell my wife you can't buy one Bottle of paint. You need to buy the whole set .I been Serious Collecting Paint sets for over 20 years now. . Try testing some different Thinners with them try 3r Generation paint thinner. Try and get some 3rd Generation thinner if you don't have any get the big Bottles and Experiment with that. I think You'll like that thinner a lot . Have you tried Outlaw paints yet good paint just got the set good paint.
So, thin the paint 2:1 and use a .? @ ? Psi. .3 @ 20 psi? The more videos I watch, the more confusing it gets. Also, where did you get your rhino mask? Have a peaceful weekend.
wow omg Robbert those colors are cool gotta see the rest😋still have ta get your 2k line and the lot🤣😁🤩only got so little funds for such but there's always Christmas🤪🤗scooter d😎ps very good stuff i love wathing you paint cars👈👍
Would love to know the source that they are using for these - there is no way they're making them themselves - nobody in the hobby industry has the resources to do that. Several model paint makers use Lechler products, an automotive paint company based in Italy similar to PPG or Glasurit. Surprised that they make more of the fact that they are odorless than they do to let you know that they are still toxic - you have to hunt for it but it says in their materials "this product is toxic so it is advisable to apply it in a well-ventilated area and use an appropriate respirator". That makes their statement of "thanks to its acrylic formulation Cobra Motor paints have no smell, so they can be used at home with no problem" almost misleading. They need to let you know what's in it that makes it toxic and what type of respirator is "appropriate". Shocked that there is no sign of a Material Safety Data Sheet (safety data sheet in the EU) anywhere on their site - especially for the 2K clear which is highly toxic even in tiny amounts.
The green color was great, but I don’t think the result, with the 2K cover, is as convincing or maybe realistic, as an enamel. Put another way, I think you could get at least as good or better result, with less effort, with an enamel, assuming you can find the right color.
Great video! In case you're interested, the car on Phtalo Green bottle is a Renault 4CV, built from 1946 - 1961
Ahh, I owned a Renault LeCar, I should have known
Excellent, informative and very interesting. Thanks for all the work you do, saving us a great deal of time and money testing all the paints and equipment.

Nice paint. Love that airbrush. Little more hazzle to clean compared with a brush with the cup on top

Great vid. So are they pure acrylics?
Well there's no flame logo on the jar so I would say they are a pure acrylic

These would certainly be great for us in the north who have to paint indoors through the winter months. I’ll be looking at these for sure.
Mig by Ammo! The best acrylics on the market! Only downside they're kinda hard to get, Great review love it.

That green looks great. I can't wait to hear more about your airbrush.
Considering the number of paints your getting though you might want to look at eventually changing to an overlapping sliding float shelf system.

Did your 4 E's broke down?

Not broken, it's off to the side. Sometimes it's easier to reach for the Typhoon. It'll be in a upcoming video

Does isopropyl alcohol have to be 90% to dilute them? If it's pure, isn't it good?
Thank you.

Enamels are the strongest paint. They brush good too
