Lounge is the unofficial ranking system for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe! When you wish to compete, you will play against other players of similar match-making rating (MMR). Depending on your MMR, you will place in one of the numerous ranks in Lounge:
Iron 1: 0-999 MMR
Iron 2: 1000-1999 MMR (Placement: 1500)
Bronze 1: 2000-2999 MMR (Placement: 2500)
Bronze 2: 3000-3999 MMR (Placement: 3500)
Silver 1: 4000-4999 MMR (Placement: 4500)
Silver 2: 5000-5999 MMR
Gold 1: 6000-6999 MMR
Gold 2: 7000-7999 MMR
Platinum 1: 8000-8999 MMR
Platinum 2: 9000-9999 MMR
Sapphire 1: 10000-10999 MMR
Sapphire 2: 11000-11999 MMR
Ruby 1: 12000-12999 MMR
Ruby 2: 13000-13999 MMR
Diamond 1: 14000-14999 MMR
Diamond 2: 15000-15999 MMR
Master: 16000-16999 MMR
Grandmaster: 17000+ MMR
Depending on your rank, you will only be eligible to compete in some of the following tiers:
Tier G: Iron 1 + Iron 2 + Placement
Tier FG: Iron 2 + Bronze 1
Tier F: Bronze 1 + Bronze 2
Tier EF: Bronze 2 + Silver 1
Tier E: Silver 1 + Silver 2
Tier DE: Silver 2 + Gold 1
Tier D: Gold 1 + Gold 2
Tier CD: Gold 2 + Platinum 1
Tier C: Platinum 1 + Platinum 2
Tier BC: Platinum 2 + Sapphire 1
Tier B: Sapphire 1 + Sapphire 2
Tier AB: Sapphire 2 + Ruby 1
Tier A: Ruby 1+
Tier S: Ruby 2+
Tier X: Diamond 1+
If you're just getting started, you will be placed in either Iron or Bronze. You'll typically see the seasoned veterans in Sapphire or above.

If Waluigi Wiggler was appreciated a little more, We would’ve had Funky Kong Scooty and Wiggler Squared in the meta alongside Waluigi Wiggler and Wario Scooty. That would’ve been PEAK to see Funky Kong dominating online lobbies like he did in mkwii 😂😂😂

What we got is also nice, but genuinely all of those characters are funny, and Wiggler Squared is just the best combo name

I still use funky either way even though he’s been Nerf I’m happy he’s in the game now, alongside with Diddy those 2 are pretty much my mains now.

Honestly I feel like Funky Kong would be a better meta as it would give Wii vibes and Yoshi you know just might need a break after a while for being the current meta

So you're telling me Waluigi is an heavyweight
While heavyweights may not be meta anymore, they can still be solid picks for bagging combos. I've been using Funky Kong on the City Tripper with Rollers and Paper Glider due to it's 3.75 speed stat with a great overall stat distribution to preform the best outcome to bagging without getting hindered by my other poor stats. It may not be perfect, but it's in my opinion, Funky Kong's best combo for winning races.
You'd think he's be alright on the Mr. Scooty, which don't get me wrong, he still is but Pauline on the Teddy Buggy has the near-exact same stats with a higher Mini-Turbo.
(I ramble on my comments to get a point a lot, don't I?)

At the end of MK8DX support, they should just release one more balance patch to make Funky Kong the best character in the game again. Just cuz.

Having no meta is incredibly hard to do. They would either have to remove stats, which would be a terrible choice, or somehow make every combo balanced, which is near impossible.

Nintendo, why? I love Yoshi and I’m happy he’s meta, but I feel like the balance patch was specifically to take Waluigi and Wario’s crowns and Funky and Wiggler’s future crowns and gave them to Yoshi, the Princesses (not Rosalina), and Birdo.
But hey, why am I complaining? I don’t even use the meta.
I’m glad he isn’t since I hate optimization. It takes away from the fun of variety.
