Always love talking with Jim while he was working. Last time I was there he was working on the logistics of building a perimeter wall. He was going to have to haul the rock in to have enough rock to build it. Thanks for the video. Nice to see how much progress he has made.
I saw this pop up about a week before we planned a trip to I see it. I waited to watch it but we just looked it over yesterday. It is a really neat thing to see. That type of skill is pretty rare. Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought it was a bit sketchy up high.
I visited the "Bishop Castle," a fascinating structure, way back in 1986 after a personal tour of the steel mill at Pueblo, CO. I never got up in the castle itself but met the owner who was building it in his adjacent home while his wife was serving breakfast to him (and his kid, as I recall). I have a fear of heights and there would have been no way for me to have stepped out on those catwalks. You got some "guts!" Thanks for sharing!
Awesome, Zach! This is really neat. Thanks for sharing this post. I have been out in that part of Colorado but never knew this existed. I'll have to check this out when I get back in the Pueblo area.
Visited back in 2002 and 2004. I remember seeing Jim working on the tower, and it was fun to see the progress he made by the time we made it back. Love it!
Oddly I've been there back in late 1980's to early 1992 to check it out and it was no where near what it is now. I've been wanting to go again and just have free time to enjoy it. I live less than 2 hours from it however since I operate a tow truck and have been called multiple times by stranded drivers at the castle or within 5-10 miles of it i dont get to play tourist but soon I will take time to climb all over that castle. It is awsome
Zack, simply amazing and beautiful. In my younger days there was a talented older gentleman who had several forges for iron work. He made everything from scratch. His home became part of our church and we kept his wonderful iron work. Than you for taking us along.
That's a cool place, have to see that some day . The very top would be a great starting point for a zip line . Call the ride the pucker master LMAO . Good to see a video from you buddy. Hope all is well , stay safe . Terry
That is wild. In miami they have the coral castle. The guy built it with just hand tools. There is a 40 ton door that blowes back and forth with the breeze....again, built with no sense of urgencey. Thanks for sharing, cheers
Wow! I used to spend a lot of time up in those parts as a field rep in the oil/gas/power gen business... I'm shocked to realize I never knew this existed with all the times I've sped back and forth, in and around the area. At my age I won't be doing much traveling anymore, but I sure appreciate getting to see some of this stuff that I missed! Thanks for posting this!
I think a company man was telling me about this place 10 years ago. If your still in Colorado on your back by Wichita Kansas is the Coronado Heights castle that was built a long time ago possibly by explorers.
I've always been told that bishops castle is bad a**. But I never made the trip to there. Have u seen the wagon spokes around LaVeta? Really neat around that area too. Ofcourse you know of the sand dunes out by Alamosa.
@@TheZachLife Its called wagon wheel. Because it was chambers of lava from a volcano that spiral out under earth, now exposed on surface. Also check out Ludlow massacre site on 25. Its spooky as hell. U can check it out and see what you would think about when the whole town went on labor strike. Mine high ups hired a militia to go in and basically massacre the whole town for the Civil disobedience uprising. My brother has an electrical business up in laveta so I've been around to a lot of the sites around those areas. Hope you have a great day sir and ma'am.
Man I’m glad that’s in Colorado! because if it was in California they would not allow the public on that railing! shitty welds are known by the state to cause cancer…….😊
when Zak says it pretty sketchy you know it's sketchy ...
Hahaha
It’s amazing what some people’s legacy in life is, good on him for having the tenacity to keep going and finish something so BIG
You know you've made it when your names on a gps.
Having been a welder years ago, I'm all the time looking for the bad stuff when I'm on anything welded! That would have freaked me out!
Hahaha it was rough.
Really cool, thanks for posting.
I can not believe they let the general public out on those catwalks. Thanks for sharing this is a really cool place.
It's pretty wild.

So awesome. Thank you for sharing this. Little hidden gems like this are hard to find these days.
I got to take a field trip there in high-school. Pretty cool place.
Thats Awesome.
WOW !! ... Visiting here will only encourage you, Zach! ... there's something unique like this in your crystal ball - keep 'tubing your story ... 8-)
Hahaha you never know lol.

I wish I had met him when he was still woking on it.
Love nearby here and always love checking this out every year or so. Always new stuff

I wish its progress had been documented better. It would have been interesting to see the monthly progress over the years.
I'd like to spend the second half (hopefully) of my life building something like that
That's the way alot of us look at you. You do some pretty amazing things also thanks for sharing this and enjoy your time of great video
Hahaha thanks.
I heard that he was going to build a toterhome at first but decided it was too much work and built a castle instead.
Hahaha.
I loved my visit there. Its a really neat place to be.
Love ur channel. Love the tag-along-tuesday. Don't listen to the touble makin nitpickers, your doin great.

Thanks for sharing Zach.

Wow, that's awesome ! ! !
Come check out the Colorado oil field!!
Howdy Zach that looks pretty cool
Been there years ago - wild place
When I saw this video I remembered why I can’t stand heights!
And why I almost flunked out of Air Assault School @Fr.Campbell,Ky back in the 90’s.
Would love to know more about this place and the man that built it. How’s the toter working out? Would you change anything? Thanks for sharing!
Theres quite a bit of info out there on it and him. So far I'm really pleased.
Thats so damn cool!!! There's a castle or two here in Ohio believe it or not!
Intersting.
@@TheZachLife one of them is a restraunt/hotel that was on one of those rescue shows with Gordon Ramsey im pretty sure as well
I think a company man was telling me about this place 10 years ago.

I'm sure those were just temporary tack welds 😁Otherwise an impressive building.
Hahaha
Hi Zach yeah if fuel prices ever come down maybe we can afford to go see this place, sketchy isn't the half of it.
Yeah it was something else.
Dang it! Just got back from CO. Maybe next time. Take care Zach
Now here I thought I lived in a castle. Does that give you a bunch of ideas for the next place you build? Excellent video, thank you for sharing.
Hahaha you never know.
I'm not afraid of heights, it's the sudden stops that scare the 💩💩 out of me.😉😅🤣🤣
Hahaha
Uh oh! Next up on The Zack Life - Colorado Castle build EP1
Interesting part will be when its sold. How does one value such a thing?
One billion dollars!! 🤣🤣🤣
I've been really high before to Zach.
I laughed when I heard my self say that.
I seen this but didnt stop. Should have. We were at Royal gorge not far from there.
According to a recent news clipping, the old man has Parkinson's now.
He looked pretty bad.
@@TheZachLife Says his son is taking over. Old man beat cancer in '14, but Parkinson's finally forced him to put down the wheelbarrow.
Don't know u do those heights, I can barely gage A few 15ft stocks tanks on my route 😬😱
did you have to sign a liability waiver? neat place
Very interesting! What was the background of the gentleman who built it? What did he do for a living?
He had a some kind of a steel/blacksmiths shop.
Howdy
I'd climb all over that, wife would stay on ground. Pretty cool
Whats up Zach.
I've always been told that bishops castle is bad a**. But I never made the trip to there. Have u seen the wagon spokes around LaVeta? Really neat around that area too. Ofcourse you know of the sand dunes out by Alamosa.
I have not, I'll have to swing by there.

Hell! Sketchy is your middle name!
Don’t structures need to be signed off by a mechanical engineer? Not sure how a building like that applies for occupancy.
Why did he build it?
Because he could.
I guess he wanted a castle.
Man I’m glad that’s in Colorado! because if it was in California they would not allow the public on that railing! shitty welds are known by the state to cause cancer…….😊
Is their a sign enter at your own risk, and a place to sign in!
Yes exactly.
Once again proving, a mind is a terrible thing.
