    Love my MSR helmet, all my MSR gear for that matter. Boots, pants, jersey, and gloves. All great products and priced right as well

    I may try one of these the next time I buy a helmet. MSR makes some pretty good products. I bought their Voyager pants and jacket. They are exceptionally good quality for the price.

    MSR helmets are excellent cheap and comfortable helmets which is great so you can refresh them every other year. Helped protect my noggin several times with MIPS. Can't recommend them enough! Merry Christmas !!!

    Happy it's there at the price that it is, with MIPs too boot. I think it'll be a pass for me.
    For the homies who might read this comment, it's that time of year with some closeouts and such, so we're lucky with price. I'm looking at RevZilla, Amazon, and a few other shops that have the MX9 Adv for under 200, with the cheapest color way down at 143.
    Getting unofficial ECE.05 is nice, but the mx9 adventure per Bell is officially ECE.06

    A few years ago this would've been great, but now, I don't think a helmet like this is worth buying. By that I mean, if you already have a 22.05 rated helmet, you can use it and be safe enough, but the 22.06 certification is a significant leap in terms of safety so in 2024-2025 I believe it makes no sense to buy an older standard helmet. If youre buying a brand new helmet just go ahead and buy a 22.06 rated one. I don't usually disagree with our Dork here, but man it's like buying a brand new car with no ABS...

    • @pelanth
      @pelanth 10 часов назад +2

      I have to just say I agree with this comment. Knowing there are 22.06 helmets at this price range makes this a no go.

    • @randomkadrmas2630

      Do you have any recommendations for under $200 in a 22.06 rating?

    • @pepcooper
      @pepcooper 10 часов назад

      @@randomkadrmas2630 I don't know what is available in all of the markets, so I can't speak about prices really other than here in Europe, you can find 22.06 rated helmets under 100€, I think is worth mentioning that here every new model to the market is mandatory to be 22.06 approved so they're everywhere, and the 22.05 that are still there are older stock... maybe in other places they don't bother as much so they're not that common..

    • @steveh545
      @steveh545 9 часов назад

      Agree and disagree. Lots of helmets are sold that aren’t 22.06. the previous version is still probably better than regular DOT requirements. (A spaghetti strainer with chin strap would meet DOT standards). Dollar for dollar, I’d buy the best helmets and boots I could, but you have to consider real world usage. Don’t really need Mx boots for highway travel, and maybe don’t need 22.06 for off-road. (Not knowing exactly what makes 22.06 better. Is it high speed impact, or falling off a dualsport going 10 mph ??). Don’t need AA rated gear off road, not too much sliding going on. This sounds like a good dual sport helmet for the money, but haven’t shopped this type of helmet lately.

    • @pepcooper
      @pepcooper 7 часов назад

      @@steveh545 22.05 helmets were tested with the same impact spots, so a manufacturer could (not that everyone would) make stronger that bit and the rest of the helmet still be weak... 22.06 added more impact spots and if I remember right they are also randomly placed, so it has to be strong on the whole surface of the helmet. But also it implemented the testing of rotational impacts so in general yes, they are way safer in every situation. Obviously a 22.05 top helmet like an Arai is probably better than a sub 100€ 22.06, but in general, I don't think is worth investing in a brand new 22.05 when there are 22.06 already available.

    This sounds like a great “2nd helmet” for local off road rides … + (safe, cool and budget friendly) - (loud on highway)… following that logic what would you recommend as the longer ride (mostly but not exclusively at highway speed) option, focusing on safety, comfortable and budget friendly … the bell mx9 adventure or something else?

    So, this is a good validation video for me. I watched the MSR motovlogger setup video and I was hoping a formal review would have come out a month later. Unfortunately, it didn't, and I ended up with an MX9. Now I did pay slightly less than the MSR helmet but there are two catches. I lost a year of use, a lot of retailers will sell the budget helmets at a great price, but you are not getting 5 years of use out of it, more like 3.5 or 4 years. Also my MX9 has the ece 22.05 not the 22.06 and Im not sure if Bell made any major changes to get the 22.06 certification.
    Learning that the MSR did not have speaker pockets in the foam and slight build issues made me feel like I made the right choice. Also test fitting was easier because I could walk into my local Cycle Gear Try out the dirt version and then order the ADV version. I know that MSR has that Fit Return policy but going to the store and trying it out was easier.
    Also F Cancer. Are there any more charitable motorcycle organizations?

    without going too far into the video. I brought a MT Helmets helmet. and found it very comfortable... but the Matte Black finish and cheap srews holding the visor mechanism started to look shabby quickly, as did the lining. so I brought a more expensive SMK helmet that had a glossy finish and great looking colour scheme... but a vent lever fell off, it is still comfortable, but not as comfortable as the MT was, and then I brought an agv after trying a Bell which did not fit and was very uncomfortable... and to be honest, if the screws in the MT were better quality and the finish stayed in good nick for longer. it would be my preference over the agv. The AGV can get quite uncomfortable after an hour & the MT had the lowest amount of wind noise, was the most comfortable and the visor sat in good positions to allow just enough air flow without blowing into my eyes, and the visor stayed put in high winds. despite being less than 1/2 the price of my agv, I'm very tempted to get a higher up model of the MT helmet if I can find one that isn't just a Matte Black finish... it may look good to start with, but there's much better ideas that look way cooler than Matte Black.

    I’m a surgeon and do deal with head injuries. I also love motorbikes!
    I do struggle with peeks, for adventure riding they are mainly about style.
    However, they do increase the potential for rotational forces in a fall, even if they Snap off.
    I like the look, but don’t think it’s worth the risk to brain and neck.

    This pretty much sums up how I feel about my mx9, I love the mx9 for off road but when it comes to road trips it’s the hornet.

    Can you remove the visor and retain the peak? My Schuberth E2 is too hot in summer on slow technical trails and it gums up in heavy dust (even cleaning it every night on a multi day trip - huge pain). I run with earplugs with speakers so the lack of speaker pockets is no big deal.
