She was wearing high heeled shoes, and a jacket/skirt ensemble, with her nightgown, with little pink ribbon, tucked in underneath! How do I no this?? Because my mom would have done the same thing at 4AM! Loved it!
Fun fact: In David Sedaris' published diary, he describes Amy doing the same bit at 5:19 where she pretends that random people are her friends when visiting him in '87 after she finished her first few improv classes.
I loved her home tour, she would say "I need to go see what my husband wants" or "I need to check on my baby." Like her I have no husband or baby and I make those kinds of jokes!
the story David told about Amy and him taking the train and when she got off at her stop, on the way out she yelled back at him: "Good luck beating that rape charge!" and walked off the train. it kills me.
Love Amy! This was hysterical. I used to live right there at 113 Christopher Street. Never knew I lived next door to the awesome and irresistible Amy Sedaris!
It seems our interests periodically synch up :) I was surprised to see your name in the comments- Hope you've been well. I'm off social media, but email me if you like.
The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, Neil Armstrong with the Moon Landing ... and Amy Sedaris does Dave's 4am show ... iconic TV moments: without realizing it, this very spot carved Amy's face into Television Comedy history: it's that good.
No wonder Dave supposedly offered her 12:30 (the show that Craig Ferguson eventually got; Amy turned it down according to Bill Carter's 2nd late night book)! Killer talent.
In retrospect, Im glad she turned it down. She's one of those comedic talents that you enjoy on an occasional basis. I love her, but I don't think I can take her level of quirkiness five nights a week.
I just love Amy Sedaris so much. Just made me so sad all over again, after watching her last appearance on Dave tonight, Wednesday, Apr. 15, 2015, that I may never see her again. This woman needs her own sitcom. She cracks me up every time. Just hilarious.
wow... she looks great! and.. this was brave of her! used to see her in her building (not saying where obviously) bear with me i've been up all night so this will be confusing.. This was such an odd time only a few years after 9/11..trying to feel normal. I worked here a few years later. (this video is making me realize how long ago it was and it sucks). I just.. miss it with all of my heart... and it's not so much the location sometimes as cherishing the time spent here. This era... god.. The West village is ... such an amazing place.. the affluent... the poor.. the weird.. it's probably one of the smartest and progressive areas in the entire world.. I still can't believe I got to be here everyday. Sadly I can't just hop on an R train right now and see it within a few spins of my ipod.. I'll never forget my first halloween night here during parade.. my first date here.. and so many things have changed in 10 years... Walking through washington square casually while Obama is giving a speech.. coming out of a building on Hudson and getting a smirking glance from Lou Reed.. or playing dogs with Famke Janssen.. eating a hard boiled egg from a bodega... watching a man get hit with a baseball bat in broad daylight at the old Gotham porn shop...nearly getting blitzed by paparazzi tracking Minnie Driver.. paparazzi talking to me while waiting for Gisele and Tom Brady.. wondering if the hot babes in meat packing ever checked me out... yeah... R I P Kim's video!!!... I guess you never really knew how intense it was because it was so calm, I miss my acquaintances... even though they knew why I was there and we exist in separate classes.. everybody felt welcome.. we all had a common connection. I don't think it would be the same with a visit as the generations change but.. This is truly the adult-world disney land... I fucking miss it.. I love and miss all of you.. from the homeless to the celebrities..we were all on the same team in this cozy cutout of Manhattan island.. it's been too god damn long. I miss throwing up on the street from $1 drafts at Wicked Willy's .. I miss talking to Raheem. I miss playing darts at kettle or margaritas at cowgirls.. creepily sitting alone at slaughtered lamb (wow we drank a lot) or wasting quarters on galaga.. I miss sitting in front of Werner Herzog at IFC.. or taking low photos of Marwencol dolls on the sidewalk before I knew the story.. Spent a lot of time here... rarely at home.. in ten years whatever has happened to anyone professionally.. or if they're still with us or not.. It's really the strongest bittersweet I've ever felt. Unreal. Thank you so much for the memories, and here's to the future. I love and miss all of you.. I hope to feel that magic again soon. oh and $3 lychee martinis near caliente.. oh first short film festival submission in the village.. small or not having a film played in Manhattan was a big deal for me. rooftop party afterward... remedies at 4am haha... wow.
Wow, I found the intersection and in fact that red deal on Google maps today (15 years after this was taped) and I can just say that boy, that fire red thingy needs to be repainted!
That was the year I moved out of the village. The breeder take over was almost complete. Those stores are all gone as is all the gritty fun that 2 million dollar condo owners frown upon. I have a daytime video tour of Christopher St in 2002 on my channel.
It’s pretty sad: Marc Blitzstein was one of the great, pioneering American composers of the twentieth century. Now? He’s just an unknown name on a worn piece of bronze in Greenwich Village...
Dave used to do this kind of random anarchic shit like having a show at 4AM all the time on his old NBC show, at the 12:30 AM slot after Carson that Conan O'Brien took over, like a show where they rotated the angle of the show 360 degrees over the course of the hour, holding a show on an airplane flight to Florida, a show done in a hotel room, things like that. It was pretty rare for him to do those kinds of shows after his switch to CBS in the 90's through till 2015, so this is another reason why this segment is so awesome. Not only Peak Amy Sedaris but Dave is mixing it up by filming at this hour, which was a great throwback.
Villemar Conan O’Brien was inspired by some of Letterman’s antics when he finally got his shot on the late night slot. Conan did an entire show on boat. He once did an episode where the entire audience was children. Wonderfully awkward moments that you can only catch if you were up.
I LOVE HER LOTS!!! im glad i got reunited with her through a suggestion here on YT.....i havent seen her since literally, strangers with candy....i was at Stan State and a friend, Lauren B. introduced me to her and the show on CC....
The block of Christopher she walks down is almost totally different now. Theater still there as is the Hangar but most of the shops have closed/changed.
I just checked Google Street view for that location and that fire box as beautifully bright red as it is looks like it hasn’t been painted in about 40 years already. New York weather is rough
@@tribequest9 yes, but its old and the resolution is bad. I did see however a network looked as if they where airing episodes. CBS all access.. i could be wrong. The dvd is nice because there is so much extra like commentary from the cast and interviews and such.
She is so ridiculously awesome it blows my mind.
same
The wittiest, quickest comedienne out there!! Pay attention or you'll miss how hilarious she is!
6:25 "why do you ask?".....damn that was a quick wit...what a gift she is! Intelligent, articulate & whip smart. Her giggle is my elixir.
She should have said. Oh idk in a couple of days
"they have holes" that joke got no laughs but was one of the funniest things she said.
They probably thought she meant potholes, also there was overlap in audio
Gloryholes
The movie Holes, which need no change in name to be a porn title.
Also, “this is where I get my breakfast burrito... and margarita.”
"Internal Sunshine of the Spotless Behind"
She was wearing high heeled shoes, and a jacket/skirt ensemble, with her nightgown, with little pink ribbon, tucked in underneath! How do I no this??
Because my mom would have done the same thing at 4AM!
Loved it!
Love the elbow slipping off the table after saying 'This where I have my margaritas'.
She must have heard "Stay on the runner" as a kid, and thought it was so hilarious. She's always uses that line. I love her, and her brother
This whole appearance is a masterpiece, what a pro Amy is
That put a huge smile on my face. She's brilliant!
Probably one of the best late night talk shows segments!! Watch and learn!!!
It's a common joke I do it too. Makes people freak and it's funny :0)
the story David told about Amy and him taking the train and when she got off at her stop, on the way out she yelled back at him: "Good luck beating that rape charge!" and walked off the train. it kills me.
I’ve seen this 20 times, gives me a smile every time.
Amy Sedaris is so adorable.
Love Amy! This was hysterical. I used to live right there at 113 Christopher Street. Never knew I lived next door to the awesome and irresistible Amy Sedaris!
I can’t get over how pretty she is and how she absolutely contorted her face on Strangers With Candy. That was such a hilarious show.
What Amy comes up with off the cuff is continually brilliant. A team of writers would be hard pressed to produce such whimsy.
Internal Sunshine of the Spotless Behind. 13 Going Down on 30. They have holes. The shoe store that doesn't have my size. Amy, please marry me.
It seems our interests periodically synch up :) I was surprised to see your name in the comments- Hope you've been well. I'm off social media, but email me if you like.
One of the greatest moments in The Late Show history.
One of my favorite bits from the show. "It's for guys, Dave" So many funny moments.
She is an absolute jewel. Laughter heals & Any can do that. Thanks for sharing this wonderful segment.
The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, Neil Armstrong with the Moon Landing ... and Amy Sedaris does Dave's 4am show ... iconic TV moments: without realizing it, this very spot carved Amy's face into Television Comedy history: it's that good.
How adorable. A great talent with out the pretentiousness. And gorgeous besides.
I remember this video from when it first aired. First time I became aware of Amy. She is such a delight!
That reminds me, I have a prescription for Ambien that's ready to pick up from the pharmacy today. Thanks!
Love her! Such a firecracker!
Omg how much do I miss Dave and the world that once was
Just stumbled on this from blog, so great. Wish would have seen all her appearances as aired!
No wonder Dave supposedly offered her 12:30 (the show that Craig Ferguson eventually got; Amy turned it down according to Bill Carter's 2nd late night book)! Killer talent.

Why did she turn it down?
So much admiration for this woman. She's brilliant!
throw this on whenever i want to be cheered up
Wow, this is super funny. She is hilarious. She so doesn't give a f*ck.
........Why would she give a fuck. She is probably high as a kite on something there.
That’s the best way to be.😁👍
We need to see more of her. So funny. Her brother is great too.

I saw this when it originally aired and fell in love with amy.
*SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL!!*
They should have given her, her own talk show.

she's so great..
I'm so in love with this woman
She doesn't have an awkward bone in her body. She has such an energy about her that it negates any comment that would usually bond
Amy is absolutely sublime on so many levels

I LOVE AMY !!! BRILLIANT!!!!
here we are again...this never gets old !!! 🙂
Gosh, I LOVE her!
This is literally my favorite video on youtube
I was just thinking about this randomly a few weeks ago. She used to be on Conan on New Year's Eve as well. Thanks for uploading it!
I dont even wanna know how many times I've watched this 😂
Once she got going David knew he couldn’t hold her back LOL
Someone please give her her own sitcom, she cracks me up… such a talent!
No I'm well aware of that show but that's from back in the day she need something current .
I just finished her series At Home with Amy Sedaris on TruTv. Cutesy, but so, SO funny!
Wow, I found the intersection and in fact that red deal on Google maps today (15 years after this was taped) and I can just say that boy, that fire red thingy needs to be repainted!
She's the best! Follow along on Google street view to see how the neighborhood has changed.
That was the year I moved out of the village. The breeder take over was almost complete. Those stores are all gone as is all the gritty fun that 2 million dollar condo owners frown upon. I have a daytime video tour of Christopher St in 2002 on my channel.
That area has changed so much in 15 years - gentrification. All of the shops she mentions are now closed, including the Manatus Restaurant.
Boy if you dont want to marry her by the end of this clip you are not human.
"Dave your girlfriend shops here.." Lol Dave did have a secret girlfriend at the time.
Amy Sedaris is a comedic genius
What a comedic mind! So fast and sharp!
She is wonderful.
And was the best person for the job on Louie. Hse has such a great energy.
"This is where I come and get my breakfast burrito .... and margarita." ;-)
A great loss for the neighborhood when she changed address 😞
It’s pretty sad: Marc Blitzstein was one of the great, pioneering American composers of the twentieth century. Now? He’s just an unknown name on a worn piece of bronze in Greenwich Village...
A live show at 4 in the morning? There's a studio audience and everyone is wide awake. Hard to imagine any other show pulling this off.
............ No he used to tape at 5::30 PM. So, this bit was probably around 5::50 PM just before his first guest came out at 6 PM.

I was expecting the cast of strangers with candy to come around the corner.
She is delightful!
how can anyone be that adorable

She’s such a princess Caroline
