Homemade orgeat will take your tiki drinks to the next level. Feel free to add orange blossom water and almond extract if you like, but this simple recipe yields a very almondy delicious syrup that will take your mai tais from “meh” to mmmmm.
Sister, you have covered all, of the bases. From soup to nuts, so to speak. I’ve been putting off making my own, homemade Orgeat & your post has pushed me over the top. I thought I had seen everyone else’s post, but zero stars for RUclips’s algorithm I’d say. Great job.
We are just always impressed with how you produce your videos. Cam sad it best - very high quality. Thank you for always inspiring us to be better. Kindly, Theresa
Great filming and editing. keeps me wanting to watch more. Never tried making Orgeat and using it. Now that I am trying to make different types of Old-Fashioned drinks, I'll have to find a use for this to make some. thanks and cheers
I could listen to your voice all day long lol. SOOOOO Soothing. Wonderful recipe. You'd probably get faster results straining with a nut milk bag instead. Is there a reason not to with this recipe?
Thank you! The only reason I didn’t I’d because I find it hard to strain with the sugar added- though you could always just add the sugar after with the same result!
Very clear and beautifully filmed tutorial! Would adding a Tbsp or so of vodka after straining help extend the life of the orgeat? (It apparently helps with simple syrup -- see Alcademics Blog)
I’d say so, though I haven’t tried it myself. Steve the Bartender adds some brandy to his I believe. I’d still keep it refrigerated though. Thank you for your kind words!
I've made orgeat with toasted almonds twice, and I can tell you it's delicious. The syrup does turn out lightly brown, but shaken into a cocktail the end product is milky wite nonetheless. I'm not entirely sure of adding syrup to my blendered almonds rather than water and dissolving sugar in later, I'm sure it'd make a mess, but then again my last batch was terrible for sugar dissolution so I think I'll try that next time.
There’s something to be said about toasted almond orgeat. It is truly delicious! Toasting certainly makes the almond flavor come out a lot more. Thanks for watching :)
@@TheWeePearl Just made a batch of white orgeat (blanched and skinned almonds) with syrup added to almonds rather than sugar dissolved in almond milk. I'm definitely not a fan of the sticky mess I had to strain, but the particle size is so small I figure I might as well just not strain at all, so I guess that's how I'm making next batch, because it's certainly easier and better in every other way so far.
Hi i would like to ask how should i clarify orgeat? is it using agar agar? cz i saw someone who clarified the milk with lemon first and then used the whey to make the syrup
Great drinks, I'm thirsty! MI love your content! I also started a RUclips channel about food, I hope we both do well. Good luck and keep up the great work! :)
I have been wanting to try orgeat and this is a wonderful recipe. It's not too difficult at all!! The process is lovely and the Mai Tai looked absolutely mouthwatering!! Lovely production!! Thanks so much!! 🙂

One of the easier recipes I have seen
I know, right? Some I’ve seen are sooo complicated

@@TheWeePearl ❤️❤️❤️ ps I realized I wrote sad instead of said but glad you got the context!
That was very educational
I've been wanting to try orgeat. This is a great tutorial! Homemade syrups are ALWAYS better than store-bought.
I couldn’t agree more! I try to make all my drink mixers when possible.
great drinks 😋
Thank you!

Thank you! I think you will like it much more than the store bought kind. It adds a lot more texture into cocktails.
looks great 👍👍
Thank you 😊
Excellent! I just made homemade Allspice Dram and Falernum, this may be up next. Bookmarking your recipe! 😊
That sounds great! I’ve never made either

Perfect!!! But how many grams of almonds you add? I mean if you have 400 gr sugar, 600 water how many almonds will you need???😊
So much better to make your own.
Could you provide a link to the bottles you store your syrup in?

You could. Just keep in mind the agar can sometimes leave behind a metallic taste. Also add the sugar after clarifying.

Did you roast the almonds?
I did not, but you definitely can. It will have a richer flavor. Cheers!
Thanks
Any drinks with a pistachio orgeat?

@@TheWeePearl TY!!
What is the storage life on this orgeat?
3 weeks in the refrigerator
@@TheWeePearl Thank you!!
Great Video. I Love Mai Tai. . Please watch a Cocktail Tony
Thank you 😊
I love homemade orgeat and what a great Mai Tai you have've got there!
Thank you. It was so good. I don’t make mai tais as often as I should. Cheers!
Do you get any separation in your orgeat after making it?
Yes. I stated using a bit of xanthan gum and gum Arabic to mitigate the separation.
Do you should describe recipe please my brother
Hey! You can find my recipe on my website www.theweepearl.com/recipes/orgeat
overcomplicated. blend the almonds on high with warm water until they are integrated, squeeze the liquid through a cloth, dissolve the sugar, done
A couple tips. Roast your almonds, add a vanilla bean, and use a raw sugar.
