Technically, Petrol is the only other fuel compatible with LPG, so it makes sense to replace the Diesel engine completely with a Petrol Engine since Petrol Engines use a Spark Plug to ignite the fuel and compress it to power the engine, and LPG is the only other fuel compatible in this manner as long as you have the tank to fill the LPG with along with it's gas line, safety valves, filter and regulator.....
How did you convert diesel to run on lpg? Is it not just for petrol cars that can be converted? My yaris 1.3petrol does 250miles on 34l of lpg cost about 21-23£ per tank.
Michal Surmacz Technically, no. For you and me it would never be beneficial to run a diesel engine on lpg, however, some bigger lorries do it. They don't entirely run on lpg, they use a diesel and lpg mixture which improves emissions, helps the diesel burn more cleanly and is - apparently - cheaper. For everyday people, these systems are way too expensive to ever make any sort of profit. However, when it comes to these taxi's, I think they either swapped out the engine for a petrol one or just replaced the vehicles.
If I remember correctly, Petrol is the only fuel compatible with LPG when they run on the same engine when you run one of the fuels. When I had Jan and Mike as my School Taxi at the time, Mike's car ran on both LPG and Petrol, and he said to me that it can only be Gas/Unleaded, it can't be Gas/Diesel.
Top work b’rum council and keep the good work up..
How can you change a Diesel engine taxi to LPG? If I remember correctly, Petrol engines are the only engine type compatible for LPG conversions....
I have exactly the same question ❓
They are not converting the Diesel engine to run on LPG,but replacing the engine to 2 litre petrol engine to run on LPG
