    Those orange zip strips from the grocery store or Walmart work fairly well if one doesn't want to take the sink apart.
    Interesting water shutoff. Had never seen them before.

      Thanks for the nice comment! Yes you could also snake the drain. The one we were working on smelled bad so we decided it needed a deep clean
