- A video from the archives. A cab ride from Stafford to Ditton reception sidings. This journey is at the request of a Paypal subscriber. We journey along the West Coast Mainline and traverse the Crewe Independent Freight lines that avoid Crewe Station. before heading back onto the West Coast Main Line at Crewe Coal yard and then branch on to the Liverpool Line at Weaver Junction. We pass over the very impressive Viaduct at Runcorn before dropping into the sidings at Ditton.

Smashing ..,.after coal yard coming out off the muckhole was a bridge called mucky bridge I used to access it off broad Street when I used to stay at my nans who lived in badger ave.brought back many many memories last stood on there 1967 .
I saw the Millmeece old steam water pumping works for Newcastle thank you for the video.
Looking forward to watching this one, especially as it avoids Crewe station......
Apart from a trip with 40145 a few years ago, the last time I passed this way was June, 1985 - 25051/31245, on what turned out to be my longest ever shift on the job. The memories come flooding back, so many thanks for putting this one up on what must be the finest cabride site on RUclips. Keep 'em coming, please...!!!
Cheers. And thank you.
Oh wow, Martin - many many thanks for this one. Take care, and looking forward to seeing many more treats that you have in store for us - so much appreciated.
More to come!
Excellent, really enjoyed this video, thanks for uploading
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for this. No time now as it’s time to work, but looking forward to settling down for the ride. Have often gone under the line when on the canal or moored up to watch the passing traffic. Appreciate the sponsorship and the original work. Cheers!
Have fun!
Another great journey,Gee those virgin trains really rocket along.
They’re Avanti West Coast now.
Thanks for the video, I followed it (loosely) with a track map, the lines around crewe make more sense now.
Glad it helped!
That was a great one and I particularly enjoyed seeing the Crewe independent lines. Time to renew my railcard, I think.
Go for it!
Brilliant video thanks. Really enjoyed the stretch along the Crewe Independents although didn't expect you to get the down fast at Coal Yard. The new Alstom depot at Ditton was clearly under construction at the time.
Thanks 👍
Always interesting to join your train rides - being it passenger or freight lines - because of the background information you provide.
Thanks
Nice one. Exactly the same today only Ditton Box is now closed. I work with the Shunter who is passing the Driver his Two way radio for the propelling move into the sidings at the end.
Nice one
lovely would be even better with a 56 sound added
At long last a run through the muck hole at Crewe as a child of the 60's spent many hour's at Ditton
Plus ex Crewe works Electic loco into Ditton and later the APT power unit with the prototype HST cars
Brilliant, yet again thank you very much. If we are playing Railway Detectives, and Iv'e never proved a case yet, my guess would be camera was in an American 2 stroke powered engine with 1000 tonnes behind it?
Nearly. Just under 2000T.
@@RailMart You are a STAR!
Can we have one of the line down to Rugby? Only ask as my house backs onto the line near Nuneaton and I wanna see it!
We def would never be able to do this here in USA. Amtrak would not allow it
could you not fit an external microphone and mute the camera mic?
55:37. What are the lights flashing to warn about?
It indicates at the next junction we will be diverging.
@@RailMart Thank you.
Why Is there no sound with these video's.
Hi. Please see in the channel description as it says on the intro page.
13:40 Good old Virgin train.
