The Big One of the Year! Vintage Deals, Antique Extravagance
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 апр 2024
- With hundreds of indoor and outdoor dealers bringing everything for their only appearance of the year, Florida's West Palm Beach is an Extravaganza like no other!
We start outside, where our shopping includes the newest version of the seat that made me famous! Lots of beauty and a little learning hit us as we compare new pottery to old McCoy and Rookwood, Lucite furniture and a really cool English knight cabinet, plus great old art glass, 1930s barware and Geisha Girl tea settings.
Then we head indoors, where sparkling designer costume jewelry, amazing French and Austrian art glass, a Victorian tear catcher and a 1930s chalk figure with fabulous legs are featured in really fine and really fun reseller displays! A 1950s doll that changes moods at the turn of a button, 1970s MCM enamelware and fine European art that shows us the dawn of collecting!
West Palm Beach Antique Fest is this extravagant once a year, but there's a fun antique vintage fiesta there on the first weekend of the month year-round! Check wpbaf.com for more info until we're back in town next season!

OMG, I almost snorted my tea out! "It's upside down, but it's Picasso, so it shows pretty much the same either way." LOL
The old toilet seats are much more sturdy than the new ones.
You have such a knowledge of vintage. I learn something new every time I view your shows. I found you off of Jocelyn’s videos that I’m now addicted too bc they’re every day at nighttime! I also like west coast revivals channel. Peace and love to all! ❤
Thank you George, I think your vocabulary would benefit my 14 yr old granddaughter"s performance on those awful standardize test 😂
So funny that you had to explain the use of the jukebox selector!
I felt as though you were giving us a walking guided museum tour.
Thank you George.
You're so precious❤
Thank you for showing us so many magnificent and rare pieces George. I could live with many of them and never tire of seeing their artistry and quality. So beautiful to see the craftsmanship, and know that some things never go out of style or demand.🖤🇨🇦
These extravaganzas are so much fun to see, especially for those of us who live far away from where they take place. Once again, thanks for sharing!
Yes, I agree.
Here in Hawaii we don't see anything like at the places George visits / shops & sells.
His videos are always a treat. 😃
I'm so glad to bring these events to you to enjoy as well!
Interesting story about the Madeira pattern. My grandmother worked for Franciscan in the mid - late 60s and they noticed the Medeira - which they thought would sell like hotcakes like the Desert Rose and Apple patterns - wasn't exactly the hit that they expected - considering it features the coleurs du jour - avocado green and chocoate brown. And then they did some research with it using a chef and serving meals on it. And they learned that certain foods look decidedly un-appetizing on it. One being fried eggs. Yuk. Granny used to buy family members sets of dishes from their seconds shop. She bought my mother service for 18 in Platinum Renaissance china - hand picking each piece. A family asked for a set of Madeira for her wedding and Granny talked her into Desert Rose. She sent us a sample Madeira and told Mom to serve eggs on it. It is just not a good look. Not sure exactly what years it was in the line but it didn't have the staying power of the two hot patterns. Color can make a big difference. In two other colors, that pattern could have been great.
That is such great info! I have thought a LOT over the years about the difference between dinnerware patterns and what would look good with food. Overly patterned designs can be problematic, and so much food is brown or earthy colors that it may not look so good on earthy colors. Just my thoughts...I like a good band of design around the edge and a plain center for actually serving food where dinnerware is concerned
This was so informative and delivered so beautifully. Thank you George.
I’m so behind with videos and comments. I hope all is well with you George. Take good care and safe travels. ❤️
Me too but thank you for leaving one! I'm always glad to have your involvement and support
My Dad has rattan chairs. Glad to know they are in now as I wanted to replace them.
Rattan are getting harder to get and price going up.
Yes, they're coming back now!
Different items today. Big prices. Thanks, George.
You bet
That was so amazing all the beautiful pieces you shared with us. As always your knowledge is appreciated. Thank you George ✨✨✨✨✨
The tall blue-gray vase looked like Rookwood to me. I am only learning the Falscraft now from you.
Those 60s bejeweled lamps are so cool 😎 I'm going to be on the look for those and I'm in my 30s and those are amazing never seen before but I need them now! Also I love the golden girls and have considered doing a golden girls room themed.
I loved several pieces you showed and the prices being low. I wish I could go there but live in Florida and have several disabilities so I cannot fly or ride in a car a distance. I watch you because you teach me what is good and what is a fake. Thank you for doing your videos!
Excellent video. You’re always educating us, which I love. I’d love to see you do some videos breaking down specific arts. Such as the different types of glassware, pottery, the difference between brass/bronze/copper. Until next time ❤️
around 6:35, that stand would be perfect for a cat bed, with a nice cushion for a living room. Double duty
Oh WOW! 🙌🏻
Hi Poodle, missed u the past 2 week. Feels like 3 wk.
Hi Poodle 🎉 I have missed seeing your comments and chat for what seems like 2 or 3 weeks ❤
I love the painting 21:09 and the blue and metal vase. 23:22. There were so many beautiful things.❣️
I worked in the accessories section of a department store in the 80s and sold lots of Coro and Vendome jewellery. Nothing as lovely as you showed us though! Thanks for taking us along to this wonderful expo!
Hello everyone frm Cali
Hello in Cali!
Hi Julia!!
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
I got tickled when you said that you thought the Blenko piece was so "rare". That's not a word we hear too often from George unless he is correcting someone. 😅
So many beautiful pieces. I don't know why, but I'm attracted to anything that has a human figure on it.
Is it possible to have a miniature version of George in my pocket when I go to places like this to tell me stuff!?
Good evening, George. I liked that Bohemian ewer, with the ram's head. That leaded glass window would make a fantastic door for a cabinet. The Mae West lamp I have has the adjustable type of harp like was on those Blenko lamps. Loved the Tiffany desk set. The Loetz piece was phenomenal! I really liked the dragonfly pattern in the metal. There was a gold/gold tone brooch there, with dark green sets, that I really liked. That Italian decanter made me think of Goofus Glass 😂 There was a lot of really nice and interesting items there. Thanks for the take-along!
I am in pursuit of that Loetz vase. I wonder how I can track it down??
George. You looked rested relaxed and chill..loved the cameo ware..I'm frugal and the $10 bunny pc would have been mine!❤ Thanks for filming this show
I enjoyed it.
The blue & white dish with the corks is a baby dish. Mama put hot tap water inside the bottom section to warm baby's food or keep it warm. I have my baby dish and my brother's as well (different dish from the 40's, not this pattern), a pink one and a blue one, each with a cork, and that is how our mother used them.
I can handle the awesome.
Oh yes!
Looks like some fantastic things in this one!
I loved the jukebox on the table. So easy and you played it while you enjoyed it a burger and milkshake. Thanks George! Always a great video with beautiful items. ❤😊
Beautiful, thank you for sharing. I love that your mom is up for exploring.
Hi George!! Watching from Anchorage, Alaska. 🙂✌
Neat! I just sold a set of 1964 Alaska Earthquake candid photos someone took with a Brownie camera back then
That is so awesome! Have you been up to visit Alaska yet?
Wow, that was a great. Things that I would never see. Thank you George. That was a real treat. 🤗😘
Thanks George ❤
The butterfly 🦋 toilet seat I would have bought too I love ❤️ butterflies and fairy 🧚🏼 tales I and Disney and vintage and Victorian style items and furniture and chandelier that is what I look forward to seeing when you go to these sales
The restaurant jukebox was such a treat ... Pre-Spotify, I was in college and had listened to the top 100 songs on the radio in my dorm room ... the anticipation of waiting to hear if the #1 was my favorite ... and, yes, looking to see that my favorite was on the jukebox ... scrolling through the selections and then getting to hear "my songs' ... great memory!☺
Always a treat, always informative.
I loved every single brooch they were breathtaking to see😊😊😊
See ya Saturday!
Re: Thumbnail...I am a regular viewer of your channel so, Yes...I can handle that much awesome...I'm used to it!❤
13:32 Our family had that exact same one. Pretty AND comfortable 😊
Thank you George....I always learn so much from you. Hope to see you at the Portland Oregon show in July.
2:05 the ruby bejeweled lamps ❤ 13:45 😂 19:17 the blue is beautiful 26:18 I love looking at the jewelry even though I’d be afraid to wear it for fear of damaging it or losing it.?
I just love you and your thorough knowledge. My gmas and mother were both collectors and you could dance circles around them! Keep on keeping on❣
Wouldn't have been able to make the Spokane gig on the 20th, but hi from Langley, BC, George!
Waving from Mt. Baker (in my imagination, anyway)!!!
What an amazing array of fabulosity you showed us. Thank you ever so much.
🎉🎉🎉🎉❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you. I collect Russian made boxes, bowls, plates, scarves, shawls... So happy to see one box. Began collection in the 1980's. I don't have many pieces but love the folk art.
Thanks for the tour around the extravaganza!
Thanks! Love this video
Hi Jan! Thank you so much for your support of the channel, I really appreciate that you saw the extra merit in showing a show that has so many really nice things
Love that lavender wedge wood dish with the lid. This was full of all kinds of interesting pieces that were just beautiful. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day with safe travels
I love the Rainier Beer tray!!! And I loved those coin-op jukebox’s as a young girl… brings back good memories!! 😊
That Annmarie Davis piece was great!! Altho I think the one I got from you is pretty special😉. Good luck at your show… soon I’ll make it to one of those!! 4/20/13 was the day I moved to the PNW .. 🤪
Hi there! The one you got from me IS very good. I'm glad that you recognized how good the Rainier piece was. Congratulations on your 11th anniversary!
Great Stuff Mr. George , and the music is a toe tapper .
Wild George nearest West absolutely gorgeous pieces. In this a video I wish I was rich. LO LLO L.😊😊😊😊😊
Great video - thanks for sharing George. Very informative as always.
wow Mazer has some gorgeous brooches !
Now all you need is a crocheted bathroom tissue girl.
Yes!
Great Show and Pickups ❤ Thank you 🙏
My Mom had a set of the Franciscan Madeira stoneware....she got rid of it because they chipped so easily.
Lol, I have that same Coke letter board but it's hanging up in my shed. Maybe I need to take it down and sell it! Thanks George good video.
Thank you George for sharing your knowledge! The Eskimo doll with the baby you said was 2.95. Was that two dollars and 95 cents or two hundred and 95 dollars? I am in New Zealand and have a more modern one that my Grandmother had. Her family came from Canada and she bought her doll on a visit. If she was alive today she would be over 100 years old.
I’d love to have one of ‘The Blob’ Blenko pieces!
Love the tabletop juke box, I remember them well, oops, showing my age. I love silver plate. That Gorham nickel plate coffee/teapot was AWESOME. Okay, creepy dolls , spinning heads , I'll pass lol
That Loetz glass was amazing!
Regarding the Russian box near the end, the writing you showed was "Troika". Usually the place of origin and style (Feodoskino, Palekh, Mystera, or Holui) is on the left, the title is in the middle, and the artist is on the right. I suspect that box is not completely hand painted because it doesn't have a place of origin and the border, which might be the only hand painted part, is very simple. The dealer probably knows the box is not high quality therefore the low price. Real Palekh and Feodoskino are worth a hundred dollars or more, Mystera and Holui a little less. The "painting" on that box suggests Mystera or Holui style. These newer boxes have appeared since the fall of state controlled manufacturing.
This is a great fair. I think I want to make it next year.
George I enjoy your videos so much!

Thank you George!! This was a real treat!!❤
Enjoyed it very much . Thank you.
Amazing things thanks for sharing ❤
Around 6.2 min you showed Phillip Hoffman by Mosser. That looks like the one I brought to Rosie’s last year that you looked at!
Yes! Very similar.
@@TheAntiqueNomad Did you mean Josef Hoffmann? I believe I learned that from you & Jocelyn.
7:12: the Picasso may be also Robert Keil.
Great video as usual!!🧡
Thank you so much!
Great video
I have some newer Blenko lamps that I purchased from Blenko directly. Mine do not have that slide feature. Do you know when that stopped? Thanks George love your videos. I’ve been watching for a long time. Come to Huntington WV.
I love the table Victorian furniture especially with the marble top wish you could have said the price 😊😊😊😢😢😢😢
Hello Alll....Texas here!!!
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Retired French teacher here...let me help you ..."L'escalier" is pronounced "less-kahl-ee-AY" ..."de" = approx - "duh"...if you pronounce it "day" you are making it plural ... you did fine on "crystal" ... end of French lesson!🤩
I'm been trying to have a yardsale for the last flew months (if weather permits) I've got some great stuff a friend of mine gave me I'd like you to come by I live in NC Lincoln County last weekend I only had 2 🚗 cars that showed up and they didn't buy nothing

George, oh my,
bi a mor fic, Bi is 2,
But what does that word mean.?? I figure it is a description
Derived from the Greek words bios (life) and morphe (form), the term refers to abstract forms or images that evoke naturally occurring forms such as plants, organisms, and body parts. It's amazing what you can find by googling a word. 😁
Ho ya folks..and George..from a balmy Central Alabama...........💚
Great to have you in chat tonight!
French: duly massacred. The celestial blue piece was stunning though. (the French had me wanting fingers in my ears. OUCH) 26:40 If anyone's wondering that was a real jelly belly - clear lucite cabochon. Some get crazy and say only Trifari is real or only pieces made during to just after WWII, but I'm not that much of a purist. Some dealers call colored or opaque lucite pieces get called jelly belly, but they're not.
✨💖✨
Do you drive when you go all over?
I do a LOT of driving. I keep thinking I'll fly, but then I find these great collections to take to the other coast or inland, so I keep driving!
"Eskimo" is not a word used anymore to make reference to the Inuit people of North America, it is regarded as offensive , similar to words that used to be used for Indigenous or First Nations peoples.
I have a afga synchrobox 600 made in india
Wanna know its value
Thanks in advance
The Tiffany vase was spectacular and so was the desk set!!❤❤
Sure were!
A perfectly horrid post war minstrel money box for sale at the start of the video.
They should be left for showing in appropriate museums.
Love it all WPB show always the best.
As a kid, I wanted a tepe to live in when we played with our full sized mama dolls. We settled for a blanket draped above us in our dogwood tree ❤😅😊
So many wonderful pieces! Great seeing everything !!
Madeira Franciscan was our pattern and the glasses. They’re all packed up in our basement….as is the flatware that went with it. The glasses are so heavy and they get very greasy feeling if not used often.
I fell in love with so many beautiful pieces. Just need a big bag of money. Thanks for sharing George.
