It never really bothered me how critical Simon was; in any kind of entertainment business, if you can’t handle criticism and rejection, then it’s just not for you. It’s better to be brutally honest than to provide false hope. Where I do see growth and maturity in Simon though is I believe he has come along way in not judging a book by its cover.

Also I view America’s Got Talent as a very different venue than American Idol . . . American Idol’s intent is for the individual to pursue a career in the music business. While I’m sure there are many AGT’s winners who aspire for an entertainment career, there could be others who simply would be happy to have a “one and done” win.
