colleiston dayum 15 minute drive from ma gaff in newburgh mad to think people from up n down the country do come and visit our lovely wildlife and scenery up that area,if you ever back up this area and want another place to visit, newburgh forvie wildlife trail is a treat to walk early mornings, wrap up warm and off ya go, thank you for visiting mate
A really good way to see Troup Head used to be (and I suspect it can still be done) is with a boat tour from Banff. The tours go along the coast, past Crovie (so you get to see that from the sea) as well as the abandoned Tarlair swimming pool from the 1930s (which you see before Crovie) and on to Troup Head. Seeing the birds from the sea, and getting in nice and close is quite special and, at the right time of year, you may well see seals, dolphins and, if you're really lucky, a whale.
Fun fact: The author Lorna Moon's ashes were spread on Mormond Hill. Moon was a writer in early Hollywood and worked with several of the big names at the time. However, she was originally from Strichen, very near to Mormond Hill. So, when she died in Albuquerque her ashes were repatriated and spread on Mormond Hill.
