Mike Myers was inspired to write this movie after his father passed away. He had a lot of fond memories of watching cheesy '60 British spy movies with his dad as a kid so he wrote this spoof as a tribute to the movies his dad loved so much
Fun fact: he wasn’t originally planning to play Dr Evil also, the only reason he played him too was because he couldn’t find another comedian/actor who was willing to do it
@@Blandina11 oh yeah, I think I remember that now that you mentioned it… I’m glad because Liar Liar was AMAZING! It was one of the best Jim Carrey movies and one of the best comedies of all time anyway
@@Blandina11 omg Jim would have been fantastic.
@@nsasupporter7557 agreed 😊
@@Blandina11 alot of my movie trivia I get from Minty Comedic Arts. Do you ever watch his videos?
@9:30 Yes. Michael Myers plays both Dr. Evil and Austin Powers. There are a lot of subtle (and some not so subtle) references to James Bond films in this. You probably missed some due to not seeing all the old James Bond spy films. Anybody not familiar with those old Bond films would miss about half the jokes in this movie. You all still did good!
8:23 "Sorry about the question but is it the same actor Austin Powers and Dr Evil" Ellie's expression is so good :)
Mike Myers is from SNL. He played both Austin and Dr. Evil. He is making fun of James Bond movies. It is slapstick humor and supposed to be stupid. I enjoyed the show. Thanks.
Fun fact: the only reason he played Dr Evil also was because he couldn’t find another comedian/actor who was interested in playing him so he played him too
@@nsasupporter7557 it's literally a gag on Loren Michaels, SNL's boss, talk/walk and all because of how he acted to the talent on the show, even the pinky is Michaels
@@nsasupporter7557 and he literally stole it from Dana carvy lol
The pianist on the double decker bus was Burt Bacharach who composed the song. He died just recently.
Lia & Ellie
Actor, who portrays No. 2 is the iconic actor named Robert Wagner. Robert has a long career in movies and TV. He played a jewel thief in a TV series called It Takes A Thief during the 60's. Robert still living today at the age of 93.
Now did he kill a woman on a boat? Or was he just there?
This movie is FULL of references...not just James Bond films but US television shows, commercials and other films.
Austin Powers is worthy of a group reaction.
Fun and educational xD
This reaction throws the culture divide into stark contrast; there were jokes not laughed at that would have an American practically laughing their freaking asses off. Lia seemed to get a few more references than Ellie.
Edit: I hope you guys recognized Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia from Star Wars) was the group therapist. ;)
Also, if you weren’t raised on spy movies and the culture of the 60s and 70s, you’d probably miss a lot as well. 🤣
Well it is two European women watching a Canadian pretend to be British lol.
@@logann7942 Myers has English, Scottish and Irish roots
I'm from Morocco I find all of Austin Powers' jokes funny It's not about culture, it's about understanding jokes to make you laugh
Rest In Peace, Burt Bacharach 🥀🎹
Mike Myers who plays Austin Powers and Dr. Evil is also the voice of Shrek hahahah
This movie 👍👍❤️❤️🤣😊
And the second and third movie are even BETTER 👍
Best movie ever. My favourite joke which not many people notice is, as he's waking up from being frozen he mumbles "...I want Smarties, I want a Mars Bar...". I loooove this film 😍.
McHoney Official Is that what he said?🤣
@@justindenney-hall5875 Yes lol it took me a while to hear it, but if you listen carefully you hear it (or subtitles probably would be quicker....). It's like he's regressed to being a little boy and he's asking his mummy for chocolate 😂.
@@mchoneyofficial4761 I thought it was just gibberish🤣
It's quite funny to see the humour fly over your heads a little bit.
A LOT!!!
Miss seeing the four of you together.
if you're not familiar with the culture of the swinging '60s and the James Bond films of that era, you'll probably miss most of the jokes and cultural references in this film.
I didn't think they'd like Austin Powers, Theres a lot of jokes that just dont translate to non English/Western speaking cultures and then add the fact its a 26yo movie now, some of the humor has dated or is hit & miss. The whole joke of Austin Powers is hes meant to be the ugly James Bond, its a parody of the 007 franchise. I dont think a couple of girls in their 20's from Eastern Europe are going to get the joke.
If Dr Evil doesn't know what's happened since the 60s, he wouldn't know that Charles had married.
But Charles having gotten married would be a safe assumption to make.
@@RandomNonsense1985 It's never a safe assumption that someone is married. He could've never married, been divorced, widowed or have died.
I think this is a film that the younger generation don’t get 🤷🏼♀️ One of my faves 👌🏻 If you haven’t already reacted to it, Casino Royale would be a good James Bond to start with 🥰
There are so many inside jokes stemming from old American TV commercials, early James Bond film references, etc. I also remember going to London as a kid in 1971 and being shocked by how nasty people's teeth were. Lol. I even coined the phrase "Euroteeth" after that visit because I saw it in some other cities as well. I forgot all about that until my mom saw this movie and reminded me of it. I also experienced much of the hippie movement as a kid. Without that personal history and all those experiences, I wouldn't have understood half the humor in this film.
My goodness I must be super old now but I’m only 35
There are 2 casino royales. The spoof version with David Niven and the Daniel Craig one
@@Trebor74 Oh yes there is 👍🏻 I meant the Daniel Craig one 🥰
they both like what the hell did I just watch 😂😂😂
Loving your reactions in the UK ladies. Don't know if it's been mentioned, but Wayne's World with Mike Myers is great.🤩
I was wondering if you ladies recognized the group therapist (Carrie Fisher) or as you probably know her Princess Leia
Yes! Please react to all 3!! :D My favorite movie series
They barely reacted to this one 😐
@@PSB1983what do you mean? They loved and enjoyed the entire movie 🎥
Almost 200K girls! Keep it up! Love your channel!
The next one, The Spy Who Shagged Me, is my favorite.
Thank you for your reaction, lovely girls) The second and third parts are even funnier. I personally waited for "Austin Powers 4", but it was never filmed. Happy last holiday to you!
i know right? then verne troyer (mini-me) died and it was all over from there...smh
@@jaceeaster2246 Yes, I know( Vern Troyer was a cool actor. It's a pity that he died
@@Vasiliy-kn1so I think it was alcohol poisoning or something? So sad... RIP to him
This movie is over a quarter century years old now 🤯
Stop!! Damm I'm old 😂😂🤣🤣
16:28 the way she rolls her tongue saying robots
Looks like there was a lot "Lost In Translation", especially if one has never seen the early James Bond movies, or knows anything about 60's culture.
Yes Michael Myers plays more than one character in this film he is both the star and villain
Princess Leia doing the group therapy.
Mike Myers plays Austin Powers and Dr Evil !
Such an expressive face, Ellie was born to do reactions🤣
Ikr? She's shagadelic!
@@mattslupek7988 "Oh, behave!"🤣
Eh, they both barely reacted
@@Joshy.Want.Wingyy Sure Trantor, I think you should make a appointment with your eye doctor ASAP😆
Ellie when are you and your friends going to play that Twister game shown in the movie?
if you didnt know the actor for austin and dr evil is the same actor who played shrek
Loved the reaction girls! I love this movie also! lol
Dr evil and austin are both played by Mike Myers
My favorite James Bond parody. In these films, with all the vulgar jokes, there is some kind of charm. The first part is the favorite of the trilogy, and then comes the third.
That was the fastest Lance fight I've seen... since I can't recall. Damn
Yes he's the doc, Austin, and in next movie the greatest character in all of movies, Fat Basterd! He had about a 10 year period where he was the biggest star in Hollywood! He did 3 of these, 2 Wayne's World movies, a movie called So I Married an Ax Murderer which was a riot, plus he was a regular cast member on Saturday Night Live! Watch the end of this movie, a bunch of stars do cameos! But if u ever watched any rediculousness spy movies or TV shows from the 60s, u will get it! America had one also, called Matt Helm!
Ellie! These types of movie u should either do with Larry or Michelle, i think they are more intuned with this type of silly and over the top humour.
Lia & Ellie
Next is Spy who shagged me. Then 3rd in Power Trilogy is Goldmember. Goldmember is a spoof of Bond's Goldfinger.
The second one is even funnier !
6:02 I like how this went way over their heads while anyone else especially in UK would of got it straight away.
Anybody in the UK WOULD'VE got it - and spelled it correctly.
@@danielg6566 And they would've GOTTEN it, too!
@@porflepopnecker4376 nice try bro! Here's an extremely easy to find note: Remember, in North America, gotten is used when referring to the process of acquiring something, while got is used when referring to owning or possessing something. Outside of North America, got is the only option.
"would've got" remains correct, thanks for playing!!
@@danielg6566 hmm very toxic indeed.
Yes, Mike Myers plays Austin Powers and Dr. Evil, he also plays the character Fat Bastard in the Austin Powers movies.
That sounds pretty nasty, how about a courtesy flush over there!
😂😂😂
18:20 that's carrie Fisher otherwise known for playing Princess Leia in star wars.
Ok hopefully you react to the next two Austin Powers movies I honestly like them better than the first one as funny as it is
I had the same expression about this movie as Ellie appears to have on the RUclips thumbnail image. 😆
If you have never watched any James Bond movies its hard to understand "The Spoof".
I can't remember which blonde robot it was, but she had a period of about 5 years where she absolutely ruled the internet!!
Dr. Evil and Austin Powers are the same great Canadian actor, Mike Myers. Wayne's world react after?
Meet actor who played The Cat In The Hat and the voice of Shrek
Just wait until the sequel when you meet Ivanna Humpalot 😂
The fact that you girls get NONE of the references in this movie makes me realize how old I'm getting. Depressing.
Copy that. Years ago when the Dukes of Hazzard movie came out I heard some kid say, "That used to be a TV show? It must of sucked like the movie." As I was shaking my head part of me wanted to slap him for not knowing about the coolest show you watched as a kid growing up.
@@heywoodjablowme8120 I third that too because back when they watched Bruce Almighty a few weeks ago, they didn’t get the Clint Eastwood reference when he turned into him when he was driving in his car
@@nsasupporter7557 👍 I noticed that too, but none of the new generation knows "Dirty Harry"
😳
It makes them look really dumb when they are not laughing at this Movie.
Austin Powers was a slapstick comedy aimed at a younger audience. This movie was SUPER POPULAR with boys 10-18 in the USA when it came out, others liked it too but you could not go to a school anywhere without hearing a boy say "Groovy baby" hahaha. Still enjoyable as an adult but a lot of the humor is so "dumb" that it doesn't hit the same as when you're younger. I hope you do the other two though!
You need to watch the other two movies they are hilarious!!!!
They didn't get the jokes in this one why have them watch two more
Mike Myers played both roles as dr evil and Austin powers
they are like what....the.....fk.....are....we....watchng....
The father/son counsellor is "Princess Leia", everyone's fav, Carrie Fisher.
Of course Austin Powers is famous. Mike Myers is Canadian btw
These films were inspired by an old British TV show called Jason King. It's an old cheesy detective style character who was always chasing after women
James Bond. Duh
@ELVIS is back baby I take it you haven't seen Jason King then?
@@tobynewman6405 I ll watch. But basically Mike Myers copied ending of diamonds for ever. The white cat, number one, People ejected from seats. He made jokes , even Roger Moore made . He had different jokes too but he basically made fun of bond. Also Sean Connery hairy chest.. yes, I'll look up what you said. I found Matt helm it's like bond too. No humor though. I just wanted to tell you if you rewatch bond movies Myers copied alot of. Ideas. Even Dr No ridiculous space outfit
There's a trilogy of spy movies in the 1960s that partially inspired the Austin Powers character. The films starred Michael Caine and were the following;
The Ipcress File (1965)
Funeral In Berlin (1966)
Billion Dollar Brain (1967)
Give them a watch when you get the chance.
My Cocaine. Who also played Austin Powers’ fazhah
I have a The Homies... "FemBot " Short in mind.
Mike Myers actually plays both Austin Powers and Dr, Evil.
Honetly its not mine!
Watch The Cat in the hat. Same actor Mike Myers
Hi guys. I think now it is time to react to some Jet Li movies. Jet Li is one of the greatest martial arts actors of all time only behind the great Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. 1980s and 1990s were the Golden Age of Hong Kong cinema featuring a number of Chinese, Hong Kong and Taiwanese movie stars. You have myriads of movies to react and Jet Li is the very first choice. Some notable examples are the Fist of Legend (1994), which is a remake of the 1972 Bruce Lee film Fist of Fury. This film holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Romeo Must Die (2000) featuring the beautiful Aaliyah (R.I.P the Princess of R&B) or French-American collaborations like Kiss of the Dragon (2001) and the Unleashed (2005). The 2002 wuxia film "Hero" featuring an ensemble cast of Jet Li, Donnie Yen, Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Maggie Cheung, Zhang Ziyi, and Chen Daoming. It then became the first Chinese-language movie to top the American box office. And his classic Once Upon a Time in China series, one of the pinnacles of Hong Kong cinema's 1990s golden age and Fearless (2006), the biopic of Huo Yuanjia, who fought his way through tragedy to become one of the greatest martial arts masters in China at the beginning of the 20th century. Please react to these excellent movies, guys. When it comes to action choreography, martial arts scenes, real skills (Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Donnie Yen all are specialized martial artists) and shooting in difficult situations, sometimes even without stunt double, Hong Kong/Chinese cinema is the best in the world. I hope you read my comment :)
Do you guys ever check out sword-and-sorcery movies are more like 80s movies??
Excellent pants E! Stunning as usual! Good movie. Enjoyed by you and me. I always think it's more enjoyable to watch reactions of comedies.....or really bad action movies. Don't know why. Perhaps I just like to laugh. So keep those comedies coming. We could all use a laugh these days.
What if….
After drinking the “ Happily Ever After “ potion, in Shrek 2, Shrek turns into Austin Powers..?..

Think about it this way: the timing of watching Austin Powers now is like watching Clockwork Orange, Dirty Harry, or Shaft would have been when this movie was first released.
There was alot of dismay on the part of the Homies. Not their fault obviously with so many pop-culture and James Bond references.
