    Well done Tony! This is a great example that you can still have a great HT experience even if the placement of things are not 100% to "Dolby Spec". Need more room tours like this. Thanks for sharing.

    Thank you for showing that you mounted the xgimi on the ceiling. All reviews I've watched never hung it from the ceiling mount. Please make a video of you installing it hanging and what mount you used? I'm convinced the xgimi will be the next projector I purchase.

      Initially I did do the review of the XHU on a stand but as it was so good, I decided to keep it and use it in this space. It's much better than some other reviewers gave it credit for but I calibrated mine manually with a sensor so the image is out of this world good.

  • @stevenlawrence2232
    @stevenlawrence2232 11 месяцев назад +1

    Fantastic result on the room overall Tony. I was particularly interested in your mention of ghost wire in the first video, I see you didn't need to use it after all but for my self install approach and KEF uni q Eggs hanging up on the Ceiling for atmos I think it's going to be really useful for tidying up my install! (The leftover grey paint I've got being particularly handy)
    Dead set some people just get so fricking pretentious about speaker placement. Many installers ie people with real world experience often recommend side surrounds slightly forward of the listening position with 7 base layer speakers. I've been doing this for 9 mths in my living room setup and as you point out Tony they sound fantastic in that spot. What I did do though was place the back surrounds slightly wider to compensate. I think a bit of symmetry is always a good thing.

    • @BuildMontage
      @BuildMontage  11 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, the ghostwire was purchased however, I realised that you have to still plaster over it and then paint and I felt that it wasn't worth the extra effort for what is a casual space. The sleeving around the edges isnt noticeable, it just blends into the skirting boards, so I felt that would work. For a more dedicated room, I would certainly do it. Also agree with your comments about speaker placement. Of course its best to do it correctly according to spec but if you can't you compromise and be fine with it - but some people tend to think if it cant be textbook it cant be good so dont bother :) Good luck with your setup!

    • @BuildMontage
      @BuildMontage  11 месяцев назад

      My settings are based on a calibration with my room and screen conditions and likely wouldn't help you very much, and could make the picture worse for you. I do get asked a lot and this has generally been the case. I am going to do a video on it now that its been in the setup for about a month so I may show the settings in there and you could try at your own risk.

    • @BuildMontage

      The overhead speakers were done in accordance to the Dolby Atmos guide for 7.2.4 - so I can't recall exact numbers but my electricans worked out the angles and distances from the seated position. You can Google "Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 guide" and it should show you.

    Room looks Amazing. I'm undecided on what to use for ATMOS speakers. There seems to be a lot of debate where to place ATMOS speakers, on the wall as front and rear heights or on top in the ceiling above as you have installed. Do you have a opinion which is the correct or best lay out. I'm looking at KRIX IC-50 for in ceiling, I have Polk r700 and R400 LCR would the KRIX IC-50 blend in with the polks, Also I like to upgrade to a 3 way center speaker like the Krix - Vortex Mk2 - Centre Speaker or svs ultra center instead of the Polk L400as it's is too expensive. Would any of those options blend in ok with my R700 fronts. Cheers.

    • @BuildMontage
      @BuildMontage  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks, I really love this space to chill out in on the daily! Overhead speakers tend to suffer less from requiring a consistent mattched speaker as the bed layers do, and you can't go wrong with Krix, or the IC52 speakers. The Vortex for me was a goal as I had heard it many times and also have the bigger brother Epicentrix downstairs, so really wanted to go with it and I haven't looked back. I'd go listen to one and allow that to help make your decision.
