Something you can’t teach in hunting is poise . The ability to focus on what you are doing without allowing the emotions get in the way . Great shot man I appreciate you explaining your thought process and why you did what you did ! Thank you man Great hunt and Shot once again Thank You!!!
No doubt, only comes with experience. It was almost a eerie calm moment where everything was happening in slow motion prior to the shot. He was so close that when I aimed through the peep all I saw was brown fur. Had to open both eyes and confirm what I was looking at and where I was aiming. 😅
Terrific hunt! When the fellow talked about Kodiak being unforgiving, he is not being dramatic. It can be, and it is often a very tough place. Congrats to these guys for the adventure and sharing it with us.
At no point in my existence have I thought "Man, I sure wish a massive killer Kodiak would eek its way toward me in murder mode." Minimally, I'm sporting a grenade launcher.
I'm subscribed to your channel so I don't know how I missed this video but that was intense! Great job keeping your composure when a brown bear is stalking you and closing the distance fast!
It is fair to say that you have bigger balls than most!! Keeping yourself calm enough to pull that shot off is the sign of an awesome bowhunter!! Amazing footage!! Great work!!
Bro was about six human sizes away from a Big Bear! Bears like that can rush you down within 0.5 seconds from that distance! Incredible Arrow and Bow shot!! my forfathers would make you one of their tribe leaders my friend!!
he has nothing to be nervous about he has nice coverage with a gun of a very good caliber and a curious animal that even does not try to revenge to its killer. I understand why it's necessary to reduce bear population but it's odd to see the guy to be so excited by this killing.
@@andreydolganin2974 your wrong . Even with the rifles , a bear can do a LOT of damage if shots miss the brain or spine at such close range it would be on you in a split second. And things would get seriously messy. Once it's on a man, it's risky and hard to get a killing shot into the bear without risk to the man getting chewed on. One bite to the neck or skull and your done. But he held it together very well!
Awesome Job Fellas, that was a once in a lifetime shot, right through the chest, if you shoot a bear with a gun sometimes they can still charge, but almost every Animal. Bears too, Once they feel the Power of The Arrow, they want no part of it and quickly run away.
I had never seen this part of the islands with that browned-out foliage before. Has an eerie beauty to it. Also, what an incredible shot - that bear was in sprint/burst distance and could have closed in a second.
First let me say that was an awesome bear my brother. Being able to keep it together when the creature of that size is 12 yards from you is a testament to your intestinal fortitude and determination and harvesting the ultimate predator on Kodiak Island. I have to admit I had flashbacks of the day when I was red salmon fishing on a creek that fed into Volcano Bay that is west of Dutch Harbor Alaska back in the mid 80s when I was working for Trident seafoods commercial fishing processing salmon. Our floating processor was anchored in volcano Bay and we had gone ashore to stretch our legs and have a little fun fishing. I had just caught a nice red salmon and was turning around to put it on a stringer and I looked into the alders about 30 ft from me was a 700 to 800 lb sow watching me. I guess it was just an instant reflex because I really didn't know what to do so I threw the salmon at her and started screaming at the top of my lungs and thank God she turned and ran. Needless to say myself and my homeboys got our gear got back to the boat and went back to the processing barge. That was as close as I've ever been and yes that's close as I ever want to be because I didn't have a gun that day or anything to back me up that is if you don't count that loaded salmon that I threw at her. LOL
That was awesome! Brought back some scary memories. I lived on Kodiak back in 1984-1986. Had some close calls with bears in the antenna field at the Coast Guard transmitter site. Good on ya for putting that boar down quickly. 🍻
No need to comment either. If it wasn’t for hunting seasons and regulations, bears wouldn’t be protected. You can say what you want but your feelings don’t matter
Awesome vid for an awesome hunt. Unsolicited advice: Can we next time show some more footages of the bear in distance during glassing and the sneak? Hope it’s not too much to ask. The moment is intense as it is so totally understandable if it’s beyond what you guys are comfortable with to stay safe. It would just be super cool to see the animal and their behaviour and really appreciate them!! Keep it up guys👍🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the feedback! This was our first bear hunt so it was also a learning experience behind the camera as well. We will definitely keep in mind down the road!
Trailing my last black bear i went around a stump he crawled in. He looked at me from four feet then i ended it. A brownie at 12 yrds u probably felt the same way i did!
Kodiak bears are a unique subspecies of the brown or grizzly bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi). They live exclusively on the islands in the Kodiak Archipelago and have been isolated from other bears for about 12,000 years.
"Kodiak bears are a unique subspecies of the brown or grizzly bear" - WRONG, not 'of the grizzly bear', only 'of the brown bear' - grizzlies _themselves_ are a brown bear subspecies; U. a. horribilis - _both_ are brown bear subspecies

Especially the west coast on the upper end where all the WWII barracks are rusting away...!
you guys have a huge set of balls for this honestly... grizz at 12 yards with a bow?! ffs mindblowing
They did have rifles as well.
@@Micscience Ya stupid guide shot it running away.
Kodiak bears aren’t grizzlies. They are relatively non-aggressive.
Quite brave when you have a rifle behind you
The bear is in front of execution by firing squad.
What an AMAZING shot… Many hunters dream of shots like that their entire lives.
Nerves of steel!! I can hardly believe he got that close to you without you losing it! Congratulations
At no point in my existence have I thought "Man, I sure wish a massive killer Kodiak would eek its way toward me in murder mode." Minimally, I'm sporting a grenade launcher.
That went from ask, to tell, to make real quick haha “GET DOWN”! Great content
So amazing. What an incredible hunt. Love watching you guys. Your show is one of the best.
That had to be A MASSIVE adrenaline RUSH! WOW
Beautiful creature. The size of those paws are unreal
Was a beautiful creature
And now it’s dead
What an awesome hunt. Congrats. When the guide was saying shoot. shoot. shoot. i started tripping just watching lol

wow amazing shot there sir well done. thanks for the upload
Dude! That’s crazy! Awesome hunt!! What broadheads are you using for Grizzly?
Congratulations on your hunt! Great looking Bear and a big beauty.👍👍
So much respect seeing you use a bow instead of a rifle
Amazing shot, fell him quick "An animal, is an animal. Even a maneater does not deserve to suffer"
Got my heart pumpin and i wasnt even there, good job guys!
Was not the ideal shot, but it was the only shot. Glad it worked out!
Great shot. One shot, one kill. Cool under pressure.
this is my dream hunt great vid man!
That was incredible footage!! You talk about a please don’t mess this shot up moment. Amazing hunt
Nice I always have my 45/70 and 10mm when bow hunting in grizzly country
That was a great thing to watch. I was hollering Shoot shoot
Intense, pucker factor there! When you first shot it looked high and right but apparently not....great job and big congrats on an archery bear.
Heart shot!
Now that is real hunting.
Testicular fortitude at its finest! Great shot placement. Direct hit in the boiler room and then some👍
What an incredible experience for you guys. Congratulations!
What gear did you use? I see it's a bowtech reign. But what poundage? What arrow/broadhead combo? What was your arrow weight?
Was about 525 total arrow weight. 100g insert and 125g broadhead. 74lb
Great video, great footage…and a couple huge sets of cahoonas 😂 awesome!
So cool! Great shot & great camera work!

Congratulations that was a great shot and beautiful harvest!
Always impressed with the lethality of a properly placed razor sharp broadhead. Simply amazing and fast!

when the bear started to run my heart dropped 🙃🙃 you guys have balls of steel
Just what can you say but WOW. Great hunt Brother
What caliber rifles did they have as backup? What kind of load did they use, powder and bullet?
You guys are by far the ballsiest group I've seen on RUclips! Went on trouble Island for the biggest brown bears🙌
Nerves of steel! Great dedication, determination, and completion of a hunt of a lifetime! Well done sir!

And by the way to keep health of the population you need to kill the weakest bears and not aplha males.

Hi. Does a non resident have to go through the draw process as well?
The patience, tracking, and, ability to make even a shot this close,is amazing. Congratulations!
Great video!!! I thought the shot was high right but I was definitely wrong!!! Please make more videos like this!

That was awesome
What a shot dude!! WOW... I was shitting myself sitting here. Can't imagine the feeling.
What type and weight of broadhead?
125g Hellrazor
Damn, nerves of steel! We head to Chichagof for brown bear (with a gun) I think 50 yards will be close enough 😂
Great footage
How did the bear died after one shoot? Was the arrow poisoned or you shot an important organ.
This is insane!! That bear is giant wow congrats man 👏
What a gorgeous bear!!! Truly amazing. Good job on the hunt.
Looked like arrow went through clavicle area? Where’s the aim point on a straight on shot like that on a bear? Awesome hunt!
Went straight through the heart, hit the shoulder blade, deflected and exited the hind quarter, full pass-through. Pretty crazy!
@@HeartlandBowhunter that’s nuts!
@@HeartlandBowhunter wow that's amazing!

Man you guys have the best hobby in the world. Greetings from the Philippines.
What do you do with the bear afterwards ? Do you eat it ?
That's a powerful bow that arrow went through the entire bear wow great job guys!
I’m wondering what broadhead was used
Nice shot bro what kind of bow is this I really need a good bow
My you know what hole would of been puckering.
Intense footage!
What was his backup using? Amazing adventure!

I bet that was a pucker factor of 10!
Awsome hunt!!
This is insane, didn’t even think it was possible.
What the fuck is the point of hunting a bear? Are you gonna eat it or do something useful with it? I don't think so
What did u do with the animal after?

Did that arrow go right through him at 12 yards?
