Been thinking about this for a couple of years. I have lost my vision in one eye and have missing fingers and thumb on my left hand. I can’t the knots on my fishing gear anymore. Because of this I stopped trying to fish for trout. I will now venture out In My small boat 🚤 and try gluing the hooks on my leader and hope for the best. Thank you.
Hi Daniel sorry to hear about that. There is a company that actually make a glue to join lines with some kinda of molding kit. Not sure of the name but this may help also. Take care.
This was GREAT information, but as you point out, we fishermen need a follow up on whether superglue weakens KNOTS, and that test needs to include FLUOROCARBON, which many of us are now using instead of mono for leaders. Did you ever do said follow up? If so, I coudn't find it among all the videos listed on your channel. Please, PLEASE do this testing for us! I, for example, am sorely tempted to put superglue on my Albright knots (joining braid and fluorocarbon) to smooth each one's passage through the guides of my rod. But I don't wan't to weaken the Albright by doing so!
Hi Chris, thanks for reaching out. Definitely on my to do list need to get this one bumped up I think, certainly needs some proper data for us to look at. I do like the Albright knot, you might enjoy the stuff I learnt on that knot during the WSFK episode. I really had to up my game with that knot, turns out if cinched correctly it really does pack a punch think I went in to depth of this cinching technique that really did improve the repetitive loading of the knot on the Tensile tester. Yes Fluorocarbon is a fantastic line to use for leader material, certain knots really do take a liking to it. Do you use any particular brand or type of Superglue? Thx for subscribing appreciate all the support, Tightlines
Ive been using super glue on all my very small fly knots using 5x Fluoroflex line and it definitely works to reduce breakage at the knot. Use it also on my modified Albright knots going from braid to fluoro leaders when bass fishing. Greatly reduces braid pull through slippage. Love your testing vids! Was hoping you'd actually apply the glue to knots and test breakage vs non glued knots. Maybe for your next video? Thanks!
Hi Mike thanks for the feedback, actually I was gonna get knots straight on the tensile machine with glue, but I decided to eliminate all possible issues and unknowns with using glue, it saves a lot of time just digging in a little deeper just to make sure there is no detriment to the line itself. Guess it will all unfold in the next time I pick up this topic. Hopefully soon. You may be interested in my next three videos in the Albright, I found out a few really key things when I got this knot tested with all the configurations. It’s such a clever technique for a knot. I have used that knot for about 30 years now and everything I knew about the Albright was chucked out the window. It was such an eye opener. Tightlines and have a great weekend. Nice Bass by the way, where did you catch it?
@@toitfishing Thanks! I know everyone has their favorite braid to leader knot but I think it's more how good you are at tying them and which knot you a can do in short order. Very, very smooth and very very strong for it diameter. Use 4# Nano w 5x or 4x PowerFlex Fluoro tippet on brown trout. Can throw a 1/8 oz jig a country mile w Nano. So sensitive and w little stretch, can get good hook penetration on big browns jaw. NanoFil is rated by line size rather than pound test. Their 4# Nano is 4# test dia but well over 10# test. The Loctite I use in the USA is the Ultra liquid for knots. When I tie the uni floro x uni spectra knot and cinching it down I pinch it between a tissue to dry the saliva used to cinch down the knot dry. Then I touch the knot with the nozzle making sure the knot is lightly coated. The glue being liquid sucks into the spectra through capillary action all the way through the line. Instead of gluing both lines together I believe it jams the spectra in the floro knot so tight it can't move and will not slip. Don't use the gel glue on it or it will just glue the surface not soaking all the way through like the liquid. I only let it dry maybe 2 to 3 minutes before it gets sent overboard with no problems.

Hey Robert, I have had a few people ask me to test it, I am certain I will get around to doing that at some point. Anything that helps the knot or helps us feel a little safer with the knot certainly takes some stress out of loosing dish or lures. Tightlines and have a nice weekend.
Just picked up some fishing glue and wish I had it sooner! Works great for repairing tears in soft plastics and makes it so much easier to keep soft plastics on jigs or hooks with no need to readjust them after each cast. I've also tried reinforcing different knots with the glue, both line to line knots and line to lure/hook. I figured that it would act as a sort of lubricant or added layer of protection against abrasion from weights and rocks, I never really thought about it on a molecular level, but your experiments give me confidence that nothing chemically detrimental is happening to line as a result of the glue application.
