They are. I’ve traveled the world and Americans are loved around as well besides parts of the Middle East.. people act like everyone hates America thanks to the media, which isn’t true

Idk what the heck the comment above me is talking about but I agree with Ben and Ashley (despite also being German) are great examples of kind, intentional Canadians that we Americans (at the very least) love to witness

I've watched every video, first time commenting. I just wanted to say, maybe this time let the goal find you. You've both worked so hard for so long and there have been huge challenges that have conked you on the chin but you meet them with grace and you overcome. (Nahoa threatening to break in half in the middle of an ocean, for instance). The next big thing is out there. Maybe you'll find it, maybe it will find you. I recently lost my husband of 54 yrs. He couldn't wait for your next video to be released. He always spoke about your tenacity and your outlook on life. The way you grab life by the balls and run with it. I have no doubt that he's still watching and cheering you on, he just has a better seat now. Your plans will all come together at some point and it will turn out to be the next big adventure. You were both born for this lifestyle and you're raising the next perfect little sailors. Quis Separabit.

I am 70 and have done the whole life cycle here in the States and you two have chosen the best lifestyle ever. I know you both have put in a lot of work to make this lifestyle happen, but you don't want to turn your lives over to a corporate facility that can lay you off or fire you whenever they choose, to live baby to old person being at the mercy of a government that is evil. I worked as a Healthcare consultant for years, traveled around the country and even lived overseas in two foreign lands, but being in charge of your own time and destination is always the most free life you can live, never doubt that part. There are always still more places in the world to go visit, and things to see, and even if the circumnavigation is done, you can set a new goal to visit new places you still have not been to. Your kids will not be the worst for it, you can make friends with other sailors that have kids, and so on. I have been in the place you are at now several times in my lifetime, and it is at those times the Lord was preparing me and directing me to a different plan and purpose. Like you both said in this video, that will come in time, maybe more than one option but only one will feel and seem like the right one.

I've absolutely loved your content over the past years and wanted to thank both of you for your hard work and stick-with-it-ness. Most of us understand its not all gorgeous beaches, sunsets and margaritas out there. Re summit syndrome, there's always a challenging new approach to bag the same peak. I've lost close family and friends this year. To illness that wasn't detected in time. Health comes with no guarantee even in our 30s. Strongly consider beginning another circumnavigation this year while you and your family are young and healthy. Make it your bucket list odyssey and plan to do everything you couldn't do last time and didn't have time to do. Revisit your personal favourites. Experience the new. Theme it if you wish by food, fishing and outdoor adventure. Whatever appeals. Wherever it makes sense to you. And if vlogs of exotic locales outside the Caribbean win more views, subscribers and earn more income, that's a nice little bonus. Your new boat will have cost overruns and delays. Any extra income will be critical. Don't put off what you can do today. Everything can and will change. Not always for the better. Seize those good memories while you still can. And please fish. Love those Pacific fishing videos and tutorials. I've watched and rewatched them all multiple times. Stock that freezer and those memories. Safe travels.

You guys, it is as if the wind has been taken out of your sailes. And it is ok. Go with the flow. You deserve to chill. Chew on some ideas, thoughts and plans. Enjoy your kids and each other in the beautiful Caribbean. Take time out. All work and no play makes jack a dull boy and jill a dull girl. You are so amazing. I will watch you chilling or chasing. I think most people experience this at the end of any goal. Be it finnishing studies, starting THE new job, getting married, having the first child, travelling...The climax and anti-climax is always there. Maybe the years off chasing the goal does become a bit of an addiction, albeit a positive addiction. Give yourselves a well-deserved break from chasing. Breathe, eat, laugh, love, relax without any pressure for a while. As much or as little as you need. Thank you so much for sharing your feelings. Oh my goodness, I am sitting here in Cape Town and I really FEEL you. Lots of hugs.💓💓💓

I can relate 100% to how you feel after a goal is reached. From my personal experience, I have learned that the struggle is actually the best part. It shapes us and pushes us to accomplishments and makes for great stories after. There is no feeling in the world like having reached a goal... after that... not much to strive for. Not a bad video, sometimes we all have to enjoy the foundation that has been laid down before hurrying off to the next wacky thing. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the scenery you have there, as Im adding one more layer of clothing each day.

Happy New Year and safe and satisfying travels.

I love that you're sharing your personal feelings. Thank U. Your right about 1 thing, it's not what happens, it's how U deal with what happens. I think that the majority of your stress & anxiety is from having young kids. U still have 10 more yrs until they become a little more independent. Life is wonderful, Relationships are a compromise. Your title sounds like your sailing is over. If U have any time for reading, reading self-help books are always a positive, but don't feel like U have to use 1 as a guide book, take bits & pieces from each one & apply it to your own life. As humans we have the cognitive ability to learning more about ourselves, to make ourselvs a better human being, happier, content, etc...I appreciate that U took time to sit down & talk to us about your personal feelings & challenges with life on a boat. Cheers to you all & Happy New Year.

I absolutely love all your videos. Almost every year, I go to the annual maritime festival in Port Townsend, Washington.. One of my favorite things to do there is to attend seminars by people who have made sailing their life. If I don't get there early, I can't get in because the seminar room is filled to capacity. The sailers often have a book or two available for sale . Have you considered sailing to different locations around the globe to give seminars at boat shows and maritime festivals? I suspect you have already done some of this. I would love to attend a sailing seminar where you talk about your travels, challenges, etc. It could be a goal.

Your struggles about whats next are totally relatable. When I was 18-19 I watched a surf video about Puerto Escondido in Mexico and it changed my life, from that moment I was hell bent on getting good enough to surf that place and get there to it to do it. After a few years I finally made it there and surfed the place. The experience was something that is a defining moment in my life but when I was leaving there the feeling of despair set in and took me a very long time to find motivation.
I have since fallen into a career and have taken up other hobbies that help get the fire going that said nothing has really touched me the way that goal did. With the passing of time the rudderless feeling will dissipate but might not ever disappear.
May you find your next peak and it be a long hard one to attain which will make the adventure that much sweeter and rewarding.

Guys, I wish I had a struggle like you. Currently, I find myself grappling with the idea of whether I'll ever step foot on a boat in my lifetime. Between work, kids, house chores, and various responsibilities, it feels like a distant dream. I recently embarked on my first sailing course to obtain a license, even though I don't have a boat, experience, or concrete sailing plans. It's more about chasing a dream and hoping to experience something akin to what you all are living. You're all incredible! If I ever do set sail, you'll be my inspiration on that journey!

For an aspiring sailor who doesn't even have his boater license I look forward to learning and one day embarking on my own journey. I respect the summit that you both set for yourself. I think it's important to remember you both are super intelligent and how far you've come. Don't dwindle on the unknown so much as nothing can be fully "predetermined". That's what makes life fun! Keep up the great work!

Been with you guys for almost the entire 8 years. Fellow BC'er, (Vancouver), living the dream with you all these years. At least I thought that was my dream. You, and many of the sailing channels I obsessed over have probably saved me. I so desperately wanted to live that life. My wife, not so much, but I was trying. You know what I learned from watching you, and La Vagabond and many more.........? Life is hard, and it's probably even harder if you're stuck on a small boat where you have to live / work and do everything else with your partner. Family far away, and friends...... I've been married 31 years, kids are 23/20 and we need OUR own space. I love my wife to death (not literally) but in your situation I don't think I would. We have our own stuff, we have our alone time (I have my hockey with my buds) we have not just our family but our joint friends, and our INDIVIDUAL friends, our own separate activities.. I didn't know how important that was until I followed you and the others.
I thank you (and those other channels) for showing me the light. I can keep my lifestyle the way it is and escape on charters for those dreams. Those are now planned. 7 days in the Med. 7 in St Thomas.

I ride my ADV motorcycle to foreign countries and travel around. There's a similar feeling to what you describe as, "I can't go back to a desk job". The bizarre feeling of not knowing what is ahead of you is enormously contrasted with a daily work routine when you return home. Free roaming travel becomes addicting and maddening. "Why can't I just go and leave !?!" It's truely painful to remain in one spot.

When I started wandering when I was 19 I realized you take yourself with you wherever you go, there is no escape, no other you out there waiting for you - there is no past, no future you're always in the present moment - to some who are afraid of the quiet moments and see life as a series of distractions and goals this can be challenging /for others it's calming & peaceful
    As a recovering wanderer
who also had the dream of building a boat and living on it with my wife and first if two kids back in the 1970's
that life had its storms and twists and shouts and never happened / for better or worse
I started watching lots of blue water cruisers like yourselves, some with families too /
And maybe there is some food for thought as you look inside and outside and at your beautiful family and your floating life on the island called earth
Love watching you guys and your vulnerability and insights into life
    Food for thought

The journey is filled with seeking direction. Answers will come as long as you look. I have learned the less that I force, the more that comes to me. Allow and follow, through it all enjoy the present moment. Also, meditation silences the mind...and opens it to the answers that will come.

Thanks for sharing the true feelings behind the scenes. Look at Delos, they just carry on. As you mentioned the Seasons driving you forward. On the second lap there will be a lot of places that you have not seen yet 😊

"We are explorers, modern day explorers, and our profession lies within sharing our experiences".
Hell yea! Thank you for being teachers.
On the activity front, have you ever thought about learning to wing foil?
It is easier to launch from a boat, and works in bigger wind ranges. Therefore easier to get out more.
Would loveee to see this in a video :D Cheers from back home in Canada!

    Hi Guys,
Love your channel and wathced from the start. Im a local Vancouverite.🙂
Ive often wondered when you would reach this point. and when you got here, you were honest, brave enough to tell us. Bravo!
Two keys to true happiness once we have lifes basics.-. 1) A person may not be selfish but self centered. Our children are an extension of us, so helping has limits. There is greater happiness in giving than recieving. A self centered life will become meaningless and hollow. A life of helping others at a cost to you ( not just from surplus) will bring more joy. 2) Our sprituality, unitl we acknowlege our creator, we are lost and alone. - these are the keys to true inner joy and purpose.

Patience is a permanent state of mind. Actually it is the opposite to anxiety. Sure patience is an exercise in endurance while you accomplish goals or a goal but ultimately it needs be a permanent state not merely something you exercise to accomplish a goal.

Slow down…enjoy the Caribbean cruise season…When the hurricane season resumes take us to Canada's eastern shores…after summer head down the coast back to Annapolis, and set up for Panama for the 2024-25 season. Just keep doing what you’re doing so well introducing the kids and us to new places and sailing lifestyle.

As Canadian citizens if they brought Nahoa into Canada they would have to pay duty and GST/HST on the value of the boat. So Canadians never bring an international boat into Canada unless the vessel will be sold in Canada. Or else you are throwing away your money.

Thanks for the reply…I never knew and this is another reason to follow along. While I am sad that they are not going to be able to come all the way back north to Canada…there’s many other destinations…Maine-Bermuda-South America lots of possibilities.

Subscriber from the early days, and I will just add you will figure out what’s next when the inspiration comes to you. You were so focused to summit, that it is hard to think about what to do for your next summit goal. Relax, chill, absorb and know you have accomplished something that few on earth have ever done and only dream about. Don’t be goal-aholics like us rat-racers, who dream about your lifestyle. You will find your inspiration, just don’t look for it too intensely and it will find you. ⛵️

The bigger the accomplishment the bigger the “depression” typically. I have experienced this same problem many times after accomplishing major goals. The cure is finding another goal to accomplish. This funk will immediately go away and you will be off to the races once again.
Now I expect this depression after accomplishing major goals and try to have a plan for what is next before I finish the original goal. It helps with the transition.
Just got to Bonaire today from Grenada. Saw you guys at LPB a few times. Please feel free to join us. We are going through the canal and going to Galapagos.

Hello Ben and Ashley, it's a bit of a puzzle really. You started out as two successful people in a lovely part of the world and bought a Catamaran and went looking for a more beautiful place and searched the entire world but haven't come back to Victoria to reset your goals. You already have a very nice boat and are trying to get a bigger boat, but you don't know why . You have created two very beautiful children on your journey with Willa and Bodhi . Good luck.
