    This week on ModiMakes I made my first wood cutout painting! This grim reaper street art acrylic painting combines woodworking, posca paint pens, and good ol' pop art and cubism to create fantastic diy home decor wall art. If you want to learn how to make street art for your home wood cut out wall art is a great place to start. You get a nice 3d wood cut painting for the wall that's easy to hang and that pasted-on street aesthetic.
    This is a first try art challenge for me so I focused more on how to make a character with personality and how to create beautiful line art, which goes hand in had with the blue meanies painting series, then on the woodcutting itself. Just try not to give yourself to complicated of an outline to cut because it can be tricky! So if you want to see how a professional artist teaches you to complete a grim reaper character design challenge in a one line painting art style then this is the video for you! Enjoy!

      It's really fun! I've been woodworking for most of my life so it's nice to be able to bring that into my art, thank you!

      That's fantastic! It was really fun and honestly I wanna get back to doing some more of them here in the near future once I have some more time on my hands haha, hope the experience is as good and addicting for you as it was for me

    You might want to sand the whole thing down first and get some gesso or primer on there first, it might take the paint better and fill in any blemishes in the wood. Cool character! Would love to see more.

      Thanks! Yea I figure that's probably the move, this was my first time trying this so I wasn't sure but the second time I did it I made sure to get a layer of spray paint on everything first and that helped out a ton

    This is exactly what I'm trying to do with my own art.i just havnt taken the plunge into wood and tools yet,a little afraid of power tools.

      Also are you gonna resin your piece?

    • @modimakes
      @modimakes  Год назад +1

      Yea I hear that man power tools can definitely be pretty sketchy, I only use them so liberally because I grew up with a dad who's a carpenter and he taught me when I was young

      @@wislingsailsmen I want to but I actually haven't ever worked with resin before and it's something I've been meaning to figure out but I don't tend to like the glossy finish that it gives paintings, I prefer a more matte finish for my work

      Been thinking about it! And doing that for my chair painting too, I've been avoiding it because I've never worked with resin before but I might just go for it
