That's because this is not classified as a tiny home since it's definitely bigger than 400sq For me I'm going to have a customizable home built for me for less than 400sq on 4 wheels. This house is more like a 6 Wheeler.

Excellent well thought out layout. My husband and I live in a 512 sqft home we built ourselves. We run on solar, south facing windows, wood stove, collect rain water. Building as we could afford to pay with cash- has allowed us to live a debt free life. Which gives us more freedom to travel, not be slaves to the work force. ... great job!!
@UNFINISHED FOOTSTEPS it moves east to west and is directly overhear mid-summer, but its angle in relation to the ground changes and is very low and south facing in the winter. If you put all your windows on the north, for example, you will get zero direct sunlight. With proper overhangs, you can get direct sunlight during cold winter months, and almost no direct sunlight in summer months, reducing your cooling and heating needs.
@UNFINISHED FOOTSTEPS disclaimer: that is only accurate if you're in the Northern Hemisphere. Reverse it if you're in a chilly region of the southern hemisphere. Also, if you're in a region that doesn't get cold, concentrating your windows on the East and North (in Northern Hemisphere, South if in the Southern) will minimize solar heat gain

This is the best tiny house I've seen in intelligently well thought out it was economically, saving space, electricity, and not too small. It is something I would be happy with for the rest of my life. It even saves on taxes. My wife and I also live to travel, and her family is an 11 hour flight. Lovely economical size. Beautiful setting, with a great long term plan. The change I would make is flipping laundry and mechanicals into the BR space. You could pan the entire bathroom, put in your drain if leaking occurred and only have the kitchen sink to then be a water concern. I would enjoy a follow up on this particular build, how the outbuildings is incorporated and the property is developing.
This tiny house is adorable! It's so comfortable, and there's space to move around the house. There's hallway in it ! The bedroom is not at the loft! I love it.
"Just have what you need" makes perfect sense...subdivisions have different plans which almost never works for the family...tiny homes are cramped and does not fulfill a cozy feel/need...a small home with just what we use,perfect...keep things and cost at check...wow! God bless this family and their lovely thought process...wish and pray and hope that everyone will start to think like this and make our lovely Earth even better:) Thanks again for bringing this video to us, you guys are the best!...God bless:) Be happy...keep smiling! :)
This is perhaps a perfect size for one or two people whom are not so interested in towing your house behind you. If more cities, counties and zoning commissions would permit sub 400 Square Foot Homes, much could be possible, thank you for sharing this one.
The idea of more cities and counties allowing for tiny houses is great, the actual practice is where things get shifty. Allowing a well designed tiny house also opens the door to cage living; the likes of which can be seen in places like Hong Kong, where 20 to 30 people are living in 500 sq ft. That's an extreme example of course, but an arbitrary line has to be drawn somewhere. I'm not sure square footage should be the measurement we go by, to be honest. How do we regulate housing to ensure that people who want to live in tiny spaces are allowed to, while also preventing the poor from being forced into tiny spaces? I doubt there is an answer that perfectly does both of these things.
@@danieljude3155 You could still have a required minimum sq ft/person. Just allow it to be smaller. Say 150 sq feet for a permanent building. And if someone wants to live in a tiny house on wheels, that's basically the same as living in an RV. If you own the land, the law ought to allow you to do that. (I know there are many places it doesn't, but it should.)
But you can't legally live in an RV; legally, tiny houses are RVs. Granted this type of law is regulated by complaint, so if no one complains you can do as you wish. However, one nosy or unruly neighbor can leave you stranded. The problem with long term RV living is that their are no regulations on things like building codes. For example, if my house catches fire, I can flee out of my front or back door, as well as out of most of my house windows. I have seen many, many tiny houses where there is only one exit. Imagine a house fire, while someone is sleeping in a loft only accessible by a wall mounted rung ladder. Even worse, imagine if that fire was caused by a person trying to do some DIY electrician work and it spread to other buildings. If a person wants to live full-time in an RV, I think they should be allowed, but only if the RVs are regulated like normal living structures. So professionals for things like electricity and plumbing, and high standards of safety.
Have you considered an apartment? There are of course pro's and con's to any housing arrangement, but an apartment would get you the sizing that you are interested in.
@@aljowen, I'm a bit confused how my comment generated a response about consideration for an apartment. Currently I do live in an apartment by choice and am quite happy. However, I rent out the large home I own and used to live in. I only commented to the affirmation of this choice for the content creator who presented this sub 400 square foot beauty.
My first house in 1984 was 710 square ft. I loved it. You would be surprised how happy you can be in a smaller home, with more money to spend doing meaningful things. I feel like times are changing, and people are tending to build or buy smaller more affordable homes. Nice video!
While I've got your attention (sorry for taking use of your time ;) ): I regularly wonder what houses / projects such as this might cost in different countries. Being from Austria myself, I would guess that I couldn't build anything like that for under 80 k€. Do you have a rough estimate how much this gem cost?

We are considering building a small home now that we are close to retirement so I appreciated seeing another build on a solid foundation. Thank you for sharing.
I have mobility problems and have been looking at tiny homes. This one is laid out so great and with a shower instead of a tub would be the ideal place for someone like me because of the shower and the down stairs bedroom. You need to talk to him about making these plans available for people who are looking to build guest or what some call mother in law homes. Thank you so much for this video. Best one I have seen.
Mareina Chico HAHA 😆 I didn’t know what TARDIS is I had to GOOGLE it 🙈 Tar·dis ˈtärdis/Submit noun 1. a time machine. 2. a building or container that is larger inside than it appears to be from outside. The TARDIS is a fictional time machine and spacecraft that appears in the British science fiction television programme Doctor Who and its various spin-offs. The TV show Doctor Who mainly features a single TARDIS used by the central character the Doctor. However, in the series other TARDISes are sometimes seen or used. 😁
MACEDONIAbitola 😂😂😂 “Doctor Who” joke, sorry! The Doctor’s preferred mode of travel is the TARDIS, a vehicle that’s bigger on the inside. #MyNerdCardIsShowing 😁 Have a great day! 😊

I live alone and want somewhere small but without feeling cramped, this size and design I think is perfect! Just a studio and greenhouse and I would be one very happy old gal! Well done, and many happy days to you both! 😉
I love it! It’s just about perfect. I would only add on more thing - an overhang for the front of the house, about 2 to 3 meters out, for protection during storms.
Great floorplan, love the pitched roof with huge windows. Love the radiant heated floors, super insulation and triple pane windows facing south. You can always build a storage shed, root cellar and carport down the road as needed, if needed.
I guess the term "tiny house" depends where you are from. Where I live it's officialy from 300 to 600 sqft and a small house from 600 to 1000 sqft. In some countries that's huge in others it's small... Personally, I really don't care what my house is considered and the message I'm trying to say in the video is you need to build a perfect sized and comfortable house that fits your lifestyle and your needs.
This is the exact size that I've been contemplating for our next home. I love the functionality and how beautiful it is. And the layout made it feel much bigger than I think most people would expect.
Is it possible to post a floor plan or the Sketchup plan that Maxime did. Really nice interior layout and as other posters have mentioned, proper kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom without being confined. Great job!
@@joycefunkhouser2380 No, no answer yet. Even just a simple floorplan would help put thevideo in perspective. My wife & I really like what Maxime built. Tiny houses are okay but the added width of a small house on a foundation is really exciting. Hope to get answer sometime.
In Mexico there ara a looot of houses that size or smaller, they are called INFONAVIT (because of the company) but the difference and the reason they are so hated in here is because they´re incredibly poorly planned.Really thin walls and the goverment makes them for families, biig families. That´s why i love watching this videos this is good arquitecture, nice planning. I wish the goverment would plan the houses accordingly to the needs of people..
samantha Soleno unfortunately, you can’t depend or trust the government to do any of that. Only way possible would be to make materials affordable for even poorer families. This guy’s tiny house is a testament that it is possible with 1-3 people
Thanks so much for sharing this wonderfully creative and well-designed home with us. It is one of the best I have have seen in the past two years of searching for tiny home ideas. Maxime, excellent, thoughtful result!
This is just solid good sense! Everything that's needed, and no wasted space. I hope Maxime will let other people use his plans. That place was built around the bear bedspread!
one of the nicest and most realistic tiny home I have seen for long term living. I would go bigger because I have 4 kids so I need more space. This is what I would like just a little bigger and alot smaller than modern homes
Because of how the first floor walls are made, I wouldnt say easily add a second story. You definitely could knock a doorway through where the fridge is and easily add 200sqft that way for a larger kitchen/dining room and a 2nd bedroom though.
This is fantastic! Theres 16 feet of hanging closets. Full bath, full bedroom, no bending and full everything. The deck is a very big plus and the 3 layer windows are a great idea to keep the warmth in. And right outside are the woods. Far from the city but with a close by town that has all you need. All for $100 thou. Great deal. This is ideal. You could build these kind of houses and sell them easily.
It can be MUCH more expensive especially in the states since there's more regulations. There's a series of a guy building a shipping container home in California in a desert area and so far it's cost him 25k in legal fees. Then you have property tax forever and it's just a massive headache in some areas and takes away a lot from the reason people want a tiny house.
Great video thank you! I enjoy house tours this size and not on wheels, which isn't always easy to find. My dream is to build a small home, but I want to stay in one place, so no need for it to be transportable. Also you wouldn't be allowed to live in a home on wheels permanently where I live. I can relate to him talking about rules, in a lot of new sections you aren't allowed to build a small house here either. It makes no sense! This was a lovely home and just the perfect size
in most parts of our country you can't build something that small. In NC, where a friend lives, you can't build anything under 1200 SF, which is about the minimum one really needs long term.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a wonderful and inspiring presentation. I'm 51 with a wife and two teen kids but i could see us retiring in something like this. I'm a mad gardener so dream of growing most of my produce. Australia has a very temperate climate so i could get away without the heated floors, but like your plan for a wood burning heater that would be perfect. Thanks again. I'll save this as you have really inspired me.
Its like taking a 1 bedroom city apartment and plopping it in nature. Very nicely done and a great alternative to the super restrictive tiny homes on wheels.
Smart layout. Building on a foundation is wise for long term living and also for severe weather conditions. Floor heating is brilliant. I've looked at a lot of time house ideas and this one is really my favorite. I love the layout, the size and functionality are perfect for me.
God bless this family and their lovely thought process...wish and pray and hope that everyone will start to think like this and make our lovely Earth even better:)
Thanks again for bringing this video to us, you guys are the best!...God bless:)
Be happy...keep smiling! :)
I love this house, it’s perfect and has good storage . Most tiny houses don’t even have one closet
Nice video!
This is a home where I could imagine myself being happy to live in. Thank you for showing this beautiful home to me! :)
You're very welcome, thanks for watching!
While I've got your attention (sorry for taking use of your time ;) ): I regularly wonder what houses / projects such as this might cost in different countries. Being from Austria myself, I would guess that I couldn't build anything like that for under 80 k€. Do you have a rough estimate how much this gem cost?
Perfect size. Love it. Those who are having second thoughts about the tiny houses will definitely like this.
Basic and comfortable... what more does one need. Nicely done Maxime!
Light , bright, clean, cozy, I love the look and comforts of this! Great job!
Love this for so many reasons. Love the design inside and out. Love that he built it himself with friends and family, so many good memories. We are considering building a small home now that we are close to retirement so I appreciated seeing another build on a solid foundation. Thank you for sharing.
Don't go smaller than 14 by 18 living room and 14 by 18 bedroom. 6 by 10 bathroom. The big bedroom is the 'get away from you' space.
Looks SMALL from the outside but the LAYOUT it’s nicely done that makes it a lot BIGGER INSIDE 👍
Oh my God, it's a TARDIS!!!
I'll leave now. 😁
Mareina Chico WHAT?
Mareina Chico HAHA 😆 I didn’t know what TARDIS is I had to GOOGLE it 🙈
Tar·dis
ˈtärdis/Submit
noun
1.
a time machine.
2.
a building or container that is larger inside than it appears to be from outside.
#MyNerdCardIsShowing 😁
Have a great day! 😊
Mareina Chico Thank You MAREINA I think il watch the show on NETFLIX while I am at WORK 😁
Beautiful house, could see so many applications. Size is just perfect! One level living is a high appeal. Fantastic!
Perfect size home. Love it
I think I have found the perfect small home! Your design is wonderful, incorporating storage and light reflecting mirrors. I live alone and want somewhere small but without feeling cramped, this size and design I think is perfect! Just a studio and greenhouse and I would be one very happy old gal! Well done, and many happy days to you both! 😉
This is much more like it. We never need more than this for two folks.
We also have a 480 sq ft home.... it’s a two bedroom 1 bathroom... bought it for $9,000. Extremely blessed to have found such a great deal.
Love this house!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Would be perfect for me, a granny wanting a single floor home.
I love it. Perfect size, great design, and excellent use of space.
this was the best tiny house i have ever seen. can you share the owner contact info to buy the house plans from him?
Buy?
Love this design. No wasted space and managed to keep a comfortable living inside the small layout. Great job !
My kind of house. I'll definitely go for this type when i get to go build a house in the future.
I love it! It’s just about perfect. I would only add on more thing - an overhang for the front of the house, about 2 to 3 meters out, for protection during storms.
Great size and excellent use of space.
Great floorplan, love the pitched roof with huge windows. Love the radiant heated floors, super insulation and triple pane windows facing south. You can always build a storage shed, root cellar and carport down the road as needed, if needed.
Just beautiful - perfect size for two people. Thanks for the video.
I like the simplicity without dinky complicated roof lines etc and it looks quite nice.
I like to do 1 like this, where is located?
Thanks
MOOSE117 this is 480 square feet, so tiny house by your definition.
Nobody NEEDS a giant house.
@@earthangel8730 Exactly!! So refreshing to hear this from an older generation!
Your mindset is well-adjusted and in-touch. You are young at heart 😉
Well said- I agree completely !
This is the exact size that I've been contemplating for our next home. I love the functionality and how beautiful it is. And the layout made it feel much bigger than I think most people would expect.
Do you have the exact dimensions for this tiny house?
It would feel much bigger if it had tall ceilings.
Is it possible to post a floor plan or the Sketchup plan that Maxime did. Really nice interior layout and as other posters have mentioned, proper kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom without being confined. Great job!
Trying to see the other 6 comments.?? Did you get any answer on how to get the floor plans?
@@joycefunkhouser2380 No, no answer yet. Even just a simple floorplan would help put thevideo in perspective. My wife & I really like what Maxime built. Tiny houses are okay but the added width of a small house on a foundation is really exciting. Hope to get answer sometime.
I did a video explaining my vision, it's in french but you'll get it! ruclips.net/video/1Bgznl_y8dw/видео.html
I have also changed a few things in the final plan
Thank you very much for the post!! I will have to brush up on my high school French. I just really liked what you have built! Cheers!
This is an amazing house! Small, but still has a lot of comforts available
This guy’s tiny house is a testament that it is possible with 1-3 people
It’s perfect! Wish cities allowed smaller houses, especially with the housing crisis.
This is the futur. Thank you!
This is exactly the setup I would want, this is the perfect tiny house
I like how Maxime uses his Language to do interview! Props to him!
Thanks so much for sharing this wonderfully creative and well-designed home with us. It is one of the best I have have seen in the past two years of searching for tiny home ideas. Maxime, excellent, thoughtful result!
This is probably the best tiny house design I have seen.
Perfect small house. And he probably built it for half what one of those tiny houses on wheels would cost. Very wise use of both space and finances.
it cost him $100,000. Not cheap for 480 SF!
@@pauledwards5607 That $$ includes the land, septic and well.
I once lived in a 482 square foot house. It didn't feel tiny at all to me, it was cozy and I loved it!
Thanks. I really like the design and his explanation of how and why he did certain things. Informative and educational video. I learnt somethings.
Simple, elegant and functional. Who could ask for more!
You could also easily expand the home or add a second story if you had a bigger home. But it is a awesome little house!👍
Because of how the first floor walls are made, I wouldnt say easily add a second story. You definitely could knock a doorway through where the fridge is and easily add 200sqft that way for a larger kitchen/dining room and a 2nd bedroom though.
@@RandomPlaceHolderName Thank you for that clarification.
Love it! If you don't plan on moving your house around, why not find a nice piece of land that you can build a house like this one!
Exactly Right!! Take the money you save by not buying a trailer and buy land with it.
Totally in love with this house. The area, the building, the many windows, the materials used.... well done, Maxime!
This is literally the House I like best for myself of all the small houses Ive seen...I like the lightness and ease of it
this is a really good quality home, and I do like small space living.
Beautiful home. Very well organized.
I believe this is the most beautiful and perfect tiny home I’ve ever seen!!! I love this home. C’est Magnifique!
The sub titles were done very well usually you can’t keep up or see what’s going on because your busy reading it was done great 👍
Its like taking a 1 bedroom city apartment and plopping it in nature. Very nicely done and a great alternative to the super restrictive tiny homes on wheels.
brilliant use of space
Congratulations . Beautiful home and thank you.
I love this Tiny House......perfect size. the layout is great and all on one level...cheers
I love this, I wish more people would build smaller yet well constructed homes.
This was what I was searching for, this is perfect!
Very cool! Max and his girlfriend built an amazingly beautiful home! Beautiful.
I really like it a lot close to perfect for me.
Smart layout. Building on a foundation is wise for long term living and also for severe weather conditions. Floor heating is brilliant. I think having everything on one level opens up possibilities for more people to enjoy tiny living but an added loft would be a neat add-on for guests or kids. Nicely done!
