    If you want to do it on your own model - You can still use my processes file for S3D :) If you want to also adjust layer heights, different retractions or settings - You can alter the .factory file (load in S3D)
    Yes you can ALSO do the same thing in the temperature tab by telling it what layer number to change - there's more than one way to skin a cat!

    Or on Thingiverse: www.thingiverse...
    (Be sure to untick the extra restart distance - accidentally on in the file)
    Someone mentioned you can see darkweb links on my bookmarks bar - Its part of a new series i'm working on similar to: • BEST CUSTOM POKEMON!! ...
    Check out "The ordinary Gamer" there's some cool stuff on there! There is also 3dPrinting sites which ill be showcasing in coming videos.

    This is also a good way to dial-in a ideal temperature for maximum clarity, when using translucent filaments. (amongst other tweaks that help also)
    +1 for "closing cat"

    you can just do it with a single process and set new temperature setpoints at different layer numbers(as you did for your first layer). Much quicker than creating all those processes. This is one of the best things about S3D.

      +The Hot End - 3D Printing And Electronics Oh yes sorry, didnt read it. Both methods are much better than changing it manually via the front panel though. Really great tip BTW.

    • @TheHotEndChannel
      @TheHotEndChannel  8 лет назад

      +Scienteer You can also use the .factory file to make it do different things per 10mm chunk - like change retraction, change layer heights, infil % and/or type etc.

  • @TheHotEndChannel
    @TheHotEndChannel  8 лет назад +1

    Another note - You can turn off top/bottom layers for process 2-8 - dont need new tops/bottoms for the mid section

    Great little test print!
    You can actually setup this test with a single process if you use the layer setpoints in the Temperature tab. Say you're using 0.2mm layer height, you would put a new temperature every 5 layers.
    Layer 1 235
    Layer 5 230
    Layer 10 225
    Layer 15 220
    Layer 20 215
    Layer 25 210
    Layer 30 205
    Layer 35 200
    Layer 40 195
    This should speed up the print a bit, as you wont be generating top and bottom solid layers for all of the process changes.

    excellent video! people do not realize how important temperature is in 3D printing.

    Great video man. I love simplify 3d videos. The model you have set up seems extremely useful. I'll have to try it out when I get some new material.

    • @TheHotEndChannel
      @TheHotEndChannel  8 лет назад

      +A Pyro Design Have Fun :D you can also get it to alter retraction, temps, whatever u want per chunk using my .factory file

      +The Hot End - 3D Printing And Electronics Good stuff man. I told you I'm way more artist than technical so stuff like this helps me a lot. I've been 3d printing for longer than a lot of people but sometimes feel like I'm just starting too haha.

    Fantastic idea! Love to see the time lapse to see how this works. Really, this is scientific hypothesis testing at the highest level. :)

      +Michael Phelps Ill have to re-print (i show right at the end that my timelapse failed)
      You can also use the .factory file in S3d to do different tests per 10m block

    Why the heck dont you just change the temperatur at specifit layers? then you need just ONE process

    These are horrendous settings for cr-10 printer. Retraction settings are off the charts and my print was completely crazy looking even after printing the base.

    quick question, is there a reason you're not able to give us the Gcode for the people who don't have Simplyfi3D?

    • @TheHotEndChannel
      @TheHotEndChannel  8 лет назад

      +boomerangfreak Its a Simplify3D series. I'm not sure if sharing gcode created within paid s/ware is in breach of the EULA so i wont risk it. Just buy S3D or enter the contest and try win a copy.....

    i printed out a 90mm tall cube, and changed the temperature of the nozzle by 5° every 10mm starting at 230° and ending at 190°. I see no determinable difference in the print quality of any layers. The entire cube looks the same. Im stumped

    I notice you have the extrusion width set to 0.50mm but the nozzle is a 0.40mm can I ask why that is ? Any benefits ?
