Ya the arcade version ran on the Sega Naomi hardware, still wondering how they ended up porting it on the psx. Can't think of any other title that ran on Naomi being ported to ps1
Agreed and add characters such as Fei Long, Guy, Haggar, Charlie, Richard Meyers, Duck King, Robert Garcia, Goro Daiman, Mr. Karate, Jill Valentine, Bob Wilson, Violent Ken, Alex, Sean, El Fuerte, Shoma, Tiffany, Retsu, Sawada, Samanosuke, Jubel, Gen-an, Poisen, Carlos, Gunloc, etc.
Even though there are missing animation frames, slightly lower res graphics, loadtimes, lower voice quality, and all that shit in this port... It still plays JUST like the arcade and dc version. No slowdown, The characters still look great without all the animation, and it's still fast, frantic and badass. And that's all that really matters. You don't need a bunch of character animation frames to master a damn character. In fact.. I'd actually say the ps1 version of the game is VERY tournament worthy.
@@capcom23 the reason why capcom bringed the PRO version to the PS1, was that the SEGA Dreamcast, was to obscure that almost everyone never heard of this console in the past, but yeah, in order to bring it to a console that was overwhelming popular such as the PS1, capcom had to cut a lot from the game to allow the PS1 handle it as expected, still the PS1 version is great, despite the system can't handle the the performance like the Dreamcast, and the NAOMI arcade
This is actually not bad, a pretty decent port I must say. The animation is good, the sound is good and the loading times are acceptable (for a 2D Capcom game on Playstation). Can't understand all the whining, but then again I can't understand the average RUclips comments at all, so let's just leave it here...
OMG my childhood, I played this on a jailbroken PS1 with a pirated disc in like 2008, at that time as a 7 year old moroccan kid the english language to me looked like ancient Greek but i didn't care I loved this game.
Someone over there at Longplays is psychic cause I was just thinking about his game(I know punish me,but I just got the rom). But I remeber playing this in the arcades,this and SNk vs Capcom chaos. Wasted so many quarters on this game and made some great friends at the arcade with this game, hell there was even a pro-gamer girl that whould whop on guys on this game. All in all REALy great fighting game only shadowed by part 2 thx again longplays and SchIauchi and I would love 2 play ya :)

No, this version isn't the best version considering the arcade version IS built from Dreamcast hardware (Naomi), and this has load times, but it is still solid fun. It also goes for far more money than it did 2-3 years ago, which is a shame.
And after picking up the Japanese version of this game, I find out it doesn't like boot discs on a PS2, likely a PS1 as well (Gameshark, Breaker Pro, etc.). It boots you to an anti-piracy screen (complete with the no sign, and a message I can't read), so I'll just have to run it in ePSXe, with a PS2 pad to play it.
At least the performance was pretty good for the psx. Sure the lack od qualities were bad, but the loading times only took a few seconds. I actually like that it loads because you don't want to rush into a fight and get your balls wrecked. You want to take your time when playing fighting games. And out of all the low quality of sounds, the music was actually very good in quality.

It's just the usual for PS1 2D fighting games: muffled audio samples, missing animation frames and perhaps some particle effects missing too. Oh yeah, and some changes in interface and HUD. Other than that, it's the same as the Dreamcast version.

they released cvs2 in 2001 on ps2 so releasing the older game a year later probably wasnt worth it cost wise considering they didnt have psn or xboxlive

The first, the intro was awesome and unlock Iori, Rugal and Akuma was great, i had the PSX version and it was awesome.
