Flying Eyeball Wood Cutout - Von Dutch - lowbrow
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 сен 2018
- This is a classic character in the hot rod and kustom kulture world popularized by the late Von Dutch. He's considered to be the godfather of modern pinstriping, and originator of the kustom kulture car scene.
Although this isn't a direct replica of the original flying eye, I wanted to do one in my own style and add a little bit of movement to it, and as a wood cutout

You need more subscribers. The way you use what you got and don't have all the fancy equipment and you add your own personal touch to each piece. 👍

MAN THAT IS SO COOL 2 THUMBS UP
Absolutely fabulous my friend, a tribute to my favourite pinstripe artist , love the salt affect your ideas are brilliant. If you look at my picture you can see my feeble attempt at the flying eye on the head stock , very hard to do with a broken back can't get into position properly still I had ago lol , thanks again great video 👍
Thank you, yeah the salt makes a nice random masking agent for spray painting. Your flying eye looks great! some art is better than no art haha thanks for watching!
I'm going to make a guitar in the shape of a flying eyeball.
That would be epic... I wonder if it's ever been done
That was very interesting how you use the salt ... I've seen salt used in watercolor paintings for texture but I'm assuming you used it to create light dots for when you sprayed that dark color on ... I like this piece! really cool!
Thank you so much! I've seen the salt used in watercolor before too. I've used the salt in the past for faux finishing rust, the salt makes a nice random masking element for spray painting, you just have to hit it with a light mist coat first so all the salt doesn't blow away, haha.
Great stuff! What type of wood did you use for this?
Thank you, Its an MDF board that has a laminate on both sides. The laminate isnt the greatest to paint but after a few coats of paint it lays down nice. Thanks for asking
Never seen salt used like that before. Why Salt? Painting looks rad man!!! I need to save some cash so I can get one of them one of these days!!
Yeah I should have done a close up right after I wiped the salt away... Next time haha, but yeah it makes a nice random masking agent for spray painting. I've used it in the past to make a faux rust chipped paint effect. But found it appropriate for this project too... Because I make things up as I go hahaha!
Rick Griffin ./..no Dutch ..no Griffin .naahh ..well I'm A Rick Griffin, fan also I like the way you spend time on your art.
