Smart Couple. They seem to be made for one another. Its so pleasant to see couples who are kind and considerate to each other. When you dont put a fortune into a house, you are free to do so many other things.
I understand why tiny houses became popular in the West (lack of real estate, high prices) but the culture behind it is weird to me. Why not at least double the space by adding another unit? It would only have cost them an additional 30k. That's nothing compared to the comfort gain. He even mentions that many couples move out of their tiny houses after a few years. Seems obvious why that is.
This is probably one of my favourite tiny houses. The clay just feels and looks fabulous and it looks spacious . Not to mention the greenhouse. Absolutely fab. Well done guys.
Wow the use of clay and the water and urine solutions for watering the ‘inside/outside room’ and the inside outside room are next level thinking for those who cannot build a classic Earth Ship! Great work. Shows you what is possible whatever your energy, time and budget? Thank you for sharing. Go well All
It’s so cool that they can literally pack up and move their entire set up somewhere else. Once there, they can then do additional modifications because it’s designed to be tweaked without major demo. That’s so much more logical. It would be cool to see their finished home project in the future. I love this show. It leaves me feeling inspired by the younger generation.
Such a lovely home. The greenhouse makes it for me! I think this home and the one you did years ago - the house was inside a green house - are 2 of my favorites. Thank you for providing us with continuously wonderful content.
A lot of smart choices. Love how they also had made it easy to change and be flexible. Even easy to add an extra structure if they wanted more space later depending on the size of the lot of course.
i love this couple and their house. we turned our back garden into a veg garden during lockdown but i wish i could have a green house attached to the house
Since I didn't see any solar panels or water catchment systems I'm gonna assume they're not off grid? After living on a boat this place must feel like a mansion. I'm always impressed when people have the confidence to undertake things by simply watching RUclips videos.
@@itsBIGTIMMYC There's honestly not much snow in Denmark these days, seeing as there's very little snow in far southern Sweden either. Think we had like 3 weeks of snow this winter, if even.
Tiny houses are 13.5 feet tall. I think people are always set on lofts, but there is an opportunity to have one level with 30 inch high crawlspace storage. And room for Eddy Munster overnight. 😂
'Friland' is a designated society/community where people can build experimental homes. It is laid out from the beginning to be on grid. Most electricity in Denmark are from wind (and most heat from district heating from clean incineration of trash).
wonderful place!!! i loved the simple, fairly open design. and i LOVED the clay wall treatments! yes! i think it's so smart to have the greenhouse attached.
Yes I don't think this house would be allowed on a regular plot of land in Denmark but maybe they got a better plot in Friland. It's an eco village where people are allowed to build differently and experiment. The challenge with tiny houses is often where to put them - same is true in Denmark
It is almost impossible to live 100% off the grid all year round in Denmark. Some do it in the summer, for example in an allotment house, but you are not allowed to live there in the winter. In Denmark, there are many regulations and environmental laws that must be complied with with regard to waste, sewage conditions and water. These conditions must be in order. There are solutions that can be installed and make it almost possible to be off grid in relation to water, electricity and sewage. But these solutions can be expensive to install. Therefore, some live off grid in Denmark illegally, others circumvent the laws by settling in another person's backyard.
This is a simple, sober earthship without all the hippy dippy bad taste. If you put a tent on the flat roof, you would have more space, it would provide more insulation and offer more protection from the spaces in the back. Great stuff, thanks for posting. Regards
Denmark is *worse* The land zone, i.e. the country side, is the easiest place to get something done with the least amount of red tape (legislation and other rules).
In my opinion this is the aim of building small, to live as sustainably as possible , to recycle , upcycle , improvise and to build a home that utilizes simple technologies to construct a home that is healthy and safe to live in.
Lovely concept. The only question that I have is the well and plumbing situation. When they move they will obviously have to disconnect the water works and reconnect to another well. This is the same for the electricity.

This will be fascinating to follow up on in 5 or 10 years, especially after they move and if they have a few kids and build an addition. I can imagine a 2-story addition arranged in a T or L at the back of the house where they have their stairs and loft. You would need 3 bedrooms (masters bedroom, girls' bedroom and boys's bedroom big enough for bunk-beds), probably a 2nd bathroom and some sort of living room / play room area.
