the brain was such an icon in this series and i am absolutely devastated that it is gone. RIP the brain, you will be missed. the new design makes my adhd super happy for some reason, though lmao

But it was really bad. I got 537 points from it by just doing a roundabout.
13:08 - it's interesting how yes, you did have bridges, but now they're banned. I'm thinking that the author updated the game, because a roundabout plus a bridge is a really easy way to cheese the level.
Bridges have never been allowed and game have not got update after steam release.
It is bug, which I don’t know how to replicate, and which fixes restarting the game.

@@Satseful I'm not sure how that could be the case. I have the app on my phone and have the same issue: I have bridges in my build but they're crossed out in the menu so if I rebuilt I wouldn't have them. I definitely didn't cheat or something.
@@kevinkevinholt how that same bug would not be possible at mobile version? And when it is a bug, you don't need cheat to trigger it. I assume, that you are talking one of the levels, where bridges are not allowed.
@@Satseful Ah I misunderstood, I meant I'm not sure how bridges could have never been allowed. I didn't see what you said about a bug. My mistake!
I’ve just binged all the freeways vids and I absolutely love this series. I could do with infinite videos trying to maximize the total efficiency! 🙌🏻
British highway engineer encounters problem....
British highway engineer: "Looks like a good time for a roundabout."
"And if that fails, a magic roundabout!"
And the score is worse. “I swear roundabouts work…. I swear”
For that last one you redid, best I've seen is just over 400, so your score is pretty good. It's weird to me how there really isn't a standard score range in this game, like level 57 is absurd and cracking 200 is nearly impossible, but 75 it's possible to exceed 1000.

I would guess that the brain lost its bridges because the game was updated in-between playing the level the first time and now.
Not sure what triggers it, but there is bug, which sometimes allow you to use bridges at levels, where those are not allowed. Restarting the game fixes that bug. I've replicated that by myself once after resetting my world for a one-try-challenge.
There have not been single update after steam release 2018 (if I remember year correctly), so your update theory is not possible.

@@lukron5593 yeah, i checked and at android there were a bug fixing update, because app did crash at some devices. That update didn't fix bugs which are there every devices. That update was 2019. At steam there have not been updates, after release at 2017. iOS updates couldn't check right now.
Edit. Found the way to check ios. It have received few updates, so it is compatible with new ios versions and some bug fixings, which have appeared only at iphone / ios.

The (probable) cause for a lower score in the last one is that you make your road too short (and you once put an unnecessary converge before a diverge!) The demand from point A to point B in this game is (pre)determined by the arrow thickness, so your road needs to withstand that throughput. In particular, induced demand is not a thing in this game (which is not realistic, but I guess the developer doesn't have the knowledge to implement such a mathematical model).
I gave the smiley face a pince-nez -- might not have been as efficient, but I thought it was a nice way to avoid having a merge before a diverge
After watching freeways I pay a lot more attention to interchanges on the gps
So, the way to beat this game is roundabouts. That’s what I’ve gathered from this episode.

What i was thinking in the level of the 6 entrance/exits and the ufo shop in the middle, 3 exits and entrances can be on one roundabout while the other 3 are on a second round about. Maybe a good idea, maybe not

The scores are pretty much, what I expected. 75 bit less (expected 900) and 72 bit more (expected 300). For 72 I didn't expect that well founded the best layout, even while the non-optimal drawing slows it down, which required the extra road.
Pretty sure you could improve that first level simply by putting the top half of the roundabout under the eyes instead of above, and avoid using bridges completely

I think you're not giving the cars smooth enough transitions from one road to another and there's not enough space between off ramps and on ramps. Least concrete is all well and good but usability I think is also a factor on the efficiency score.
Good stuff the problem with traffic are cars slowing down, people getting off and cars all going in 1 direction despite starting from different points. Great simulation otherwise.

The points are also calculated based on the the difficulty of a level
19:20 you said it yourself, they dont have enough space to mix without blocking the entry point. sometimes its better to make it bulky so guys can go full speed all the time....
At 18:37 you did very bad, because you had merge before the split and the narrower the corners the slower the cars can pass it. It is not only about „use as few concrete as possible“ but also about „make fluent roads“
I think fluent isn‘t the perfect word, but english isn‘t my first language
Fluent describes what you mean adequately.
In this level yellow buses slows down pretty easily, because of high traffic volume. Also yellow buses are slowest to accelerate in this game. So your point is even higher importance in that level, when using the layout, which rce used.
English is not my first language either, so I hope you got the point I tried to tell.

In level 76 in the first attempt for a double roundabout the traffic didn't use it because you connected the outer roundabout into the inner roundabout you didn't connect the roads into the outer roundabout

Clearly those octagonal things are sewer exits. The cars are going there to collect their sewer water. Sewer water comes in grape and lime, it’s the hottest new health drink, full of vitamins, minerals and the occasional rat.
