I meannnnn (maybe this a joke and I’m just being the extra person) but pregnant at that state is really hard. Vomiting or sweating just brings down the energy and since Ellie is the only one to protect her while Mel has the whole team with her. And Mel has been for a while having more energy to move around with that much weight. And including her going into missions making her muscles more useful while Dina....her muscles are crushing her making her tired/no energy
@@mayonera904 it's a misconception that first trimester symptoms are segregated to one stage alone, plenty of pregnant women have them a lot longer or throughout it. But that wasn't the point for Mel, she seemed fine. But yes you're right, she had do many more resources and people to help her unlike Dina. But I have to ask, on a moral standpoint? What kind of mother would so readily put her baby in danger like that? I get it, it's boring probably only tending to their encampments worries but does that really warrant going on the front lines?? Idk, just as a woman (and one who has zero wants to have any children) I would never put my baby like that, especially so far in the pregnancy. They child might be a bit safer when the belly hasn't swelled yet, but emotional/physical stress can cause a miscarriage. It just seems redundant and a manipulative way to get us to dislike like Ellie even more, especially since Abby doesn't do it to Dina. Most mothers would never put their child on the line, but there is a certain minority that don't care at all and perhaps mel was one of them? Perhaps that's what they were telling us about her character?
@@empressink_ The zombies in 28 Days Later and Resident Evil were infected with a virus. Same difference.😉 They're all zombies. The Last of Us is a zombie survival game. Loved this game, I was heart broken when Joel introduce himself to Abby by saying, "Hi my name's Joel" which prompted Abby to ask, "You're Joel?" Only for Joel to reply, "Joel Momma!" And then Abby beat him to death with a golf club.
I feel like that was bad writing, this is how I would have done it, those 2 meet at the same place, Joel leaves Abby later finds out that was Joel, ellie finds out the truth what Joel did, ellie leaves out of being mad, than ellie finds out Abby was tracking Joel, than ellie walks in and Abby then that scene plays out, of course there are other ways as well.
Being high as hell and with no weapon is what you want to be when mushroom walk the earth. Not focused and armed. Why is the pregnant woman in a warzone right????
Way i took it was that she wasn't meant to be on the front line. She was supposed to be driven to the FOB but because mel is a medic, i'm guessing she was gonna be hanging back from most of the fighting, patching folks up at the forward base. That plan was messed up when the truck was attacked.

Honestly your joke about the Bloater going apeshit at the rats in the walls was probably closer to the truth than you think. Infected in general probably freak out at the smallest noise as is especially considering how dilapidated the buildings are there are probably small noises happening all the time that they freak out and go after.

People who defend the way Joel died often say that it's because of his time in Jackson. However, as seen in flashbacks and him rescuing Abby, he's more sincere but he isn't stupid. Surrounded by strangers and giving your name, especially when you know how many possible enemies you've made is not smart and I doubt he'd make that mistake unless writers needed to twist personality for plot reasons.
while this is a valid point, when you look at all the flashbacks of Ellie and Joel, you can see he's gotten comfortable and felt secure where he currently was. He saved Abby and Abyy's group saved them. It's not so farfetched that he thought he was safe. standing in the middle of the room makes sense but no, he definitely shouldn't have given his real name. Tommy was safe as he didn't partake in the fall of the fireflies and the demise of Abby's dad
@@aidenfoley5018 he was also comfortable and secure in the beginning of the first game before the initial outbreak. but the immediate SECOND danger presents itself, he tells Tommy they are not helping anybody, including the family with a kid. sooo, no. he's not an idiot, being "comfortable and secure" doesn't turn somebody into a dumbass - unless it's needed to push the stupid plot.
You missed the biggest sin of all of them. Tommy and Joel just flat out say who they are. Joel knows people would be after him. Tommy knows people would be after Joel. Why would they honestly say their real name? They're both smart so they'd most likely know that these new faces could be dangerous because how many groups are around their area that they don't know? Its just beyond stupid character destruction. The tape recorder. She found that tape but for some reason not the one that said there was no guarantee that killing Ellie would 100% work. Also saying that she wasn't the first or only immune. Abbie's dad gave Joel no choice. Death if he tried to take her without killing him. Her dad also gave Ellie no choice. He just put her out and said we're doing it. Abbie also forced her dad's hand and said "I'd want you to do it if it was me". Well Ellie isn't her so she can't make that decision herself. The Fireflies also show zero regard for Ellie's well being. Joel is giving CPR to Ellie and the fireflies just stock bash him instead of helping. There is no way that the fireflies don't know that they should be expecting them because Marline is there. Being a Marine I know if you're on watch you should know when to be expecting someone. Yet the older guy trying to give CPR to a young girl just didn't register to the guys on watch that these are the droids we're looking for. After Joel hears what will happen to Ellie he's forced out by gun point with no chance of saying goodbye. Yeah sounds like Joel caused what happened. If someone has a gun on me the only action I'm taking is violence when the opportunity strikes. Joel showed care for human life by trying to revive Ellie. Fireflies showed zero by bashing him stopping his attempt to save a life. Then proceeded to act in violence when Joel is upset and force his hand. Fireflies 10000% caused what happened not Joel.
Had they gotten their way they would've ensured their own survival while holing the rest of the human population hostage. I'm glad those terrorists died. People don't understand cause and effect. Abbys father screwed it all up. Apparently giving consent isn't cool anymore.
@@Zapdos97 Omg, finally someone said it. Even if they get a cure, why would they share it. First it would be impossible to give it to the world, also infected having their skulls split open by the fungus is a big issue. What did they think, that it would heal magically. And even if they could, why would they. The world especially the Fireflies have been already established as "everyone for themselves". Also, that cure wouldn't do anything, they'd just breathe spores, nothing else. Infected wouldn't disappear, people killing you wouldn't disappear etc. Naughty Dog is a hot mess with this game
Wanna point out that Tommy said it, not Joel... Also wanna point out that Marlene points out his hypocrisy with this. Abby’s dad knew that deep down that he couldn't kill his daughter for the sake of mankind.
If someone knows why or it was mentioned in the first game and i cant remember, please tell me; why did they have to "kill" Ellie for a vaccine? Isnt it a lot better to keep her safe and alive since she is immune? Like, what if you kill her and fail to develop a cure? You just fcked up your best chance?... Would'nt it be a lot smarter to keep her alive and work with small samples or something? Im no medic but that seems like the most logic decision.
@@atom_supuniverselovefromearth They said even testing wouldn't work because the infection is on her brain, and they wouldn't be able to open her skull to get a sample without killing her.
It's still kinda funny to me that you spend the game hunting down Abby and killing everyone that was with her, as well as countless others, have Ellie lose basically everything trying to do so. And when you finally catch up to her, Ellie doesn't kill Abby. Wasting all the lives she's taken to _NOT_ do the one thing she sacrificed so much to do.
It's a pretty dumb part of the game, you should be at least given an option to spare or kill Abby, but instead Ellie is like "Damn, I gave up a life with my wife, my friends, got stabbed by a branch and beaten by randos, lost 2 fingers, just to come here and kill you, EHHH I forgive you buh bye"
It really is the most pathetic ending, but in the end, Ellie finally ends her reign of terror by understanding that if she kills her, there will just be more revenge and more death. I understand that all those people likely want to kill Ellie already anyways, but the fact that she spares her life really could open the possibility of them teaming up in the next game or having her tell people not to kill Ellie because shes been through enough, thus creating a prospect for a 3rd game where there is a well oiled machine of people joining forces to perhaps try to get rid of all the infected once and for all and start the world again.

Everyone else can go fuck themselves as far as the story is concerned
Also, I am so dang interested to know how an abandoned aquarium would smell 20+ years into the apocalypse. Can you even imagine? I don't care how much cleaning you do, that never sounds like a good idea for a secret base.
Even if it did stink once upon a time after 20 years everything would have been well past decomposition and would no longer emit odor. The only way smell would linger is if it was nearly 100% airtight which fat chance especially with how buildings look in this game
it'd smell like mold from all the dampness. not rot. Not fish. Just mold. Everything else would have been long since gone. I just realised playing Tommy for the end part could've been cool, Ellie lives her peaceful life and Tommy is the one who finally accepts not to pursue revenge like his brother's killer, or maybe let you kill Abbie as a choice, I dunno.
Bit crazy that you would go through all that trouble for revenge and then just walk away after losing everything already, I like your idea about a choice or that Tommy drops it (alot more logical and in line with his character from the 1st game) but personally the game should have showed you the price of revenge rather than what ever it was trying to say, abby more or less loses all her friends and family to her act of revenge, Ellie similarly but dosnt get to fulfill it, surely you would be even more vengeful against abby in this scenario.
I always pondered why the fireflies never let Joel see Ellie at least once before the operation. It never made sense why they felt the need to rush the surgery before even conducting conclusive tests and as Roanoke Gaming stated, they likely could've gotten what they needed with a spinal tap. They rushed like they had no time left remaining, like the world would end within moments unless they found a cure through the operation. They rushed like their fortifications were under attack. If anything the biggest threat there was not allowing Joel to have some peace of mind. You go tell a man who has been through hell that the girl he almost died for multiple times he cannot see one last time. Let the man atleast see she is alright. As we already could tell Ellie wasn't entirely sure herself of she would've refused as her main beef with Joel was his taking that choice away from her. While it isn't assured, Joel would likely of listened to Ellie if she chose to go through with the surgery and die. If the Fireflies had just let them meet just one more time their operation would not have been destroyed and a possible cure could've been found. Also key word is possible, just because she was immune doesn't necessarily mean they could have synthesized a cure or some sort of vaccine. Again a good reason for running more conclusive tests before resorting to a hail marry surgery that would have killed their only recorded case of immunity they had at their disposal. Rmember The Girl with All the Gifts. The doctor there had spent ages studying those "children" and after testing for a while finally came to the decision of operating on a candidate she believed would work. There was no hail marry and as far as they were concerned they didn't believe a breach would occur in their base's defenses. Skipping past the fact the plot demanded for the events of the first game's ending to end like it did we can see how the lack of communication as Wow Such Gaming pointed out, not only possibly ruined mankind's chances for a some sort of cure but also caused a chain of death that was unecessary. And while I'm on that note, when it was clear Joel had grown attached to Ellie, seeing her as a second daughter, and was clearly against the plan with Ellie, the Fireflies should have executed him on the spot rather than let him go.
Literally tho, fireflies got themselves killed. All they needed to say to Joel was “Fine let’s go see her and you can ask her yourself” have Ellie tell Joel she consents instead of just rushing to kill a child.
That bloater fight in the arcade was really obvious to me. If the game gives you a bunch of free ammo and crafting material something big is coming, the rat king was less expected for me

I don't exactly "hate" this game, but I was extremely disappointed with how they treated all of our beloved characters, and expected that we actually care about Abby.. We don't. At least I didn't, every time I was forced to play as Abby, I'd groan.. if your player dreads playing a character, and they are forced to play that character for more than half the game, that is a failure of a game.
In regards to Abby's build, unless she's getting way more portions in rations or low key cannibalizing people and living in the gym for majority of the day, she's not gonna maintain a physique like that and let's not forget she's the only one in the WLF that looks this jacked. If you ever pay attention to pro athletes, body builders, models and actors/ actresses, maintaining a physique of a certain aesthetic before an event or shoot requires intense work out and strict dieting and is impossible to maintain yearly. Abby basically would've had to be a gym rat with barely any time to be a scavenger or front line soldier.
I just want to address this without malice (no hate or anything). 🙂 (Spoilers of course). It is not possible to lose 4 years worth of muscle mass with the supply she has in just a couple days or couple of weeks (considering her access to the gym and supply of food, the food isn't ridiculously rationed). I played the game. Exercise can be seen as different from daily activity but it isn't as much (obviously not factoring in genuinly getting a good pump 😁😉). When you put into perspective she has been training for not just four years but is also dealing with the seraphites (scars) and has the drive of losing her father behind her, combined with a workout routine and an entire stadium filled with not just a very good supply of food but as well as livestock, ranging from cows, to sheep, to chickens that are more than likely not just reproducing but supplying the WLF. She could very much sustain her build but definately not get bigger. In game she has: A workout routine near her bed (Detailed to an extent, but not ridiculously). In the Gym there is a leaderboard showing how much she can at least bench, plus a flashback stating how much she could bench 3 years ago in comparison to the the present day in the game. Seattle day 1: 205lb 3 years ago I believe it is 185lb With someone on the gym leader board beating her current bench by a couple pounds more. Finally. The game is only 3 days long for Abby, besides the ending. She is also modelled after a crossfitter. If you look up crossfit, her body does make sense. 💪 Just wanted to throw in some facts. And again no malice. 😃😃 take care dude!
@@triple_r_va see if it wasn't a post apocalyptic world then I'd have agreed. Her build isn't impossible to get but it is impossible to maintain consistently. The biggest defining feature on Abby is how huge her arms are 2nd is the lack of body fat, she looks to be between 10-15% and that's just me being generous. Muscles burn a lot energy whilst at rest and burn a fuck ton more while being in motion and considering that Abby is a frontline soldier she woul d need to have a high caloric intake just to sustain sufficient energy out put. Now to maintain her muscles and low body fat she'd need to have a strict diet which in the type of world that TLOU is set in you're probably not gonna be restrictive in what's being consumed. So TLDR it's not impossible to look like Abby in that type of setting just impossible to maintain consistently.
@@bioshogushin606 Consistency perhaps. I do like the discussion 😀 In the apoclypse (considering where she lives) believe me when I say she can sustain it. In the game there is enough food. (Explained further). We would have to delve into a lot of factors that dictate the maintanence of her body, that we both simply cannot do, since we more than likely won't be told. The facts we won't know, when thinking about Abbie's body type is: As well as a detailed guide to her workout in regards how many reps she is doing. I will detail the facts! She has a solid workout routine (near her bed). As well as the fact that the WLF are rationing food but food is not scarce but plenty full. The entire stadium has so many supplies that in game you can literally ask for a different brand of soap. Where resources are concerened, the WLF are stacked. If anything in an apoclypse I'm surprised gas (like the one in the courthouse) is still intact 😅 That is a real nitpick 🤣

At no point in Joel’s life as a survivor would he have fathomed revealing his identity and location of residence. Same applies to Tommy. Ellie did not and was not aware that she was going to be sacrificed in the possibility of a cure and if you read the logs of the other people who were resistant not sure if immune, it resulted in nothing.
I think it should have stayed in the area where you have a routine security route and explore a bit like God of War and milk that until ye know the incident happens but since Neil was setting up a Third game the plot felt rushed. Unfortunate but gameplay was fun tho I do have to say that.
A better game would have been one where they explore the complexity of their relationship with Ellie discovering what Joel did and leaving, I'd have had Ellie and Abby become friends at some point and then having it slowly come to a head between Joel and Abby with Ellie caught in the middle.
Don’t you just love how protagonists talk about goodness and keeping your word and how they look down on other survivors then pop wounded soldiers after saying they would let them go.
(Comment was changed, check comments to see why) Do you mean like how real life isn't planned? Life can be like that. Random events and all that do in fact happen.😊
@@triple_r_va Dude just check this year 2020, there is more logic, smart decisions, and natural behavior in a video game character than people in real life. People buying toilet paper, not putting mask when going outside to protect themself from a virus. But they get mad because some fictional characters don't do the real thing that a "normal" human would do.
Don't get me wrong, the gameplay was good. But all in all, I'll do the exact same thing I did with the Star wars sequel trilogy: Pretend it never happened.
What drove me nuts is, the whole lack of payoff was a lot like Arya Stark getting to Cersei at the end of GOT and the Hound being like: Nah, you good, And Arya is like: Yeah, fuck it, I only spent the last five years trying to get here, no biggie. That is awful writing and leaves people with proverbial blue balls. On TOP of that, if you REALLY think about it, not only do you NOT kill Abby, YOU SAVE HER by cutting her down. You literally play the whole game to save the bad guy. Just shitty overall. Was not the game we deserved. Plus, how much you wanna bet the third game will be Abby and Lev out in California? Pretty sure no one wants that..so you know Druckman will be ALL ABOUT IT. I pee in this game's general direction...
I hope they don't make a third one, they already know it's gonna fail, so their best bet is to rework the story on the second one, and after the second rework is done, release it, and if fans love it, then release the third one.
HowToNotBasic the only reason that this game did well, is from good will from the first game. If they made a third game (without changing this one) then it would probably flop, or at least not do nearly as well as this one.
Slap Chopp 2 this is absolutely true. The reason I bought this game was because of my absolute love for the first one, and because the story presented in trailers was misleading so I had a different idea of the game in my head. Instead of seeing an intriguing continuation of The Last of Us, all I ended up with was an incredibly weak story, disappointment and frustration.
12:37 but it doesn't make sense because in the first game you can sneak pass most of the fireflies and you can shoot the doctor in the leg. This still to me makes the whole plot of the 2nd game dumb. It also makes me angry how they want us to think "omg Ellie killed a pregnant woman, she's a monster" but she didn't even know wth.
You can, but most people didn't. Most people killed just about every Firefly in the hospital sequence then stabbed the doctor in the throat. And that's canonically what happened. Why is that a problem? You're not supposed to think Ellie is a monster. Her reaction to killing Mel proves that she's not a monster.
@@kamiro doesn't the doctor die regardless of where you stab/shoot him? I'm pretty sure I watched a video at one point where the player shot the doctor in the toe and the doctor still keeled over lol
In regards to Abby tracking Joel down, it's been jokingly suggested by some that she went on a spree killing every single person named Joel that she came across. Probably not likely, but an amusing notion nonetheless. 🤣

Before you watch the video fellas, remember that it’s just a video game. Don’t get all worked up because this man presented an opinion that you don’t agree with, for better or worse.
Yeah and he’s entitled to have it but some of the stuff here is just flat out incorrect. And isn’t a sin, like him just pointing out random pieces of the plot. Pointing out a characters motivations which get explained, isn’t a sin of this game.
Such a weak mindset, if you don't 69% the game 34 times and can't remember 100% of the coding better than your own name, then you are not allowed to have an opinion on any game. Please help the voices won't stop
The main problem I had with this game was that they killed Joel too early. When they kill him I’m like the conclusion of the first game became meaningless and I was not invested in anything anymore. I was confused and bewildered until the flashbacks. And why are their parts where you can die in flashbacks.
And by the time the flashbacks show that Ellie and Joel’s relationship had been broken by Ellie finding out the truth about what happened in Salt Lake the player isn’t invested in seeing them reconcile because we already know that Joel is dead. I’m not on the edge of my seat waiting to see if Ellie forgives Joel because I already know it’s not going to happen.
The main problem is the message is totally undeserving and has no weight to it. It doesn’t show that violence is bad, that only pops up at the end. You don’t see the damage you’ve been doing throughout the game, Ellie doesn’t regret the lives she took, she just decides on a whim that “violence no good, revenge bad”. Vinland saga is a perfect example of how to pull this message off

I used to absolutely shit on the game when i first played it but now i'm neutral because it has its ups and downs and really all they had to do to fix it was tone down the relationship storyline, make it so you start the game as abby and play as ellie later and make the ending a choice.
A couple things, since we're talking about realism: Gasoline, gels up and expires within 6 months unless you treat it. So the generators probably wouldn't be functioning. Also, I know you brought up the suppressors(which are referred to in the game as silencers), but they are only silencers in fiction. In real life they are still quite loud, and they aren't used to make you stealthy. What they really do is make shooting easier on YOUR ears, and they can make it harder to detect a gunshot from a distance. So they're for battlefields and personal use, rather than assassinations. The exception is low-power low-caliber rounds such as .22's which can be relatively quiet in compared to almost anything else. These were chosen for most "hits" by the Mafia for that reason, because even without a suppressor they're not terribly loud.
I think everything in the sequel was an upgrade except the story. Also I actually have those ear buds and they really are great. I've had them for like a week and a month and they're holding up

That been the problem with a lot of fiction in the last few years. They're so focused on their intended moral lesson that they butcher any chance of a decent story.
On Abby's physique is that it's still unrealistic. Muscles that size cosumes too much energy (even with enough calories)and more muscles doesn't = more strength. Look at female muy thai and mma fighters, Most do not have said physique. It takes too much energy that must be used for cardio based activities that she needs to do, it also takes too much time maintain with workouts and food consumption. Still nice vid.
All true, but not even taking food consumption and the like into account, her body is unattainable for 99% of women without roids, and I think that the person she was modeled after falls in that 99%.

What are you talking about that's built in occupation deterrent right there
Even if it did stink once upon a time after 20 years everything would have been well past decomposition and would no longer emit odor. The only way smell would linger is if it was nearly 100% airtight which fat chance especially with how buildings look in this game
it'd smell like mold from all the dampness. not rot. Not fish. Just mold. Everything else would have been long since gone. an ending with two routes would certainly please all, those who want revenge and the “revenge-bad” ending

(Spoilers of course).
In game she has:
A workout routine near her bed
(Detailed to an extent, but not ridiculously).
In the Gym there is a leaderboard showing how much she can at least bench, plus a flashback stating how much she could bench 3 years ago in comparison to the the present day in the game.
Seattle day 1: 205lb
3 years ago I believe it is 185lb
With someone on the gym leader board beating her current bench by a couple pounds more.
Finally.
The game is only 3 days long for Abby, besides the ending.
She is also modelled after a crossfitter.
If you look up crossfit, her body does make sense. 💪
Just wanted to throw in some facts.
And again no malice. 😃😃 take care dude!
Ikr? I don't see how people can blindly overloook that fact...
I do like the discussion 😀
In the apoclypse (considering where she lives) believe me when I say she can sustain it. In the game there is enough food. (Explained further).
We would have to delve into a lot of factors that dictate the maintanence of her body, that we both simply cannot do, since we more than likely won't be told.
The facts we won't know, when thinking about Abbie's body type is:
As well as a detailed guide to her workout in regards how many reps she is doing.
If anything in an apoclypse I'm surprised gas (like the one in the courthouse) is still intact 😅
That is a real nitpick 🤣
@@triple_r_va IDK man even in current society a body like that would require strict dieting and workout, if Abby had more fat on her then I'd be more inclined to say she could consistently maintain it.

I think it should have stayed in the area where you have a routine security route and explore a bit like God of War and milk that until ye know the incident happens but since Neil was setting up a Third game the plot felt rushed. Unfortunate but gameplay was fun tho I do have to say that.
@@franksinatra2024 yep I agree
it's called the last of us 1 and 2
A better game would have been one where they explore the complexity of their relationship with Ellie discovering what Joel did and leaving, I'd have had Ellie and Abby become friends at some point and then having it slowly come to a head between Joel and Abby with Ellie caught in the middle.
I got the perfect game for you, The last of us part 1
Don’t you just love how protagonists talk about goodness and keeping your word and how they look down on other survivors then pop wounded soldiers after saying they would let them go.
The entire plot was based around dumb decisions and random events.

People buying toilet paper, not putting mask when going outside to protect themself from a virus. But they get mad because some fictional characters don't do the real thing that a "normal" human would do.
Don't get me wrong, the gameplay was good. But all in all, I'll do the exact same thing I did with the Star wars sequel trilogy:
Pretend it never happened.
Hell yeah
I dont think it was bad, just dissapointing
The game was not that bad but it had its flaws here and there.
Like the last season game of thrones I too pretend it didn't happen and it's just "a what if szenario"

No
HowToNotBasic the only reason that this game did well, is from good will from the first game. If they made a third game (without changing this one) then it would probably flop, or at least not do nearly as well as this one.
At least Arya you can argue that she grew to realise revenge begets death and more revenge.
Didn’t know you could shoot the doc in the leg. I just straight up shot him, only learned that stabbing was an option third play through lol

@@solidrubber I agree. I used to absolutely shit on the game when i first played it but now i'm neutral because it has its ups and downs and really all they had to do to fix it was tone down the relationship storyline, make it so you start the game as abby and play as ellie later and make the ending a choice.
A couple things, since we're talking about realism:
Gasoline, gels up and expires within 6 months unless you treat it.
I've had them for like a week and a month and they're holding up
That's what a lot people said about The Last of Us 2, good graphics and gameplay, but the story is crap
This is the issue. TLOU was a great game on the strength of it's story and characters. TLOU2 fails on both.
