The use of the music in this video is for demonstration of the quality of the cassette player only, and is used here under "fair use."
This is a 1993/1994 Sony Walkman WM-FX45 in great condition. This model is sometimes also referred to as the WM-FX42 as well.
This one plays back great with its original belts in 2018, but sounds like it could use some fresh lithium grease in its gears.
I love my Tascam DR-05 by the way, I highly recommend it. Find one here: rover.ebay.com...

I have this very Sony Walkman, I bought it in 1993. It still works like new which goes to show that products back in the day where much better made

this literally sounds better than most vinyl rips on here with $1000's in setup costs, like what a difference recording hardware makes

That's what you get with a decent Walkman, good belt and a well recorded tape.

WM-FX45 excellent Walkman. All need new belt, tiny oil-grease, speed calibration tape (3000Hz). I plugged in my HD-650 cans direct (no amp), mega bass at MID, Dolby ON and was amazed! More body and rich sound than my Walkman Pro WM-D6C (serviced) -sounds flat, sterile, Dolby better OFF in comparison. Diamond value!

I really like this model, mine has real lubrication issues on the inside so the gears are always very loud. Came with a faulty FF mechanism which wasn't too hard to fix but I like the alarm function the most

I've recently purchased a used FX-42 but it plays with a constant hissing even when no tape's on the deck. Wondering if I must go to a professional or perhaps could fix it on my own...

I've got an FX-19, but the output is all distorted. I replaced every capacitor in it and it's still like a guitar amp.

    • @phantomkast93

      C. H., it is likely a chip or motherboard problem

@@phantomkast93 RIP my Walkman then. Might be the amp chip itself in that case - the output isn't distorted if I make it so I can barely hear it.
