Mega mushroom should replace the plant tbh. and it should not allow you to dodge shock since this game already gives dodges like candy

I don’t know if it’s just me, but it feels like the Boo is way more common recently, but takes way worse items. I get hit by it 2-3 times a race at a minimum, and of the roughly dozen times I used it in a bottom spot during my last session, it gave me items typical for 1st or 2nd place 8 or 9 times.
Here's the thing I've learned over time. Mk8dx has genuinely evolved to a point where I think Lightweights, Mediumweights and Heavyweights all have valid use-cases. I have a friend who plays inside drift Toadette who makes easy work of literally any lobby I'm in (and I've played the game long enough to hit 40k VR). Over time I've realized that all wieght classes come with their own benefits
Lightweights: Smaller hitboxes and higher acceleration
Middleweights: Perfect medium with high mini-turbo and decent topspeed. The baseline and more common "meta picks"
Heabyweights: High top speed enables unparalleled performance on tracks with less turns and an abundance of boost panels. Heavy-weights also struggle less with expert shortcuts. Attempting the mushroom gorge gap jump with Yoshi Vs Funky is like night and day easier with funky imo
Side note 17:16 This is exactly why I play regional lobbies. Itemplay in worldwides can legit feel completely unreactable and while it might take a bit longer to find a more competitive lobby in regionals, if you spend an extra 5-10 minutes, it goes a long way
Funky Kong is iconic because of the Flame Runner, in 8dx he really miss this bike that's why it's hard to find him a good combo

funky kong flame rider slim wheels is the closest thing we have to wii, which is actually an alright combo if you like speed
Unfortunately it has poor mini-turbo, which is more important than speed in this game

The coin is an item designed to make you feel helpless, it would be way too overpowered if you could always pull red shell defences in first place, so the coin is there to balance things out.

The nerf to bagging was done in probably the smartest possible way that nintendo could have. Mad props to the guy behind it. Its not killed, but the part that was unhealthy for the game was.
Bagging does require some level of skill to do and that part has remained and gotten even higher actually.
not exactly. a lot of big competitive players think the bagging nerf actually made the game more luck based and worse, like Vantox. unfortunately a lot of people just don't understand the core reason why bagging exists

Funky Kong and the Yoshi Bike seems to work for me on global.
And I used to absolutely suck on inward drifting bikes, but I don't think I'd stop using it now.

Edit: also Troy to do the ramp part of choco mountain faster is to slow down right before the first ramp so you can get all three tricks
City Trooper is my go to with funky as it has flames and a really good acceleration stat.
Next time try to use every inside drift bike with Funky Kong in mk8d.
I honestly prefered even the thunder cloud to the coin. It made a race like a mini hot potato for a bit but also let you take shortcuts meanwhile the coin just makes you unable to do anything and it's way too common.
I disagree, coins should have been on the track to make it less of a problem. They should do what Super Circuit did by caping it at 55

Funky inside drift combo next
I think Diddy feels best on ink striker (or mach 8 or sports coupe, which is my go-to). The extra speed is much appreciated.
My opinion on bagging. I believe it is antithetical to the spirit of the game and anything Nintendo can do to deemphasize it, is a good thing. Though I understand the function of better items in the back (closing the distance between front and back of pack makes the game more tense/fun for everyone), intentional bagging needs to end.
you should try the funky kong yoshi bike combo, it feels pretty good for inside drift

The game is so much more fun since the bagging strat got nerfed. This was the best change they could have made.
