Li-ion batteries has a nominal voltage of 3.7 Volt and the maximum voltage is 4.2 Volt. About the minimum voltage consider that li-ion chemistry charge discharge reaction work in a range of 3 to 4.2 volt maximum. In this region this reaction is pretty reversible. this mean that if we put an amount of Energy inside the battery, the battery will be capable to provide this energy at the output with only a little loss (due to thermic resistance). However, when the li-ion cell voltage drop below 2.9, 2.8 Volt chemical deterioration occurs among the anode and cathode so the charge-discharge reaction is no more reversible and the battery start dying. The reason because this trick seems to work is because the chargers usually has a protection mechanism the work measuring the battery voltage and if this voltage is under 3 volt the charging chip does not give consensus to start current flow. This because forcing a current into a damaged battery can lead to produce gas leakage and sometimes to explosion. So charging a defective battery is "DANGEROUS". When a consistent voltage is applied to the battery terminal (Costant Voltage from a power supply as in this case) the battery voltage rise for a short time over 3.1 Volt and in this case the charger is somewhat fooled and think that this battery is simply at the low end of a normal charge region and start to charge. it is possibile that in some case the battery will be charged but if you measure with a professionali lithium charger the amount of energy the battery is capable to store before it reach the full 4.2Volt end voltage you will find that this will be very far from the nominal battery capacity. If you have a 3300 mAh battery it means that you can drain from the battery 3.3 Ampere for an hour ... or 330 mAh for 10 hours. Insted when you charge a defective voltage the amount of current will be sensibly lower .. ex you can drain only 100 mAh per 1 Hour or less, if you are lucky that the battery does not exploded during the charge process. BTW there is way to improove batteries that are close to their end lifecycle using a pulse charging technique, but this is available only with professional charger and not the simply one seen on video. In this case the battery if charged using pulses of short duration with high voltage ... this lead to a sort of chemical shock to anode and cathode and in a certain sense "clean-up" the electrodes restore the battery chemical charge-discharge cycle. However this only work for battery that are still quite good and not for battery in low discharge. In addiction this professional chargers usually monitor also the battery temperature and block the charge process if the temperature is rising over a safety value.

From experience, I found it is difficult to revive dead Li-ion cells. Many advice that the top be punctured to release gases inside the cell. This works for a short time only. Li-ion cell has a certain charge-discharge cycle. The chemicals and Lithium used deteriorate with each cycle. There is heat produced inside while drawing of power. It is not worthwhile putting effort and time to get dead cells into working condition. Reconditioned cells will discharge very quickly and will not provide the amperage needed for running devices. Li-ion cells can easily catch fire if you tamper with it.

Disagree. This lets you charge the battery/cell. THEN you can look at its capacity. Capacity testing in these examples is of limited value because the result depends critically on the history of the battery itself. So it's not generalizable to OTHER BATTERIES!

No kdoví...

There's a safer way than hacking away at charger cables(!). Use an Imax B6 or similar smart charger, switch it into a 3 or 4-cell NiMH/NiCd mode and set the charge current low (0.2A for example), connect and start charging your Li-Ion cell and monitor the voltage; It shouldn't take long until it rises to around 3V, at which point stop charging and switch charging modes to regular Lithium-Ion. Then you can charge it back up to ~4 volts and may get some limited use from the battery in low current applications, although the cell will have degraded from discharging too low like in the video.

While it's counterintuitive, Undercharged or discharged , (not overcharged) Li ion batteries are unstable. I hit an old cell phone dead battery with a hammer once, and it burst into flames - that's a repeatable experiment. There is a small "circuit breaker" at one end of the battery that shuts the battery down if it gets too hot, or too undercharged - when you can get thermal runaway. If you damage that board, good luck.

Take a careful look at what this guy does, so you'll learn how not to burn down your house. If the battery experienced anything below 2,8, or above 4.2, it is unsafe. Same deal when it can't be fully charged, only gets hot instead. Or leaks stuff (you can even get dizzy from some of the fumes). In any of these cases, or when they get old, just get rid of them. Seriously dangerous stuff.

You're very fortunate to live in such an amazing country. The people are very friendly, the cuisine is diverse and rich, and if I'm not mistaken, Iran is also known as the land of bread. Watched this carefully several times. The captions are small and not on screen for long enough. I have tried this "splash" technique and it did not work for me on Lithium cells. It works for Ni-Cads and to some extent Ni-Me-Hy types where the heavy current blows away (melts) the dendrites that have formed within and are shorting out the material. I didn't find lithium to be the same or redeemable with this technique. Your comments please. There is another issue: That of capacity. Restoring the voltage is only one part of what is required, Does the cell have lasting charge. Can it deliver a high current? More comments please. BjG

    There is only one Solution.
You have Bad Battery’s and you don’t now how it’s inside putt it away.
Lithium to charge if it is faulty may cause some really Bad Fireworks.
Change damaged ones and always use an BMS for the rest ones. Same for Acid Batteries.
Don’t experiment to much, if you pull to much energy out from one defect Battery then you have Special-Effects.

Si recomiendas que se mantengan los cables 20-30 segundos porque los mantienes solo 5 y funciona?

Thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment. Keeping the battery for 20 seconds is completely practical; however, if I kept it as it was, it would make the video longer and less comfortable for many viewers. Therefore, I shortened the time during editing and used subtitles to explain the process. I’m glad you’re interested, and I hope to continue receiving your support for future videos. Wishing you and your family happiness and peace. Sincerely!

When these cells are made they are "formed" which converts some of the electrolyte to the SEI. When you over discharge them the SEI dissolves and will need to be re-formed. This uses up more electrolyte, reducing capacity, and produces more gas. Depending on manufacturer, the cap may not be crimped before forming so there is no pressure although many are formed with the cap crimped and you will produce even more internal gas pressure. Remember the CID operates on gas pressure and disconnects the cell. So when you recover these cells (if they don't short from dendrites) you will have less capacity and be closer to activating the CID. You are far better off getting new cells, especially when you consider the safety aspects.

Hello, my friend from Romania. Your country is beautiful, and it’s on my list of places to visit in my lifetime. I hope to go there at least once. I've watched many videos about Romania, such as those on Bucharest, the city of Brasov, the legendary Dracula's Castle, and exploring the Danube Delta. Oh, just naming these places makes me so excited, and I wish I could go there right now! Thank you for watching the video and leaving a comment. I hope to continue receiving your support for future videos. Wishing you and your family happiness and peace.
