Not that simple. Place and environment definitely affects most of the people there even if just a little. But I still agree that we should judge individually but still keep the cultures in mind.
Trust me, I've lived most of my teenage life in the Philippines, and honestly people are more apathetic there than on western countries, not everybody but majority don't give crap and people most of the time invalidates mental disorders, maybe because of ignorance and harder life, so yeah I think there are more culturally caring countries than others.
@@ChristinaMagma It can be interpreted as you suggesting that Bella Poarch is an animal as a joke, like how weirdos say women are dogs. But I assume you had good intentions with that post.
Some people ask why she acts like a child sometimes. And the answer is: she never had a childhood. It’s a thing called Age Regression. It’s when you have been traumatized at a young age, and use your inner child to try an cope. Not everyone uses it, some are just awful, or view themselves as grown adults even if they aren’t. I personally do what she does, and majority of the time I don’t even mean to do it. And sometimes she’s just doing a anime thing, gotta know the difference!
The fact that she's trying so hard not to cry. She's so strong, if that was me I would literally cry my soul out, she's so brave and strong. She deserves her success
Definitely! I feel bad for her. You can definitely tell she’s holding back tears. She deserves to have success. So she got adopted and then her step dad treated her like crap. So she just had a bad life overall. Poor girl.
Her parents treated her like garbage and expected her to be their servant. I’m so happy she moved to the USA, otherwise who knows where she would be now.
I think it doesn't have so much to do with her living in the Philippines. I know a lot of asian parents are really stricts but not all of them are abuse like this.
I have Filipino parents but they treat me good. They let me do what I want and tries to understands me. Mga pinoy jan alam naman natin mahal tayo magulang natin at pasalamat talaga tayo if maganda pakikitungo ng magulang natin sa atin. Kaso may instances kasi talaga na mali na ang ginagawa ng parents.
As a person who was abused often as a child, I can relate to her saying the abuse felt normal. I was abused so often that I thought that's just how life is and everyone gets abused like this. Like her, I didn't realize what was done to me was wrong and abusive. My heart goes out to her. ❤️
When I was young I hit and bit my brother so much and I regret it so much I feel rly bad I don't do it anymore and I will never do it again idk why I did it I was so mean
@Imbroke- At least you show remorse. Most abusers have no remorse. Plus I'm sure you were a kid when you were mean. As long as you don't so the same as an adult, what you did is forgivable. I'm sure you treat your brother well now. It's never too late to apologize and try to make up for what you did. 👍🏽✌🏾
I see. Her stepdad is an American. Really hate hearing about American retirees in the Philippines who are microagressive towards Filipinos. Some will try to hide it but they're still pretty obvious.
Her tiktok contents mostly about cute things, anime or any child would enjoy and we know now the reason. She was robbed of her childhood. She didn’t experience what a normal child should experience. And now that she can finally afford to do things she can’t do in the past, some idiots would comment hateful and malicious speech. Let her live.

@Penelope Secret Same here, I remember being extremely depressed from being bullied and seeing other people get bullied. Deleting it was probably one of the best things I did for my mental health too.
but its the exact same for me. people trying to say that they have mental issues so that gives a free pass for some to be monsters. i have mental disorders and one of them is PTSD and i am a normal person with can i say even good moral grounds because i treat people like i wan to be treated and i mean EVERYONE in my life i treat like that. i could never see myself acting like an asshole and then being like "i have PTSD so...".
Everybody has a different way of dealing with things. It doesn’t mean that you had shit and you dealt with it with ease doesn’t mean it’s should be the same thing what others do to deal with their shit. When people say i have a problem with this would you say “oh aren’t we all have one”, that’s invalidating a person having the problem.
@Kairy Night i definitely agree with you on that. But you missed the issue here, which the issue was “you having a PTSD or any mental health issue and you being an asshole or hurting someone shouldn’t be related at all because if one can control his mental health issues and avoid havoc then it isn’t a problem”. Yes everyone should be punished based on the bad things they do, but crossing out mental health issue as a factor shouldn’t be the case, otherwise what are psychiatrist/psychologists are for.

It's so sad u can really see her trying to hold back tears :( she's amazing she escaped her abusive parents, served the army for 4 years and has an amazing voice
yeah as much as I dont want people to interpret filipino neighbours and parents like this nor generalize ppl here not caring at all or giving a shit when sum1's clearly not treated right, I can't rlly speak for others cuz it might be more common from what i observe or just might be different in their situation.
My neighbors shouts at their kids all the time and really wanted to talk to them about how they treat the kids but no one does that and no one would encourage that here. On the internet they even glamorize like how typical asian or filipino mom does. How their flying off their slippers on their kids as part of discipline. I have the same problem with my mom and dad as a kid. As the youngest in the family i have to give respect to my sister no matter what even though she’s clearly physically abusive.
Same I literally grew up hearing very young children next door being beaten and its so heartbreaking to hear them scream "enough" or "just kill me mom" most parents here have anger issues and are abusive. And then after the beating they will guilt trip these babies and would talk them down about how they're beaten because they're loved. I mean if you can sit and talk to your child in the first place why the need for beating? Bella was from the province but here in the slums of Metro Manila its so common to hear kids being abused and old parents being attacked by their adult children. So many times I told my mom how its heartbreaking but of course no one would interfere the most they can do is treat this as a juicy gossip. Most moms wont meddle with other moms because almost all of them do the same so they cant really talk.
these neighbors might just be afraid to meddle with their business because her stepdad is American. but usually, in my neighborhood everybody has a close bond. for example, when something happened to my dad almost all of the neighbors were in our house lol. and this applies to everyone in the neighborhood also. if something like child abuse happens, get ready to be nagged at by the elders lmao
@@nanan8992 Children nowadays here are so disrespectful. You can hear them cussing at you for no reason or to their parents. I think it often happens to unresponsible parents. I hate how foreigners romantisize the Philippines because stuff like this happens on a daily basis. Filipinos just really care about other peoples perseption of them that's why it may seems we are happy on the outside. Today's filipino youth are f*ckin depressed because of all this generational trauma
And people wonder why she's so quiet in public. Look at what she's gone through. She's had the shit end of everything for half her life (or more). She's always got to be wondering who actually likes her or if people are just trying to talk to her to bully or try to troll when she's walking down the street. I see all these videos titled " Bella being rude to her fans" and it's really just a reporter or photographer following her around asking her crap! And she's not even being rude, she just looks scared or awkward.
@양반의사 Stop spreading this weird stereotype that all Asians are docile and shy or whatnot. Asian culture puts emphasis on respect, not being fucking scared of people or socially awkward. Bella is literally a product of abusive and absent parenting, both of which are NOT normal in any culture. making your kid into a slave and completely degrading them for the entire existence is NOT normal.
this is the things that makes the culture worse they keep saying that it's the culture like that so that seems normal when it literally causes kids have traumatic past that may develop some problems and a high possibility of panicking everytime someone goes to them or talk to them ik because this is currently what i'm experiencing rn and it pisses me off whenever they say that it's the culture so it's normal, it's the culture that you shouldn't romanticize about, you shouldn't hit your kid
@양반의사 So it's "normal" for Asian parents to refuse for their child to shower after shoveling poop, and are always made to sit on the floor, refused meals/getting slapped for not cleaning well enough, or for your nickname to be a derogatory name like "stupid bitch" when you're a literal child, all while the other siblings could do what they wanted? No this is abuse, period. That man is a white American man and even though he didn't raise his kids there, he knew that treating your kids that way is bad because he stopped being as harsh when they had to move back to America. He just benefited from the "mind your own business" culture in the Philippines.

It makes more sense knowing her dad is American, because most retired american soldiers/navy usually go and hunt younger women in Asia mostly in the slums, then live a comfortable life there because of the currency and those marriages usually don’t end up well. I would know because a majority of my classmates before their dad/stepdad is american. you will usually find a lot of americans living close to military bases.
This was sad but when the host kept generalizing the abuse as a cultural thing was so weird. Abuse is abuse. It was interesting when he found out the dad was American and the aunt was Filipino.
I was about to say that but I almost think “this is just the culture” is something she needs to tell herself bc it’s less painful than “my parents are abusive and no one helped us”

The way Ethan is asking these questions is how a lot of people question me about my past, & it makes me EXTREMELY uncomfortable. It's as if you said someone "roped" you, & instead of being there for you, someone asked you to "explain every little detail & exactly what they did". It's VERY anxiety-inducing & makes me feel like I'm a "thing" they're looking at & not an actual person.

Being a Filipino myself, I can honestly say that the Filipino culture cares more about foreigners than their own people. We have such strong Filipino pride but then, Filipinos would choose to side with foreigners all the time rather than their own just to have that good reputation towards the foreigners. Bella's adopted father should've been called out or reported by Bella's teachers or adopted mother and that could've prevented some of the abuse that was going on in the household but since he's a foreigner, he received special treatment in the Philippines.
@Tranny Niggot Fagger Whore No. It's pretty much the same like in the US. My only traumatic childhood experience is being bullied by other kids. My parents are awesome. Maybe you just happened to run into filipinos that have those kind of experience.
@Tranny Niggot Fagger Whore Parents hitting children are not considered abuse in Asia. Parents and elders teaching children to become breadwinners is normalized in Asia. It's a cycle of abuse because these abused children grows up and have their own family and they'll just do the same to their own children. The study was conducted among the 3,866 study respondents, aged 13 to 24, from 17 regions in the Philippines. Physical violence (66.3%) and psychological violence (62.8%) are the most common forms of child abuse. Another finding is that 8 in 10 children experienced a form of abuse. "Eighty percent of the 3,866 respondents aged 13 to 24 years had experienced some form of violence in their lifetime, whether in the home, school, workplace, community or during dating," the study said. Severe violence, Half of the domestic physical abuse is in the form of corporal punishment such as spanking, pulling the hair or ear-twisting; a third of these cases involve more severe forms of physical punishment such as slapping, kicking, attempting to drown, or burning. Child abuse happens in every country. But I do believe that it's more severe in Asian countries.
Taking care of your mental health is very important especially when you have unresolved childhood traumas. It'll show up in adulthood and can still trigger others if not dealt with. I hope Bella is getting the help she needs because it shows her. Unresolved traumas especially from abuse have lasting effects on children.
You can see the abuse in the e interview, how she doesn’t really speak unless spoken to, she’s very unsure and cautious about her responses because at any wrong move her dad would react violently/negatively, she is very gentle in the way that she corrects someone’s statement as not to upset them. It makes me so mad that it was that bad that the effects are still so prevalent in her daily life. We love you Bella
G wtf are you talking about, this doesn't mean it has anything to do with her abuse, this could just be who she is like, its a harsh interview to have, next thing you know, yall gonna be saying that the way she breathes has to do with her abuse like... just because she is a survivor doesn't mean that's all she is.
The next time I see comments talking shit about Bella, I would gladly send the link of this video to them. It just saddens me the amount of hate this girl is getting because she got famous and rich for 'doing nothing' and it's unfair for others who has parents who don't earn enough money in their jobs. I mean I get it, it does sound unfair, life's unfair. But isn't it unfair to hate on the innocent girl who's just having fun with life and freedom as well? Like Bella doesn't have anything to do with their jobs, it's not her fault their own families don't have enough money😥
@@Anon_XD but that wouldn't be her fault it would be the followers who decided to follow Bella can't control the algorithm for tiktok so why is she getting the hate? (sorry for my English).
I was born in America and I can relate to her so much. Minus having to move to a different country, I went through the same exact things she has gone through. I also have PTSD and I do not act like her father or even my father did. Sad thing is that I was dealing with being treated like shit by my actual "dad". Another crazy thing is I was 14 when I finally got away from my "dad".
i could hear that she wanted to cry so bad talking about her past, just her voice omg girl....sens love Edit :omg thanks for the likes!!! Very grateful
This explains soooo much. Why she always seems so nervous to speak her native language with Bretman Rock. Why she always seems so uncomfortable in other people’s videos. All of it. This is very interesting!
In the Philippines it is normal for higher class families to hire poor young children as maids and workers…it sounds like that is what happened to her and they chose to legally also adopt her.
She's so brave. I would've choked and cried and not be able to finish telling this story. I remember finally being able to muster the courage to tell my bad past experience to a collage friend that I trust and then she told me that it's better if I don't that to anyone and just keep it to myself. Most Filipino's mentality is something else.
The interviewer seemed to attatch the abuse with the Filipino culture. He was shocked to know that the stepdad was White, however he still continued with saying “American culture is different because THEY CARE” because the AUNT was protecting Bella when they flew to the states, but then found out that the Aunt was a Filipina. So yes, its not the culture, it was about a sick White stepfather.
Most TikTokers have trashy personalities or songs but her personality sounds depressing. I am glad she survived through everything and left her abusive parents. I still listen to Build a B.
When the interviewer thought her stepdad was a Filipino and thought Filipino's culture was horrible. When she told her Aunt who is good and cared for her, he was proud that American are concerned people. But he didn't even know that her Aunt was actually a Filipino. He immediately judge people without knowing the whole detail of the story.
He definitely judged the whole culture without any real details, but let’s look at it this way: he didn’t know her stepdad was white, and Bella talks about how she really couldn’t get any help from school, neighbors, etc... If I wasn’t Filipino I would’ve easily made the same assumptions as Ethan.
No one country is bad, their is good and bad people everywhere. To say that the Philippines is bad is as dumb as saying that America is bad. There is good and bad.
No. Y’all are putting words in his mouth. He was saying the culture is different here compared to how SHE described it in the Philippines. SHE is the one who said people don’t intervene and mind their own business. So when he said it’s different in the US, that’s what he was referring to. Her aunt can be Filipino living in the US and still be a product of American culture. Nothing to do with race or nationality. Y’all need to chill.
Her white stepdad bought a land? And a retired vet? He must be rich and powerful in that poor area. That's probably why no one could help her, because people are poor and have no power. I'm glad bella is successful now, I wish for her happiness and healing.
True, cause our culture is definitely not the "mind your you business" if anything they're mostly up in our business chismis/gossiping, distant relatives giving their inputs who we should or shouldn't date or whatnot.
This is why women should have a career so they can provide for themselves and have a FUCKING VOICE. In my experience this is not just in the Philippines, it's also happening in other asian countries, asian women are usually quiet when the man of the house decides because they're the one who makes money and the wife is afraid of making him upset because she doesn't know how to support the family if he won't provide you $bucks but it's different now and thank God for that!!
I agree. Dad was both physically and verbally abusive towards my mom but still stayed with him for 2 decades until I was old enough to move both of us out because we relied on him financially. Everyone should have a career because otherwise it's easy to get stuck in situations like this, especially where this stuff is common.
@@বদমাইশব্যাটা hmm True Sadly that's Just the majority mentality even My aunt who Has finish 4 university degree kept relying on his husband financial support ever since they immigrate to The US and even though she has lots of overseas job offers such as jobs from UAE and Europe Her husband still control her career I really don't know what going on her head
the interviewer(?) was idk, being biased? i mean, when bella was talking about how abusive her stepdad was, he assumed it was part of filipino culture without knowing her stepdad is white. when she talked about her aunt being the first one to care about her, he said it’s part of american culture, like they care about other people and then bella says her aunt is a filipina. that was a huge slap to the face. i’m not hating though, it was just disturbing.
he’s obvi ignorant, you can tell he’s aware tho… his body language and the way he trails off when assuming things. you can still see he’s trying to understand and has no bad intentions. it’s easy to see thing in a black and white view, i definitely felt weird and offended at first watching him. but i can see that he knows he is ignorant about certain topics. i respect him
He didn't assume abuse was part of the filipino culture, he knows her stepdad is American they mention it later on in the video. The culture part was about people minding their own business and not getting involved when they notice children being abused. Which in Bella's case that was exactly what happened, no one really helped her over there and even she agreed on the "culture being like that" because that is what she experienced personally.
@@oqeufh Well actually truth be told when you're an American living in Philippines you would be privileged because people look up to you. So probably the people in the area were afraid knowing that he's American and avoided to reach out. Because here in our barangay people are really kind. So I don't think it's the culture but the people in the area's mindset.

Can't hate on a girl for figuring out the system and making bank and fame from it. Especially one with a traumatic upbringing. She almost killed herself but instead found Tik Tok to express herself and now a music career with a historic debut.
As someone with an extremely traumatic childhood, and just history in general, I can relate in a big way. You have to force yourself to normalize stuff in your head to cope or move forward. There's a certain level of fundamental abuse you can't fully recover from, ever.
Now imagine that to be your culture. Although it's not to the extent of how she has been treated, but most of our punishment is borderline abusive both mentally and physically, and in our culture the more you succumb to it the more they'll pick on you, and that's why you don't have a choice but to suck it up and learn to fight back.
She was a domestic helper who didn't get paid. They didn't adopt her because they wanted a new child to nurture and love. They wanted free labor from a minor and in return, her adopted parents would just give her some food and shelter.

@@unbiasly it is normal lol normal is what is what happens on an everyday basis in that culture and region, but it aint acceptable
@양반의사 yours is the most stupid comment i read today. I totally disagree.
this is the things that makes the culture worse they keep saying that it's the culture like that so that seems normal when it literally causes kids have traumatic past that may develop some problems and a high possibility of panicking everytime someone goes to them or talk to them ik because this is currently what i'm experiencing rn and it pisses me off whenever they say that it's the culture so it's normal, it's the culture that you shouldn't romanticize about, you shouldn't hit your kid

I grew up in an insanely abusive household. My brother used to force himself on me (I'm a boy, btw) when I was 5 to when I was 10, when I told my parents, my dad beat the shit out of me & made me sleep outside that night. I've never been to a theme park, or had a birthday party, or anything like a normal child. My mental state is absolutely wrecked for life. My relationships will never be normal.

If they can manipulate you into making it okay u will believe it. I’m so sorry you went through that!
I'm a teacher and after this year of distance learning, it's eye opening to see how many parents talk to their children in general. Many are amazing parents, but some speak or act aggressively to the point I always had to be ready to mute kids who I knew had rough homes. It's so easy to traumatize and hurt children. Adults are acting very radically and the kids are watching... We are so self-involved we are ignoring them and letting them play on TikTok unsupervised. In about 5 years, we will see the fruits of this period

This, i could really agree, i mean yes filipinos are hospitable, but mostly that is because we look up on foreigners esp the Caucasians.😔
@Tranny Niggot Fagger Whore Parents hitting children are not considered abuse in Asia. Parents and elders teaching children to become breadwinners is normalized in Asia. It's a cycle of abuse because these abused children grows up and have their own family and they'll just do the same to their own children. That's probably the main reason why nobody really called the cops on him. In everybody's point of view in the Philippines, he was just a normal father disciplining his daughter.
You want some visual evidence of just how f**ked a Filipino household can be? Watch LOLA WENDING on RUclips. According to a new study of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), most children experience violence where they should feel safest - in their own homes.
The National Baseline Study on Violence against Children launched on Tuesday, December 6, said that 60% of physical violence suffered by children, and 38% of psychological violence, happen in their homes.

I mean I get it, it does sound unfair, life's unfair. But isn't it unfair to hate on the innocent girl who's just having fun with life and freedom as well? Like Bella doesn't have anything to do with their jobs, it's not her fault their own families don't have enough money😥
I have no idea who she is but she's very sweet. What was the hate about? 🤔
@@breakfastattiffanys741 for head bopping getting 60 million followers in tiktok cuz of that
i wouldn’t do that, it’s like wanting them to pity her. if they dislike her so what
Yesss...me too
@@Anon_XD but that wouldn't be her fault it would be the followers who decided to follow Bella can't control the algorithm for tiktok so why is she getting the hate? (sorry for my English).
I was born in America and I can relate to her so much. Minus having to move to a different country, I went through the same exact things she has gone through. I also have PTSD and I do not act like her father or even my father did. Sad thing is that I was dealing with being treated like shit by my actual "dad". Another crazy thing is I was 14 when I finally got away from my "dad".
i could hear that she wanted to cry so bad talking about her past, just her voice omg girl....sens love
Edit :omg thanks for the likes!!! Very grateful
Her eyes got red too.
She didn’t deserve anything that happened in her childhood, she seems like such a sweet person 💔
Yes
I love how people just listen to one side of the story and believe it, she could be totally lying about this whole thing....
all I see in her is hypocracy , her fame was the easiest thing she's ever earned , a rough past doesn't make her fame deserved
This explains soooo much. Why she always seems so nervous to speak her native language with Bretman Rock. Why she always seems so uncomfortable in other people’s videos. All of it. This is very interesting!
yes
Becoz her childhood was creepy n she can't express her felling
@Crackpipe lol be quiet no one would lie about that

She wasn't adopted, they took her for child labor
yeah but i feel like she doesn’t want to see it like that
@@zaboselma8826 it’s true, I don’t think anyone would want to be seen like that especially if the person is getting a lot of attention.
She was, look at her lastname
What does that mean?
@@kendement071 we know but we all know why they actually adopted her, they didn’t love her.
In the Philippines it is normal for higher class families to hire poor young children as maids and workers…it sounds like that is what happened to her and they chose to legally also adopt her.
True
Disgusting
She's so brave. I would've choked and cried and not be able to finish telling this story. I remember finally being able to muster the courage to tell my bad past experience to a collage friend that I trust and then she told me that it's better if I don't that to anyone and just keep it to myself. Most Filipino's mentality is something else.
I'm sorry, but that's a shitty thing to say to someone. Maybe the context is just lost in text.

@@fighterflight He obviously judged the Culture because it was not American. You could clearly tell he had this American Hero Mentality.
He has a history of judging third world countries and calling them shit. His t-series vs PewDiePie video. He is an asshole himself.

When the interviewer was in disbelief when he learnt that her dad was an american and her aunt was a filipino HAHAHAHA
Her white stepdad bought a land? And a retired vet? He must be rich and powerful in that poor area. That's probably why no one could help her, because people are poor and have no power. I'm glad bella is successful now, I wish for her happiness and healing.

Yes, that's true. Most Americans that come here in the Philippines are richer than people here because mostly, they are retired army
True, cause our culture is definitely not the "mind your you business" if anything they're mostly up in our business chismis/gossiping, distant relatives giving their inputs who we should or shouldn't date or whatnot.
Philippines once a colony of the usa thats why theres alot of americans in here
Filipinos also have a culture of respecting higher class people and humble themselves on them
This is why women should have a career so they can provide for themselves and have a FUCKING VOICE.
Hmm no I think it happens In Arabic countries only

I agree. Dad was both physically and verbally abusive towards my mom but still stayed with him for 2 decades until I was old enough to move both of us out because we relied on him financially. Everyone should have a career because otherwise it's easy to get stuck in situations like this, especially where this stuff is common.
@@বদমাইশব্যাটা hmm True Sadly that's Just the majority mentality even My aunt who Has finish 4 university degree kept relying on his husband financial support ever since they immigrate to The US and even though she has lots of overseas job offers such as jobs from UAE and Europe Her husband still control her career
I really don't know what going on her head
the interviewer(?) was idk, being biased? i mean, when bella was talking about how abusive her stepdad was, he assumed it was part of filipino culture without knowing her stepdad is white. when she talked about her aunt being the first one to care about her, he said it’s part of american culture, like they care about other people and then bella says her aunt is a filipina. that was a huge slap to the face. i’m not hating though, it was just disturbing.
more so the culture of the area not the race
he’s obvi ignorant, you can tell he’s aware tho… his body language and the way he trails off when assuming things. you can still see he’s trying to understand and has no bad intentions. it’s easy to see thing in a black and white view, i definitely felt weird and offended at first watching him. but i can see that he knows he is ignorant about certain topics. i respect him
I don’t think he was being biased, at least not purposely. It seemed he was trying his best to understand by asking certain questions
I am glad Bella decided to overcome the negativity in her life and do what she loves. Her album means a lot to me.

Can't hate on a girl for figuring out the system and making bank and fame from it. Especially one with a traumatic upbringing. She almost killed herself but instead found Tik Tok to express herself and now a music career with a historic debut.

Idk why we're glorifying her for infantilizing & sexualizing herself. It's such an incredibly toxic message to put out there.

She isn't Cinderella, because she saved herself. No prince was needed. She is a very tough young woman. Greatest respect! 🫶
