I started using Mr. Surfacer a couple years ago and have used nothing else since. We call Mr. Leveling thinner "unicorn tears because it's like magic in a bottle. I thins everything and makes it sprays super smooth.
Hey J, Thanks, you are very correct it is awesome primer so the name does make sense lol. I do like it and will be using more often. Have you tried the Tamiya Surfacer primer?
@@Mannysscalemodeling I have. When I first started building I use Tamiya's fine primer in the rattle can as I only used tamiya rattle cans back then. It is the exact same stuff as in the jar, you just have to thin the jar stuff. I thin it 50/50 with Mr. Leveling Thinner and it sprays really nice too. I'd say close if not on par with the Mr. Surfacer. Tamiya doesn't do a black though and I find I go through a lot of black primer.
Cool! Ive always used Plasti Kote primer (hard toget now around here) so trying out the Mr Surfacer and the Tamiya im going to stick with them now. I was going to ask you about the jars lol. I will probably switch to the jars too. Thanks man! I do like black primer too. @@JHartModelworks
Hey Johnny, when I did that test i used a .35 needle i believe. i was using around 18-20psi. my opinion is better at 20psi. Definitely better with the leveling thinner my opinion. Nice what colors did you get I only bought 4 so far. Subbed you too!!
@@Mannysscalemodeling Hey manny, I got a few. Med. blue, satin black, phoenix red, frost gray,Rosso Corsa racing and guardsmen blue. So a .3 needle at 20 psi and mixed 2 parts paint to 1 part thinner is good. Have a great weekend. Thank you for the sub.
Hey Johnny, oh yea cool colors im going to get some more too. Oh yea that should be good, if it still seems to thick just add more Leveling thinner. You too, your welcome!! @@Johnny-tt8zc
Moving forward PLEASE make sure you take safety precautions while using any catalyzed 2K paints. Please let your viewers know to use gloves and a respirator every time you spray these products. Even though you are using a good quality spray booth (I’ve had my Pace booth for 20 years) watch the overspray and you’ll see it rolling out into the atmosphere….this stuff is dangerous if not handled properly!
I didnt have any issues spraying it, light tack coat then went back over a little heavier and once it was dry it leveled out perfect nice and smooth. That blue was a solid color, no metallic in it.
Nice looking paint, thanks for testing and sharing
Thanks man!! Your welcome!
Thank you for the review.
Thank you! Your welcome and thank you for watching!

Thanks David!
Great tutorial. What pressures were you spraying the paint & clear? And tip size?
Thanks for posting this tutorial.
Thanks man I appreciate it, your welcome! I was at around 18-20psi. I think I had the .38mm needle in it when I did those.
Very useful video, many thanks. How many Bars (or PSI) you used to spray them?
The paints look nice Manny, leveling thinner sure sprays nice, 😎👍
Thanks Tom! Glad I saw a lot of modeler's channels using it, I had to try it and its awesome!
Awesome what’s the drying time
Hey Chuck I let them sit for about 30 minutes
What needle and psi did you use with and without leveling thinner?
I just bought some of these paints.

meh, splotchy when spraying not the smoothest flowing paint or metallic finish is pretty bad compared to other brands
