Hi thank you . If your looking for something retro / old school styling and are handy with a spanner for maintenance yeah I would recommend it for a 1st bike. It done me well for a 1 st big bike and I used it daily for a few years .
Looking to get this, I wanna know since you had it for quite a while, is it comfortable at the highway speeds with a passenger, or does it lack power in that regard?
It will do motorway speeds and long distances with a pillion but it's not the best bike for the job as it is a little underpowered . It is more comfortable than my zx6r but is a small bike so can be a little cramp in the legs after a couple of hours riding . Like I said in the video this bike was my daily and I've used it to go all over the UK by myself and with my partner on the back so it's one of those things of if it's your only bike it will do the job but there are a lot of bikes out there what would be better for the task .
Also another question. How difficult is throttle control ? When I am inexperienced and new driver, is it possible that when I hit the throttle to hard, that I will flip my bike ?
You have no need to worry about flipping a zephyr . It's too heavy and under powerd to be able to do that unless your holding it at full throttle and dump the clutch in 1st .
Yeah I got them from webikejapan . They are the madmax covers for a zr400 ( few parts from the zr400 fit the zr550 ) . Cost less than a broken 2nd hand set of eBay.
@f15hlermoto You said you repainted the bike that colour of green, my bike is the same exact colour but I don't know the paint code. Do you happen to know the paint code for that shade of green so I can get some touch up paint made for my tank ?
Hi the green I used on my bike is not the standard zephyr green ( my green has more blue in it ) . You would be best taking a body panel to a paint makers and asking them to colour match it for you as over 20 - 30 years the original paint would of faded.
@f15hlermoto I got those airbox covers btw. Thankyou for the information on them they'll look mint. My ones were broken so it's a nice shiny upgrade 👌🏼
500 pounds? where to look for motorcycles in England? I'm from Poland but I go to England several times a year to visit my son and if I could buy a motorcycle for 500 pounds, I could park there and I would have something to ride while in the UK
Facebook marketplace, bike groups online and by word of mouth . They don't come up often that cheap ( especially recently) but occasionally a bargain pops up . Just got to be quick to get it when they do .
What a great example of this Zephyr! I just bought a 1990 model yesterday for $550 USD. In pretty good shape but needs some attention and polishing! : ) Can you give me the email of the guy that provided the decals for you? And, any other store other than Webike Japan that provided parts that you sourced? I have a handful of Zeds and I get most of my parts from Webike and they arrive to me super fast. Regards- Mark
