Dude you got some good fish. Thanks for giving us kayakers some exposure. I have caught bigger bass on my kayak than I have a bass boat. I do believe the stealth has been the key. That and spending more time picking apart an area than I would in a boat, knowing I can motor over to another spot quick.
I love the kayak fishing videos! A lot of the techniques from bass boat can't be done from a kayak so I love seeing the different ways you fish this way.
I love fishing especially out of my kayak. I'm worried if I ever fished out of a bass boat I'm sure I would have to get one . But fishing even from land is awesome.
Guys I’d just like to say thank you for helping my buy fishing gear and not waste money y’all really helped me kick start my fishing career keep it up!!
Love kayak fishin. Makes me feel more connected to the fish/nature being that low to the water if that makes sense lol. Although hooksets and casting definitely takes some getting used to on a yak
I agree that hooksets are a lot more difficult on a kayak than on land or on a boat. I got my first fishing kayak a few years ago and I still struggle with hooking sometimes.
My uncle gave a a 11.5 foot old town loon....so I gave kayaking a try recently lol a little nervous...it is a sit in but...I been out a few times...Hawks flying low over head...calm water...can't beat it
I’ve gone to longer rods. Also lifting up as you pull back on the fish seems to help too. Learning to flip and pitch side arm was a challenge, but skipping is easy af.
Smashing them on a Shimano Zodias and an Expride... Two GREAT rods. Says a lot about each that when limited to a few rods on they Kayak, you grabbed them. During these very trying times, something positive, something that makes you smile, something that gets your mind off the other crap in our news, gives us all a chance to focus on something much more positive. Thank you!!
Hello Matt how are you today. I just want to say I love what you doing. It's awesome to learn some things from you that I didn't know. You have a great Channel. I love kayaking. I like your kayak you got , I like how you had to set up , and I agree with you kayaking it's just awesome. You can take a kayak places that you can't do with a boat. I love boats to. I also like the reef flip flops you are wearing. I am a huge fan up and flip flops. Question man? In the description box where is says what you wearing. You put sun mask , Sun shirt , fishing pants , you didn't put the flip flops in. Come on man you know flip flops is part of boating & kayaking too. "LOL" I am enjoying your Channel. Keep up the good work man.
The under spin was money for me yesterday. Sometimes being confined to a small area can be a good thing. I’ve had some great days were I was forced to fish a small area.
I love kayak fishing. I’ve been on bass boats and it is interesting burning banks moving across the entire lake to hit spots. But I love my yak. It forces me to dissect an area. I normally cover over a mile in a fishing trip. I am looking forward to adding electronics this year to open up more off shore opportunities though.
Biggest take away for me is just seeing how often they smash it on the pops/speed of of the spool at random. I mean it really honestly seems to be than and there virtually every time even if it's just a straight retrieve with a slight speed up on the spool. I really do find that surprising as I may do it once every other cast and you seem to be doing it consistently and it's working for you. Really going to have to remember and throw in more variables/erratic motion at random. Once I notice it it was very surprising how frequently the bass hit it immediately after and really it's just the different camera angle what we normally don't get on the boat.
Hey i know this is a late reply, but i started fishing an s waver like they recommend. It was really amazing to me how many strikes i would get right after the 1st or 2nd twitch. I guess in a sense we are makibg the fish strike. Changed my outlook on a lot of things. Anyway...just thought id add that
Awesome kayak video! Like you, I don’t always feel like taking the Nitro out. Got myself a Hobie Pro Angler 14. I don’t know jack about kayak fishing, so this will be interesting.
Great video! You and Tim should do a video on boat maintenance. I know you guys aren’t mechanics, but what are some things every boat owner should be able to do themselves at home to maintain their boat.
Great video, Matt a good video would be a bank fishing video, way different than boat and even kayak. Tim should pack your bag and send you on a bank fishing challenge.
That Predator that you are fishing out of have safe for word facing Rod holder on the right side funnel that you should get used to using. My fishing partner suggested it to Old Town a few years ago started to incorporate it in their fishing kayaks. It works really well so you don't have to hold the rod between your legs like you're doing. Just a suggestion for you having used a Old Town Predator now for about 5 years both the paddle version in the Predator 13 and now the pedal version in the Predator PDL for the last 3 years.
It looks like you are moving away from Maxima. First with the FC Leader system and now Assassin for Senkos. Also, I see FC Crank sneaking in there as well. It would be great to see an updated video on what lines you are using these days.
You have a keen eye. If it says anything I just packed for a big trip and looking back there are 4 sizes of maxima, 3 sizes of Sniper, 1 size crank FC, 4 sizes Assassin, 2 sizes of fc-100, and of course a pile of braid. Jury is still out as the endless experiment continues but if I draw some new conclusions we'll update it 👍
TacticalBassin that would be cool. I’ve always wanted to hear your thoughts on Shooter so if you could discuss that as well, it would be Christmas come early in my household.
Great video Matt. I always look to see what you are fishing with in the videos and it seems as though you have drifted away from Megabass which you guys seemed to fish more when I first started watching your videos. Do you not feel as strongly as you did regarding Megabass and simply prefer Shimano and G. Loomis?
The bass have been real tentative latley. I was getting little nibbles myself yesterday and it was really windy while yaking. I caught a couple smaller bass but I also caught the biggest pickeral I've ever seen in my entire life. The thing snapped off before I could wieght it but it was atleast 24 inches and looked to be and feel atleast 7 pounds. I took a picture and have video.
Heyy I know you don't fish a lot of custom rods but please try out a custom build on a point blank blank!!! It is something I think you as a avid angular would appreciate they are amazing
Have you guys done a video on your kayaks and gear/tips for them? I'm not seeing one but maybe I'm just missing it. I'd appreciate a video like that because in the near future, I'd be able to afford a nice kayak, but I'm young and from a very poor family and only recently got myself through college (debt), so it'll be a while before a real boat. But I'm tired of getting hung up from the bank and really want a solid, easy to use kayak setup that can find fish, and yours looks that way. Anyway, good vid - Thanks!
With how the underspin worked in getting the bigger bites, I wonder if incorporating a blade on the senko could have also gotten some bigger ones to commit to it??
Hey, wondering if you guys could do a video on a craw style bait vs. creature bait. It seems like you guys don't use many craw style baits like the Krackin craw or rage craw but instead use creature baits. Wondering why that is?
Tacticalbassin hey have y'all ever use a daiwa tatula 200 hs reel I got one it's my frist high end reel I put in a Favorite absolute rod 7.0 med/heavy haven't used on the water I just casted in my yard a bit seems to cast great and is smooth.
Speaking of stealth....you can sit on top of 5+ pounders in clear water in a kayak. You can fish a stretch and immediately fish back and not worry about letting it rest.
Hey Matt, or anyone else who might have ideas. I live in a town that only has one body of water with bass, it is a small man made lake that is all rock, no brush piles no trees nothing really natural at all just rocks all along the bank and then out towards the middle some Hydrilla but that’s it. What are some tips too fish water like that? And how to find the bass? Thanks for any help!
I’m have major issues with braid to flouro knots snapping on hook sets on jigs, Texas rigs... the sweeping hook set techniques are fine but that driving hook sets break 75% of the time. What am I missing
Born2Fish0113 dude learn to tie the FG knot, it’s unreal. Incredibly thin and ridiculously strong. I’ve snagged baits multiple times and have always had my Palomar knot (connected to the bait) break and not my connection knot. I have 100% confidence in it.
Want to buy an expride to fish heavier moving baits but also drag a jig out deep or a carolina rig. I fish out of a kayak more than a boat lately. 7'2" or 7'4" are the actions the same?
I am interested in buying a kayak to fish in some less pressured areas. I have never owned a kayak and really don't know anything about them. I have looked online, but lots contradicting reviews. I would buy new or used. Would like to stay below $500 so I can make sure fishing from kayak is something I enjoy. Any advice/recommendations about best angler kayak for the price would be appreciated.
Anyone else here ever use the wind to "troll" a senko in their kayak? I will paddle and cast out while letting the wind blow me back down to my targeted spot, letting the line stay dragging across the whole range of area. I've caught some nice bass this way before
U never answer but ı Have a question. Every day is diffetent for water temp wind pressure and season. How can u fit a parttern To Most situation? There are hundsreds of combinations?
We've run them in the ocean quite a bit in huge swells 👍 Clearlake waves have a very short wave length. When they get to wipe capping it's a bad situation.
I've only ever fished freshwater lakes in my Predator PDL so far. It's champed through 20+ mph winds no problem, and I got waked by a ski boat on Wednesday that hit me with 3ft wake. It took the waves easy. Of course, just because it doesn't flip, doesn't means it's an enjoyable fishing experience to stay in it. Glad you guys are doing more Yak videos. Seems like a lot of channels are doing it, and I'm loving every bit of it. Cheers!
Does anyone else say hey Matt while watching every intro “Hey guys welcome back to Taaactical BAaasinn” I love these guys.
You know it
My girlfriend likes to come out of where and really kill that TAAAACTICAL BAAAASSIN
I've perfected my Matt Allen intro. 😅😅
Always!!
I put on a vid and usually my boys beat me to it ha ha ha. I guy i work with looks like him lol
This man is the most informative well versed bass video content creator that you can possibly find I don’t understand how he is not making huge money touring tournaments
Matt you do the best videos on RUclips... Thanks a Million Matt
Dude you got some good fish. Thanks for giving us kayakers some exposure. I have caught bigger bass on my kayak than I have a bass boat. I do believe the stealth has been the key. That and spending more time picking apart an area than I would in a boat, knowing I can motor over to another spot quick.
It's always fun coming in behind guys in bass boats that are spooking the fish with the trolling motor and catching nice fish from the kayak.
Glad to see another Old Town Family Member! Great video!
Enjoyed the kayak footage. Please do more of it. We like to see you get out with only a few rods and a few baits. Very cool.
IMHO, as awesome as this channel is, it seems to go up one click when you guys are in a kayak. I may be biased. 👍🍺🎣
Yeah my eyes were watching your cadence on the glide and swim bait. Ty for these videos! Especially the kayak ones!
Always watching your cadence Matt! LOL thanks for taking us along on a beautiful Day off the main lake in the canals. God bless!
Guys I’d just like to say thank you for helping my buy fishing gear and not waste money y’all really helped me kick start my fishing career keep it up!!
The power these guys have at selling baits. Everytime tacklewarehouse is sold out
Love kayak fishin. Makes me feel more connected to the fish/nature being that low to the water if that makes sense lol. Although hooksets and casting definitely takes some getting used to on a yak

I enjoy the teaching and gear selection videos, but I personally really like the straight up fishing videos on the kayaks.
Love the kayak fishing tip. Hope you do more of them!
Thanks for the kayak video. Can’t wait to get up there in my kayak!!
Dude your explanation of techniques and theories are amazing. I continue to learn with every video and always loom forward to them. Thanks bro
Smashing them on a Shimano Zodias and an Expride... Two GREAT rods. Says a lot about each that when limited to a few rods on they Kayak, you grabbed them. Love the kayak fishing videos!
love the kayak videos! :) as soon as i opened the video and saw it was a kayak one i was pumped... good info!

Great video! I am loving the kayak videos recently! Thank you!
The under spin was money for me yesterday. Sometimes being confined to a small area can be a good thing. I’ve had some great days were I was forced to fish a small area.
Great Job Matt! A lot of work managing all that gear, but you made it look fun😁Great Fish
Love the kayak videos. Just ordered a PDL and can't wait for it to get here!
I’m loving the POV footage. Really learning how to work the baits
More fun in a kayak!😀👍
I know nobody fishes these poles but I love my five foot six All-Star pistol grip when fishin in the kayak 🐟🐟🐟on😃
More bank and kayak videos 👍🏼. Thank you
Love the honesty about Bass boat vs Yak. I've done both, I'm in boat phase now, but may have a yak again for certain days in the future. Good stuff.
I love kayak fishing. I’ve been on bass boats and it is interesting burning banks moving across the entire lake to hit spots. But I love my yak. It forces me to dissect an area. Lol, landing fish and not knowing what to do with the rod is always a struggle in the yak.
curdit9 lol I feel I have to maintenance at least one reel a trip because I accidentally dunk it
That kayak has a forward facing rod holder that is designed to hold your rod after you land a fish.
Awesome kayak video! Like you, I don’t always feel like taking the Nitro out. Got myself a Hobie Pro Angler 14. I don’t know jack about kayak fishing, so this will be interesting.
The 'yak attack is back, Jack!
Great video! You and Tim should do a video on boat maintenance. I know you guys aren’t mechanics, but what are some things every boat owner should be able to do themselves at home to maintain their boat.
Great videos matt and tim!! Look forward to seeing the videos in the mornings with coffee! Best on the you tube by far!
Thanks for the kayak Vid
Loving the kayak videos!
Thanks Matt, I have used the sped up reel turn with chatterbaits (your tip too). It’s amazingly effective never tried it with swimbaits!
Great video, looked like a blast!
More Kayak videos on clearlake !!
Great video, Matt a good video would be a bank fishing video, way different than boat and even kayak. Tim should pack your bag and send you on a bank fishing challenge.
I really really like watching your RUclips channel👍🏼
good bass 😊
Getting ready to buy an old town. I'm super excited
You should do something about power plant lakes. I have been beatin to my knees when I go to them but my friends catch 6-7 pounders
That Predator that you are fishing out of have safe for word facing Rod holder on the right side funnel that you should get used to using. Matt you need to do a kayak magnet fishing video and get all of Tim's gear back🤣
Hi please do a indepth video on curado rods I'm from south Africa grate videos
Setting the standard time and time again on good information and how to apply it .
Thanks for you're deiligence
When your doing your plastic & paddle tail swim bait video.. it would be helpful to many to actually show how u insert the plastic on the hook!
Can you guys go out out the water, and do a versus video? One of you should fish the new curado 200k, while the other fishes the SLX.
Mat what type/ style fishing kayak do you have? It's much nicer than mine..maybe do a video on yours & different ones w/comparisons.
How’s fishing I got a shirt like yours. Awesome fit
Tactical yakin 🤙🏼
Matt living on that lake I'd imagine he's hooked every bass there at least once
Heyy I know you don't fish a lot of custom rods but please try out a custom build on a point blank blank!!! It is something I think you as a avid angular would appreciate they are amazing

You might look for a small aluminum boat? 12 foot or so? You can usually find them used pretty cheaply.
With how the underspin worked in getting the bigger bites, I wonder if incorporating a blade on the senko could have also gotten some bigger ones to commit to it??

Love kayak fishing! What sonar were you using? I think the link is the sonar of your boat
Humminbird Helix 7... bit.ly/2SoFl8a
I have been hammering them on an underspin with a 3.5 Keitech... I WISH I could cast like that with a baitcaster LOL
What does Bassin mean??
do you go to the fluke if the senkos aren't workin ?
Were the short strikers territorial males? The committed big ones prespawn females?
that owner underspin is so damn tough to beat.
What makes your reel sound like that. The “vroooom” sound. Lol. I would like to know
zeke Lopez jr digital chip
It's a SHIMANO DC
I thought so. Thank you guys. I have the slx hg next step is that dc. Thanks again.
Matt what kind of knot do you tie when tieing fluro to braid?
One More Cast they typically use a blood knot
Blood knot. 9 wraps each side
I use a double unit, works wonders
FG knot
Double uni knot
I noticed that you only bought a few rods and just a few baits, would a jerkbait be the remedy for those shorts strikes?
Speaking of stealth....you can sit on top of 5+ pounders in clear water in a kayak. You can fish a stretch and immediately fish back and not worry about letting it rest.
Hey Matt! What fish finder mount do you use for your fish finder on your kayak? I’ve been looking for a good one
I use the Helix 7... bit.ly/2SoFl8a
What was the rod and reel for the glide bait? The reel looks like a tranx 400
Hi Matt can you please tell me what difference te pressure scale does for bass fishing is it a big deal.
Thanks
Hey Matt, or anyone else who might have ideas. What kind of anchor where you using? I have a pdl 120 and am looking for a setup......
What time of year was this
I’m have major issues with braid to flouro knots snapping on hook sets on jigs, Texas rigs... the sweeping hook set techniques are fine but that driving hook sets break 75% of the time. What am I missing

Matt, what's the gear ratio on you glide bait reel?
7:1
Want to buy an expride to fish heavier moving baits but also drag a jig out deep or a carolina rig. I fish out of a kayak more than a boat lately. 7'2" or 7'4" are the actions the same?
Awesome! #BEASTMODE
Helix 7 for the kayak?
I am interested in buying a kayak to fish in some less pressured areas. I have never owned a kayak and really don't know anything about them. I have looked online, but lots contradicting reviews. What up, I've got the tranx 300 with the power handle and it seems to close the reel sometimes when I cast, any suggestions?
Is Clearlake open? Or just for residents
Neither, this was shot beforehand. But word is it opens to residents on Saturday.
Where do these guys live?
I want a fishing kayak that is under 900 dollars. I want it stable enough to stand on, do you have any recommendations.
It's funny talking to the fish,I do the same but never get a response.i think it's due to them being pissed I just ripped a hook through their jaw
U never answer but ı Have a question. Every day is diffetent for water temp wind pressure and season. How can u fit a parttern To Most situation? There are hundsreds of combinations?
That Predator PDL will handle bigger waves than you are giving it credit for, especially if you are staying seated.
Cheers!
