Aberdeen is really an amazing place to visit. To have a city built with granite is such a marvel to witness. Marischal College is spectacular to see. I really wanted to visit the Tolbooth Museum but it was being renovated but Provost Skene's House is fascinating as you demonstrated. Old Aberdeen is wonderful and has real magic in the air! xx
You missed out one of Aberdeen's gems, when you were at the beach. The small fishing village of Footdee or Fittie was along the beach at the harbour mouth.
I went to Uni in Aberdeen and ended up spending five ears there - I loved my time there! Plenty of places to check out - Footdee needed to be on the list, it's a former fishing village along the beach and it's like a fairytale with all the tiny cottages. Slains Castle and the Tippling House both good places to check out for the decor and drinks selection respectively.
English Heritage wouldn’t usually have any castles in Scotland…. It would be NTS or Historic Environment Scotland. I don’t know what the position is with National Trust and NTS but I’ve got Historic Scotland which gets you into English Heritage and Cadw after one year of membership. A similar deal applies for English Heritage members visiting Scotland.
Sorry complete slip of the tongue on my part, of course it wouldn't be English heritage! Yes, as an English heritage member I can get into historic Scotland or cadw properties for free too. Dunnottar castle is privately owned though so couldn't use that!
@@ClairesFootsteps It is annoying having two different bodies running these things. English Heritage gets you into Edinburgh and Stirling castles but not Brodick or Culzean as they are NTS.
@@ClairesFootstepsDunnotter Castle is owned by the Dunecht Estate. One of the largest private estates in Scotland. That is in the shire, west of Aberdeen city
i used to live there for uni for 8 years .. I'm from Portsmouth.. i can pronounce all the sites !! lol the beach is over 25 miles long !!!!!!!!!!!! its was oil and gas they found ... loads of things to do
The sandy beach starts at Fitty on the North side of the river Dee and continues all along the coast as far as Forvie Kirk about a mile N.E. of Newburgh and total length is about 10 miles although it feels like 25 miles when you're walking it. 😂
I was wondering if you’d get Cadonas in there! That place is jam packed in summer! I think you’ve seen more of the city than I have. Though you didn’t visit Duthie Park and the Winter Gardens to see the talking cactus.
Seconded for the Duthie Park and winter gardens. Hazlehead park is worth a view too. It has a nice rose garden, a petting zoo and the Piper Alpha memorial statue.
Haha, pronunciation has never been my strong suit - I've lived in so many different places and even went to school somewhere with a different accent than where I lived at the time 😂 so I do struggle to remember them all! Don't worry, we say some strange things down in the West Country too!
The city is Gray, with an helter- skelter layout, and Gray with no organised idea of what a city looks like. It is rated poor due to the ugliness and lack of anything interesting, other than the very old and small part of the city, which I have never been in during 4 years of working in Aberdeen. don't waste you time with Aberdeen unless you need to have first class hospitalised medical care, which you cannot get anywhere to the west of Aberdeen. UGLY, and cold.!!

Marischal College is now occupied by the City Council.
Aberdeen University is now contained in Old Aberdeen, which is beautiful and historic.
Yeah I really enjoyed it, was surprised how much there was to do! Hope to see the Tolbooth Museum one day too :)

Ooh thanks for the heads up! Next time!

Thanks for the comment! Looks like I'll have to go back at some point to check out these spots as well :)

I can remember when entry to Dunotter Castle was free ! Very exciting for myself and my Brother.
Nice to see something positive about my city. It is a shame the majority of my fellow Aberdonians can only moan about it.

haha it must take a while to get all the pronunciation! We have the same here down in the West Country. Wow didn't know that the beach was that long!

This was a wonderful video! Just in time for our trip to Aberdeen, will try and see as many places as possible.
Enjoy!
You were definitely busy during your visit.Glad you liked it here in Aberdeen
Seeing Highlands area is a must too :)
Absolutely! I was only in Scotland to see Aberdeen and Shetland this time but I'll be back at some point :)
@@ClairesFootsteps no worries, was only suggesting as a viewer :)
Will you be around the next month when I come visit?
As someone who lives here it’s good but not the best
Dunnottar castle is well worth visiting.
Nice! I'll have to go in next time :)
You should go Nairn and Inverness if you can 😊
yes I will at some point!
Happy travels
thankyou!
Aberdeen has 2 Universities. Aberdeen Uni and Robert Gordon Uni.
Wouldn’t worry about the pronunciation mistakes, you got loads wrong but that’s our fault cause we spik affa funny in the toon!😂😂😂

A video idea from me as a viewer; London to Inverness by coach 😮
Would require a early start from you to make this 😅
You do Love a Long video.
I do haha! That's a great idea, I'll add it to the list :)
@@ClairesFootsteps thank you 😊
Free Scotland from the shackles of Westminster. We are oppressed.
No..
Because it's cold, gloomy, dark in the Winter and has terrible weather all year round!
haha it was nice weather when I was there!
Visiting Iceland really made me appreciate Scotland.
Aberdeen is grey - just so depressing and the climate is horrible.
All the other cities in Scotland are so much nicer
Top of the list.....leave.
noo there were loads of things to do!

Been living Aberdeen since 2020. Its a dump! Going down hill fast.
What rubbish she speaks oil money has been leaving since 2014
