Hi mate, the harness adaptor that came with my particular facia only had the plug that connects to the factory harness (just wires on the other end). If the harness that came with yours has plugs on both ends, I'd suggest cutting off the new stereo end to wire it to your new harness (provided it doesn't plug into your new stereo already!)

Is there any reason that so many tutorials prefer to solder harnesses rather than using primary and secondary ISO harnesses? I had a Honda Prelude that I replaced an older aftermarket head-unit for Bluetooth reasons (which I couldn't even use because the P-plate phone laws changed a month later) and the main audio harness was snipped and soldered directly to that head unit's harness. Would have been much easier with plug-and-play ISO harnesses instead.

Hi Alan, that's basically correct that the fascia plate adapts the existing stereo to fit aftermarket units. With some cars, you can get away with not buying a new fascia as the factory stereo sometimes has similar mounting points to aftermarket units, however with the Rangers the stereo/fascia/AC panal and hazard button is all once piece, so to change to any aftermarket stereo requires a new fascia.
