Come on a walk down Paseo de la Reforma, one of the most beautiful streets in Mexico City!

Paseo de la Reforma is clean, modern, and safe... I wish people would show this side of Mexico in the media more often, instead of all the negative stories that you hear in the media.
But since they don't, I've decided to do it myself! Hope you enjoy this walk from Chapultepec Park down to the El Angel monument.

I miss CDMX! I was there in November and travelled the Paseo everyday. I stayed at the Sevilla and I loved the street being shut down to cars on Sunday and open to families for walking and such. Mexico City is BEAUTIFUL and I can’t wait to go back. The Angel is gorgeous at night when lit up 😘 I’m from Tampa Florida and I love that you are showing the beauty of the country there to possibly people who might have false information. Well done.

fernando villa I’m from Tampa Florida and we have problems too. There are problems all over the world. Sometimes the media seems to grab hold of certain areas and show BAD BAD BAD and then everyone sees that and runs with it. Mexico City is beautiful, Puebla is gorgeous, Cancun, Cozumel, Cholula, Coyoacán all simply amazing! I have ma y more places on my list to visit but I love the food, culture, architecture... the PEOPLE!! Oh and Lucha Libre Lol!!!

Mexico is full of beautiful old buildings. But if that's all people in other countries see, then they will think that Mexico is stuck in the past. That's why I wanted to take a walk down this very modern avenue. To show that innovation is also part of the Mexican experience!

It’s not clean. Here you see one small area in a city almost 100 miles wide. They’re not showing you Los cerros: cinder block housing built in a massively crowded way sprawling over the high hills surrounding the city that house millions and millions. There is no system for garbage for the millions living on the cerros. The air in the city slaps you in the face. Don’t be surprised the media lies to you. They do. They most certainly do.

My wife was born/raised in Mexico City (though her parents were both from former Yugoslavia). I've been there many times, and have spent years trying to tell people back here in Canada how wonderful this city is, and how it's basically exempt from the many unfortunate Mexican stereotypes. Sadly, when most Canadians & Americans go to Mexico for vacation, it's usually the resorts found in Cancun, Mazatlan, etc. Those are great, but not "the real Mexico" in my opinion. You might as well be at any resort in Florida. Mexico City is a urban paradise...full of spectacular architecture (new & old), museums, shopping, every kind of restaurant you could possibly think of. Talk about massive!...over 20 million in an area twice the size of Calgary! And still, things seem to function quite well considering. The addition of the second tier on the Periferico (perimeter freeway) in more recent years has really helped with traffic flow, even though rush hour has been known to continue through as late as 8 or 9pm, Lol. Public transit is quite efficient too...the Metro Subway system (Canadian built by Bombardier) is great, as are the various public transit bus services, paseros, etc. Keep in mind, if people don't like the hustle and bustle of a huge city, this might not be the place for them :) I love it, and consider it one of my top cities in the world! I've traveled Europe and Asia extensively. As for safety? I feel as safe in Mexico City as I would in any city...that includes Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto, Hong Kong, New York, Paris, etc, etc.

Paseo de la Reforma is the most important and emblematic avenue in Mexico City. It was originally called Paseo del Emperador, because its construction was commissioned by Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico during the Second Mexican Empire. In the next month will begin the construction of 5 skyscrapers of 330 meters high and several towers of +200.

Dan, the building you pointed out as looking as if it has reading for the blind is Torre Reforma. Those holes are both functional and architectural. It allows the outer concrete wall to flex during an earthquake. Without the holes it would be one rigid slab of concrete which would crack during a quake. It's architectural because it is meant to emulate the readings of a seismometer. The building is the tallest building in the world to have a concrete wall that serves as both the facade and the structure. This means all the loads are carried by the wall which eliminates the need for columns on the inside which in turn allows for more rentable space. There's a restaurant at the basement if you ever want to check it out. Here's a good summary video of the tower. ruclips.net/video/MjKXuaPPK24/видео.html

Where buses are almost impossible to get.. They have tons of transportation options, unlike here.. Watching this video and being a Mexican-American makes me happy. I live in Kansas and I’m always getting constant racist remarks and comments, I mostly ignore them but it really does make you depressed and make you feel like you don’t belong here. A few years back we moved to a small town in the middle of nowhere and I was in the playground at school, me and this kid got into a argument and started fighting, and he brought some of his buddies over and was saying I don’t belong in this country and I need to go back to Mexico. He and his buddies jumped me and almost broke my nose. After watching this it makes me happy to have Mexican ancestors and makes me proud to have such a rich culture.

Hey Dan, this video has opened my eyes to a lot of things. I see the city where I was born in a new light. I grew up in the states, Seattle to be exact. Every summer we where excited to cross over to BC, sometimes me and my friends would travel all the way to Vancouver, it was quite a riot!. I pretty much grew up as an American during the 80's. I was the only Mexican in my high school. I never even imagined Mexico city to be as I saw it through your camera. I always saw and heard bad things about this place in the media, quite a contrast with what I recently found out. Your images further reinforce the thought that I've been misled somehow. I've visited other Mexican cities, but I now live in Colombia and am sad to say that I have never even visited Mexico city since I left when I was a child. But I'm determine to go back and experience it and see it with my own eyes. Thanks for shooting this wonderful video Dan and for taking the time and effort to make it publicly available.

I think as in any country, if you're fortunate to be a part of the middle/upper class, it's great. The can be seen from those that haven't been so lucky

I respect your point of view. Every big city on every country has the same problem. I would love to show you the most unknown part of Mexico City that is the family part. News channels will never show you how fun is my city. Blessings.

@@fabulosoallpurpose3570 In Brazil the middle class and the upper class are unattainable by the crisis. They continue to live well in their neighborhoods. I do not know where you got that achism from.

I've been to the DF 4 times. I am an American and I could not agree more strongly with your thoughts. Mexico City is gorgeous, clean, vibrant and it would take you weeks to see it all. It has fantastic architecture, food, museums, parks, friendly and well-mannered people and etc, etc. I tell my friends here in the States that they really need to visit. The more adventurous among them tell me it's on their list and, sadly, the rest think I'm crazy. Mexico City also lacks the hordes of homeless squatters which threaten to engulf most of the USA's best cities. Please, if you are an American and you're considering a vacation to Mexico City............DO IT!! You'll fall in love with this gem!

I´m mexican, and i can tell you:
    1) We have some problems, yes. Mostly because some people won´t get in the progress (like narcos, they want easy money and no cares if they hurt they own people) but day by day more people are waking up. They many other positive aspects about our country, but right now we have to lead whit that.
    2) I like the way that you capture the essence of my contry, i realy enjoy your video.
    3) 6 cervezas por 52 pesos is one of my favorite things about my conuntry XD
Sorry if i have many orthographic mistakes.

    Viva México cabrones !!! 🤭♥️🌺💫
One time when I went work in USA a person ask me if we got electric stairs, and I was looking at her like for real y asked me that. But its true many countries got us like we are just nachos, burritos, boots, hat and rancheras jajajaja. Its funny, cuz we could be a first World. The true is in the molotov's song - Power.
Great video!! I hope more people change Mexico esteriotypes in their minds..
