Good morning, a warm and friendly greeting from Cuba. First of all, THANK YOU, just thank you for everything. You have no idea how much your videos help me and how inspiring they are. I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP. I’m a young Cuban musician, 20 years old, 1.70 m tall, weighing 75.3 kg, with little muscle and some extra weight. I've been completely sedentary, but recently decided to change that and started exercising abruptly. I trained for 8 months, 2 hours a day, 5 days a week, learning from your channel and others. Unfortunately, I had to stop after discovering I have several biomechanical issues. I was diagnosed with ITB SYNDROME, not only in both knees but also in my elbows. Although I'm not sure what it’s called in the elbows, it’s a similar issue: when I squat or try to do curls for biceps or triceps, I feel the tendon (or something like that) crossing the joints uncomfortably at 90 or 45 degrees. Additionally, I developed a synovial plica due to a gym mistake, where I used more weight than I should have, which caused an injury. I've also dealt with lateral epicondylitis for years, and I feel some tendon discomfort in my hands and wrists, which gets painful when I do lateral raises for shoulders. This isn’t a huge or alarming problem, but it does make things difficult for me. I’d like to hear your opinion and receive your advice. What would you suggest, considering that I can’t do exercises with wide ranges of motion or those that pass through 90 or 45 degrees? The only option I see are isometric exercises, as my limitations seem biomechanical. I know these issues could be solved with surgery, but surgeons don’t recommend it because of my career; playing the flute or saxophone requires arm strength and flexibility, and the surgery could be risky in that sense. But I LOVE exercising. Since I had to stop, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it; it’s become a passion and obsession for me. Wishing you all the best. A warm and big hug. THANK YOU. A big thank you to everyone who has made it this far
Sincerely, thank you. I’m going to be honest: I’ve shared this message on the channels I trust and admire the most, and I have to say that I admire you. Thank you, my friend; you’ve inspired me a lot. If I knew English, I’d love to chat with you because I really enjoy your way of being-you feel reflective and self-aware. Best wishes to you and everyone. I’d love to hear any recommendations you might have. Have a great day.
Let me counter that: "There is nothing worse than doing the wrong thing well" - Peter Drucker Also, "The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result" - Albert Einstein If you have been doing something for years with no improvement, this sort of mindset you propose is only self-destructive..
@Stuck313 I'm going to counter that with reality in that you can only perfect the skill of walking so much and reach peak quickly, but the point is loving the journey! The saying here is the person that loves the journey will always do more than the person that loves the destination. What is self-destructive is the fact that you missed the entire point and thought you should counteract something that applies to all areas of life. If you don't love the journey, you will quit doing that and that itself is self-destructive. I'm going to give you an F+, because you definitely tried, but you failed
@@Stuck313 Depends on whether you want to improve or not. If you like to walk, whether you stop when you reach your destination or not you are doing well.
I am a beginner in both guitar and fitness, so this was very familiar and helpful heheheh. You know what? Somethimes the practice drives me to a point where i notice very little things, and there i find great joy, because that movement i have been performing repeatedly becomes new again and i can see in detail what i could do to improve it. Other thing is, (in my experience) whenever vanity enters in the equation all practice becomes dull and the fruit is no longer something at hand. I know we all want to improve and have an ideal, but there is (at least in me) a darkening that takes place whenever i want to be other person. I sincerely think that great ideas do occur when we do our thing in a playful manner, as we did when we were children, blockages are removed, new ways are open, and the best songs come at life through us. God bless you and your family, hampton.
This is why I always just push to failure because when I don’t I end up talking myself into doing the same reps and sets rather than doing more than I used to be doing

Arnold Schwarzenegger has a documentary out in which he says that he sometimes had to 'shock' his muscles. Instead of doing the usual reps, he would take heavier weights and just make as many reps as possible. This would 'wake up' the muscles, and enable him to start getting gains again.
This is so true Hampton. I used to go to gym and I hated it. I enrolled in a martial arts class, I literally was horrible for the first month with only cramps and pain. Mildly off topic, but the way you described being on/beyond the edge of what you're comfortable/capable reminds me of how I'm learning to do art in recent years.
Good Lights, buddy. Thanks for all the help! It took me a while to realize i needed to give up lifting heavy and some chest exercises, because they're just not working for me. I get better with high reps and low weight over time. The weights do increase eventually but I'm not going over a certain point, because I have bad wrists in general. Had surgery on one and the other one gives me warning signs to back off, so I'm listening. reluctantly. lol.
Good video, really hits on what I've been feeling. Still feeling quite unsure about whether what I'm doing is working, and whether or not that's just me being impatient or not quite doing the right things. I started training properly in, I'd say, 2023. And I did make a lot of progress! I was floored by covid, fully bedridden and dragging myself to the toilet and kitchen for basic bodily needs, otherwise stuck horizontally, doing exercises that can be done from that place. Now I walk, I run (briefly), I bike (with e-bike mid-setting support), I climb a tree, I dance, and it feels so good! But I still, I guess, want more. I can still only walk about 1 kilometer before it hurts and if I go beyond that it *really* hurts. I've shown a physical therapist and all that, I do the exercises, and I think I have at least some of that intuition of really listening to the body and trying to "hit" the muscles that need it. I've tried to very, very gradually increase my walking distance but I hit a wall of pain. I've tried biking with lower support settings but I hit that same wall. And if I increase my sets, reps, weight, even very very slightly, I very often hit a wall. I make progress here and there, but very slowly, and indeed, not always where I most want/need it. If I change my exercises after months of doing the same thing, sometimes I think it feels better/easier but I'm not sure. And it makes me wonder, is this the best I can do? Is this what long covid, which is still such a mystery, has done to me, which I need to grieve and accept? Or can I still do better somehow? I've worked on my diet and sleep as much as my fitness routine, I meditate 25 minutes 3 times a day, trying to keep that fresh with intent also. Maybe, simply accepting that I currently don't fully know, and staying at it with more patience is the thing. I don't know, if anyone has thoughts that'd be great. Hope everyone is doing well or gets to do better
Amazing video! Getting outside of your comfort zone is really difficulty, but totally worth it. If you never do anything uncomfortable, you will never grow! 💪 Life is short, live it!
I’m trying for consistency with walking. I do miss the odd day, about once a week but improving on this where I short walk on days where I’m just buggered or really struggling to sustain the effort.
Difficult topic, but you've made it a bit more understandable; thanks. Regarding the lights; I noticed the light was fading outdoors during your takes (loved the subtle magenta side-lighting). I think the floodlights are a bit harsh, but they do focus all attention on you, which might be what you want. Keep on improving!
It's also kind of like how you raise skills in some MMOs, you could raise it at a slower rate by doing the easy tasks or higher rates by trying things that might fail or take more time.
The lights are great! I noticed them immediately. I like the angle of the light. Because they illuminate you from the edges, though, it might help if they were just a little further out of frame to soften up the brightest parts of the frame and eliminate the slight glint effect I noticed occasionally. Overall, I think it was a big nighttime lightning improvement, and I think you should keep it up, but it’s your call.
I think undiagnosed mental health issues or neurodiversity may also contribute. Understanding how your brain works, or treating mental health issues can also go along way towards in your physical health journey.
Mindful consistency is best. If you are aware you can make changes while being consistent. You will make the most progress. I like continuous improvement not perfection.
I have been trying to apply a similar mindset to starting my RUclips channel. I want to stay consistent but I don't want to get stuck in the grindset mindset. Right now I am trying to view every video as an experiment and opportunity to find those little epiphanies. I wonder if I am better off focusing on a niche, or if I can just make a channel with everything that I'm interested in. Fitness, gaming, dance, writing, spirituality, meditation, cooking. Can I cram all that into one channel? I don't see why not. I like lots of stuff. And things. I like stuff and things. And whatnot.
I would choose two to put together so you have something unique but still specific. Once your channel is popular enough, you can occasionally do other random things. E.g. the mindful chef
Hello Hampton, just wanted to drop in and say I ordered a pair of parallettes from your shop to hopefully take my training to the next level. Still learning tuck planches. Been watching you for a couple months and love your positivity. I’ll let you know how the parallettes feel when they arrive November 5th!
I always use a maths comparency. So when I always do "2+2" for 3 days a week, I am consistant, but there won't be any progress😂 I am learning the piano for 1 year now and there are songs my teacher wants me to learn which really suck at first sight, but these are the songs with most progress afterwards 😊
Oof, I should not have watched this video lol. I live such a busy and stressful life that my only solace was that if I just turn off my brain and keep showing up to get through my straightforward gym routine, that I'd eventually see results. I keep looking for consolation in the fact that I'm a person who values repetition and strict routine and doesn't enjoy creativity or switching things up. Then I watched this video, maybe it really is finally time for me to throw in the towel
I know this is late, but what about continuing to do your routine while being aware of small improvements you can make? That's what I got out of this. So you still are doing the same thing, but better. Then those improvements become small changes. I could have misinterpreted what he was saying, but that's what I thought he was saying.
I have rotator cuff pain, restricted movement in shoulder range and a bad left knee. This does not also include arthritic hands. What can you recommend where I’m not doing huge arms circles or how can I adapt movements?
Yeah I'd say consistency with an intent to improve through that consistency. We intuitively know this with other skills like music and art - but with fitness, it gets a bit confusing because of the idea of "repetition." The nuance is that if you have a perfect routine for yourself (including the variables of periodization), then you wouldn't need much change. But the vast majority of people get into fitness without an ideal routine. So they have to learn as they go, and they would benefit from the mindset of both practicing and learning. That's my opinion on it!
Also chances are that you don't learn the thing, just the movement. You might know how to yank a cable down with cable flies, but do you know how to properly engage your shoulders along with other muscles?
Sometimes it helps to have snacks like prepped celery and other low sugar vegetables that will help retrain your taste buds to enjoy healthier food. Good luck in your journey!
This is a deep topic and hard to fully address in a comment, but try some higher satiety foods! Protein-heavy foods can more satiating. Steak and ground beef if you eat meat, and vegan protein sources if you're vegan. This means you'll feel more full while getting fewer calories while still eating enough to nourish you. For psychological sources, you can look into intuitive eating - that's helped some people I know. Some people have success with dietitians too.
This is what works for me personally. I always have the foods that I crave in my pantry. Whenever I feel the urge to binge, I always say to myself that I can still eat them tomorrow so it's okay to eat just enough now. And I do portion my main meal just on the plate, more protein, more fiber but I can't give up white rice because I'm asian 😅 I see to it that I can still eat the foods that I love and eat until I feel full (not physically sick), not over restricting myself because this triggers me to binge.

Hampton teaching.... Thank you
The lights are great, and I like them. 👍
And I liked the rest of the video as well. Just saying. :p
No matter what, I will always remember you as the Ifunnier that made a lot of other ifunniers less fat and possibly gay. Bless you!
Appreciation🦋
Cool lights Hampton!!🙂
9:15 Also different brains that have certain exercises that just _click_ better for them.
This is a good discussion thanks
Hi Hampton! Hope all is well 🙏 Link part 1 in comments or description!!
Good idea. Will do that right now, thanks!

Simple, but smart
Bro, could you make a "You CAN do planks, my friend" video? I'm struggling with that. Thanks in advance
@Hampton, can you make a video on Knuckle pushups? Do you think they are better on the wrists and still provide similar benefits of a regular pushup?
I wish Hampton was my personal trainer ❤
I liked the lights hammpy
6:21 the day has turned into night. It's the 10th hour and Hampton is still standing there and rapping about getting fit 👀
💡♥
Let him cook.
I like the bubbles.
The lights are a bit spooky but it fits the date :)
I always use a maths comparency. So when I always do "2+2" for 3 days a week, I am consistant, but there won't be any progress😂
I am learning the piano for 1 year now and there are songs my teacher wants me to learn which really suck at first sight, but these are the songs with most progress afterwards 😊
Love your videos
consistency is hard... mostly because i don't have a meaningful goal i would guess.
(yes the lights are cool)
Routine makes consistency easier
What is the best way to maintain muscle mass while fasting for long periods of time
Bro, where is the rest of that tai chi form?
I have rotator cuff pain, restricted movement in shoulder range and a bad left knee. This does not also include arthritic hands. What can you recommend where I’m not doing huge arms circles or how can I adapt movements?
So in a way its about intent and what "Mini Goals" you're setting for yourself?
Yeah I'd say consistency with an intent to improve through that consistency. We intuitively know this with other skills like music and art - but with fitness, it gets a bit confusing because of the idea of "repetition."
The nuance is that if you have a perfect routine for yourself (including the variables of periodization), then you wouldn't need much change. But the vast majority of people get into fitness without an ideal routine. So they have to learn as they go, and they would benefit from the mindset of both practicing and learning. That's my opinion on it!
My problem is I'm not consistent and not enough intensity when I do workout.
Also chances are that you don't learn the thing, just the movement. You might know how to yank a cable down with cable flies, but do you know how to properly engage your shoulders along with other muscles?
Can you create a free routine if longevity is the goal?
Ie a balance between general fitness for health.
He has one on his website hybridcalisthenics 😊
So how's your day been?
Doing well! You?
I'm a little late but I've been well so far thanks for asking
If someone has myositis, what would be your advice if you have any .
Whats the best way to lose belly fat? From January i was 96kilos now im at 83kilos but my belly is still abit big.
this was the problem with Pewdiepie's 100 days of drawing
Why do people still say that exercise is useless when your goal is to lose weight? Do you guys think that's true?
Not at all , exercising will definitely help you lose weight .
Need some motivation. I'll do one push up for every like I get.
i can't stop overeating it's ruining my life I can't get out of the circle I'm literally losing my mind ..any tips friends?
Sometimes it helps to have snacks like prepped celery and other low sugar vegetables that will help retrain your taste buds to enjoy healthier food. Good luck in your journey!
@user-bg9em7ch6k yeah your right thank you
This is a deep topic and hard to fully address in a comment, but try some higher satiety foods!
