I’ve long been a fan of smoked hamburgers. Truly the best way humans have yet devised for making a burger. Plus, if you have competent help in the kitchen, it gives plenty of time for nursing a few beers and everyone knows beer tastes best when you have smoke rolling.

It is a lot...solution is scale that recipe up and jar it, seal those jars up in a hot water bath or pressure cooker. Steak sauce for the year and you just saved a good amount of money ;)

I made these 3 weeks ago and was blown away - soo damn good. i'm making them today for friends for Labor Day. The garlic mayo is killer. I like to put a bit of butter on each half of the kaiser rolls and give them a light toasting. Wright's hickory smoked bacon is our fave. Love your video's Malcom!

Been experimenting with a small griddle on one side of the Kamado. Melt some butter on the griddle then finish with a one minute seer both sides on griddle. Good video.
Someone who likely didn't care for the recipe disliked it. Seems simple enough to understand. I didn't thumb it down. But it's not a burger I'd make. Too many seasonings. If you're going to grind your own to get good beef flavor, seems kind of counterintuitive to then add all that rub + strong steak sauce. But that's what cooking burgers, or anything, is all about. You get to cook it the way you want. And you're allowed to not care for the way someone else cooks it. Thanks - Lumpy

One point to make here is that you don't need the expensive grill or Wagyu-infused burger to do this. I did it last night on my Weber with SNS and a grill topper - I used home-processed venison burger and a couple small oak chunks for smoke. It also took about 45 minutes low and slow for around 1/2 lb burgers (venison cooks slower due to its low fat content). As for the rest of the burger ... do what YOU like - make your best burger, but just smoke the patty - you'll be glad you did.

Nah, too much hassle. Toast 'em in the oven after slicing if you like, insides up, middle rack, on broil for just a few minutes, I'd think.
