Saying women want this and are happy is like saying that the slaves wanted to be slaves. "The slaves were happy on the plantation. They were given food and had a roof over their heads. They were given a purpose. If we were to free them they would in turn become lost, dejected and without purpose. Starving and sleeping in the wilds - unwanted. We are keeping slaves for their own good. The slave that has never known the life without his master is never going to be a free man. Ask any one of them and they will smile and say that they love their master and that they are grateful for everything that he provides." If you need the oppressed to speak out about their oppression then you can very easily justify any atrocity. Many oppressed peoples are convinced that they deserve their lot in life. Sometimes they are even grateful for it. You don't need religion for that. Just listen to women living in abusive relationships. "He beats me for my own good. He did it because he loves me." When you hold power over people you can gaslight them into believing anything. They are not a reliable witness to their own plight.

My father was deployed to Afghanistan. During his tour he helped in establishing, and was assigned to protecting a school for Muslim girls so they could get an education. From what I understand he got to know some of them fairly well. The school was attacked and was blown up and my father had to help carry the bodies of the dead girls out of the rubble. This caused my father to develop PTSD and put a massive strain on my relationship with him. As a child (and the only girl in the family) this was very confusing and painful for me and it wasn’t until my mother told me the story that I understood why he became so cold after deployment. The culture in the Middle East is very messed up and I don’t understand the mindsets of people who would rather kill children than relinquish control. The only thing I can do is pray that God will judge them accordingly in the end.

Well, their faith in their interpretation of god’s will is what demands they commit these atrocities. Personally I, as an atheist, believe that faith in god ultimately drives many people to use that faith as an excuse to hate. Essentially, they use god and religion as a scapegoat to hate, while admonishing themselves of guilt. Note that I’m not placing names because this isn’t an exclusive behaviour to any religion, or even religion itself for that matter. People will always find any excuse to enact their hatred, hiding behind banners of belief as a shield from criticism.
We had a lot of friends at the military reserve base where my mum used to run the mess hall/bar and they told us very similar stories. When we (Canada) finally pulled out it was half relief because those schools would no longer be targeted because of our presence and half the fear that despite the training and supplies we left with the people, they would probably not hold out for long. The kids were so scared at first too.. afraid that the presents the foreign soldiers gave them might be a trick. Not to mention the Taliban using kids as bombs essentially and tricking the foreign soldiers... that was one of the more disturbing ones I heard about. Especially because so many of our soldiers were parents and so giving them gifts was sort of like projecting what they wish they could do for their own child onto another child.. and then to have to see that child die. I can see why a few of the guys I knew came back so different and had to be discharged completely. I remember one guy who claimed he didn't need psychological help but he was very clearly deeply disturbed by what he saw. Sadly a lot of soldiers don't think they need help after they return and the tough-guy boys club attitude makes it really hard for them to ask for help. I think help should be mandatory for all deployed soldiers upon return personally. Just because PTSD is not always super obvious doesn't mean it's not there and I think anyone who serves as a soldier deserves to be taken care of after all we ask of them

@@CNTconnoisseur When it is happening in your own country, for your own possessions, your own family, your own rights most people would.
Ask any one of them and they will smile and say that they love their master and that they are grateful for everything that he provides."
If you need the oppressed to speak out about their oppression then you can very easily justify any atrocity.

@@ArekuHana I agree with most of what you said, but saying every man and woman has free will is not true. You can see in this video that these women do not have free will because everything they do is being controlled by men. If they dare exercise their "free will" they might be killed for it.
