It DOES NOT take off. This game is absolute trash. Fucking slow paced, clunky, walking simulator. I spent too much time on it cause i thought it would pick up, but I can't force myself to finish it, and i spent too much time on it to get a refund. Anyone who enjoys this game is a simpleminded hack.
I've spent about 15 hours already and I'm not even a quarter into the story. it's such a great game. it requires cautiousness, balance and strategy which a lot of gamers who are accustomed to loot and shoot will not like. this is a very refreshing yet challenging idea for a game. plus the online feature is really cool. you can place ladders and Postbox throughout the open world and other players can use it, the same way you can use other's tools. it really feels like you're connecting to a bigger world where you help and get help from other gamers.

True Story: Back in 2016, I was working at Sony San Diego on Days Gone when one day while I was parking my motorcycle, I see a guy that "looked" like Norman Reedus walking around on the phone and gives me a thumbs up. I walked inside and told my coworkers about it and they told me that it WAS indeed Norman Reedus! So I grabbed a sharpee and ran outside with my motorcycle helmet to see if I could get a signature. He eventually sees me but probably got all weirded out by me just standing around like an idiot. A few days later I met Mr. Kojima while we were working on the first trailer for the game. The one with the whales and the baby. We tried really hard to get the contract to do all of the cinematics but we didn't get it :(
I know I'm coming a bit late but I love Days Gone! Such a great game that you can play over and over again...I'm also about halfway through death stranding, not sure if I'll play it again but I'm definitely enjoying it, especially as I'm on lockdown, it's good having a game that you can play for hrs and hrs :)
Been playing it for hours, and I am genuinely having fun. The plot is so captivating and peaks curiousity. The world is so alive and fucking stunning, and keeps you engaged. Sure, handling cargo is frustrating, but its just this sense of frustration that keeps you going. The connection system is outstanding for me, seeing other players contributions to your world is another level of immersion, jesus Ive never felt such relief from seeing a goddamn bridge or a rope or ladder. BT's are fucking TERRIFYING. I would even hold my own breath at times because it was making me so nervous! The unclenching after an encounter like that, is also another level. 😂 Kojima made something different here, its not for everyone yep you've heard it before... but this one is definitely for me. Hi Marz! Cool gameplay, as always. What i really like about the game are those little details. Recently i've noticed that if you have a full bladder and you must take a long, long pee the BB's really amused with it and starts laughing. It's so funny that you start to laugh too. So you're both laughing while Sam's draining a bladder 😄.
So I got this game and I freaking love it. I do agree it's not for everyone but it's for me. Just sitting down, taking your time, enjoying the view and completely immersing yourself into this world... That's what I love most about video games. And the story, my goodness the story. I cannot wait to learn about this world.

innerbloom Yup, it gets annoying with the amount of inventory management there it, but the actual gameplay loop is very addictive. Chapter 2 has to be the worst and it’ll make you wanna quit the game. It gent allot better after that.
Seth Nico i actually loved chapter 2, had some really cool moments and i love when you get through BT areas and the soundtrack will turn on. i almost recorded that part where you get to port knot city and asylums for the feeling starts playing but i didn't know how. i just started chapter 3

Hadn't seen or read up too much on death stranding either but knew it was one of those big blockbuster games that's a must play and I'd really enjoy seeing a full playthrough of your experience while I do the same. You're one of my favorite let's play youtubers and I've played most of the games you have and found myself coming to your videos just for your reactions and thoughts on the games. You have such a refreshing take on every game and open my mind to new perspectives and I really like your personality and the relationship you build with the games and their characters. In my little time playing the game I can tell it has a very in-depth story and innovative gameplay techniques. Anyways, long story short, I'm all for a Marz full walkthrough of the game.

It reminds me a little bit Dark Cloud 1 or 2 on ps2 if i remember correctly. If we talk about that chill and explore vibe. But overall it feels like movie Cold Mountain 🗻 + Postman 📯 mixed with MGS and on top Journey source. Love D.S.

I love how almost every critic and review out there is like "I don't think i had fun with this and i'm not sure if this game is pretentious or actually smarter than me 10/10".
The game has gotten more 10/10's than any other game this year I believe, but has also gotten several mixed reviews and several low scores. Here's what I've gathered from the reviews. The game is beautiful and is one of the best looking games ever made, the soundtrack is amazing, the story is great especially if you're into a Kojima type story, great voice acting and motion capture, etc. The overall presentation of the game is top notch. The strand aspect of the game is great. I've listened to some people that have spent hours just building roads and such. Where it seems to falter is in some of the gameplay aspects. The combat isn't that great and it's too easy, most of the the boss fights are visually impressive, but there isn't much to them. God of War is one of my favorite games ever and I think a lot of the boss fights are similar to the dragon boss fight. It is visually stunning, but there isn't too much substance or variety in how you approach it. They are more show pieces as opposed to something that takes skill. The biggest thing that will make or break this game for you is the actual gameplay loop. It's a ton of walking, it's a ton of falling, it's a ton of inventory management, etc. It's just getting from A to B. Now, in Assassin's Creed if I want to climb a mountain or a very tall structure all I have to do is hold the analog stick and X. I can climb a 300 ft structure fairly quickly. If I want get to the other side of the map in GTAV all I have to do is get in a car, a plane, a helicopter, and I can do it fairly quickly. Here I'm going to have to navigate my way through the environment. Getting from A to B isn't going to be an easy simple thing and when you're use to being able to cover great distances in a massive open world game fairly easily this is going to be frustrating for a lot of people. It's just like you want to get to the destination to do the next quest or see the next story sequence or to see the next character and so forth. This game is very slow paced and it's going to test your patience. I think this is why the strand system will work incredibly well. You will be grateful when players build a road, make a bridge to cross a river, leave a bike, leave a ladder, leave supplies, etc. I'm looking forward to it and I will see what I think when I play it. Many people are absolutely not used to this. Going by the butthurt user reviews on Metacritic right now, it's more than many younger gamers with short attention spans and a need for immediate gratification can handle. This game isn't for them. Personally, I'm a type of player who modded the shit out of Skyrim to make it harder and more tedious that way (yay, Frostfall), refuses to fast-travel even when it exists (seriously, I believe fast-travel to be an epidemic in modern games that is almomst as bad as Quicktime events) and enjoys the slower aspects of games like RDR2. For me ... this game is perfect.
The game reminded somehow about Prometheus movie when doing the exploring. baby in the bottle feels disturbing. Being used as detection device. Attack on titan comes in mind when tall thing appeared
This is already one of my favorite games of all time about 10 to 12 hours in. I get that it's not for some people but for me it's perfect. I actually enjoy the gameplay loop because it's relaxing to me. The story is Kojima weird so that's the icing on top. Some people need a lot of twitchy action in their games and that's wonderful for them. When I want to play a game like that i go back to another Borderlands 3 playthrough. There are games for everyone.

Death Stranding is definitely an usuall experience vs most other games out there. Even though I am a big fan of the MGS series I decided to go into this as neutral as possible. That being said the game grew on me quite quickly the world, story and even the traversal has me interested. Learning to see the signs of losing balance or getting an eye for the best routes to take becomes natural and adds to the enjoyment. Hope you continue this odd yet awesome gem of a game.

This is already one of my favorite games of all time about 10 to 12 hours in. I get that it's not for some people but for me it's perfect. I actually enjoy the gameplay loop because it's relaxing to me. The story is Kojima weird so that's the icing on top.
Some people need a lot of twitchy action in their games and that's wonderful for them. When I want to play a game like that i go back to another Borderlands 3 playthrough. There are games for everyone.

its pretty funny to watch you get all gooey when the crows start to plop down. so far this is intense! so wish we had a ps 4 ...this game looks gorgeous!

Death Stranding is definitely an usuall experience vs most other games out there. Even though I am a big fan of the MGS series I decided to go into this as neutral as possible.
That being said the game grew on me quite quickly the world, story and even the traversal has me interested. Learning to see the signs of losing balance or getting an eye for the best routes to take becomes natural and adds to the enjoyment.
Hope you continue this odd yet awesome gem of a game.
This gameplay should've been at least 2 h long. The first hour is just the prologue. I wouldn't mind :)

Hey Marz, the guy in the orange suit who started firing his pistol was actually able to see them. We're seeing the game from Sam's perspective, whom can only sense those "things".

@@Pariente300 But with the bb he can, Sam can sense the without any BB but still needs one to see them that is why this shot is so good because you cant see what the guy is seeing and it makes his reaction so much more terrifying!!!
