I learn so much from this channel, it's very informative
I feel sometimes people use hype beast too quickly these days. If you have a unique look or even just unique shoes, people might think you’re a HB. Especially people who heard the term but haven’t really researched it.
A hype beast to me means you’re too lazy to dress yourself or search for unique pieces and brands, so you just drop ridiculous money to look like you’re from popular brand’s catalog.
I just don’t like the term in general. As it’s said on this channel, just wear what you want to express what you want, and make sure it’s true to you.
six sense But then again, there's always this growing bias against hypebeasts. If you see a relatively fashionable outfit with supreme, bape, off white etc, you'll think that outfit is shit, but if you were to take off all the branding you would praise the person for not giving to hyped brands. Hypebeast is such a loose term that it really doesnt have a meaningful message.

This is mentality everyone should have; wear what you like, regardless of whether it’s popular or not. Don’t be part of the crowd that always hops on the latest trends (some are hyped for the wrong or stupid reasons), but also don’t be part of the crowd that thinks they’re so edgy and different because they don’t follow the mass appeal yet still carry the sheep mentality.

I"m a bit of a hypebeast myself which is kinda rare where i come from in Nairobi, Kenya tho most youth are into trendy latest fashion pieces eg. Fear Of God, Off-White, VLONE etc.( most of em being counterfeit as it rare and expensive to find authentic high end fashion here )...but what learnt over the years is not to go for trendy expensive stuff which are most likely die out in a few years (If not a year)..i go for a simple but fresh unique pieces which one can easily find in the thrift stores and markets e.g Vans, Levi's denim, Cheap Monday pants, Topman, Guess, GAP, Air Jordans,Chuck Taylors etc.(pieces that can never go outta style)..i personally believe as long as you know how rock or mix n match up your pieces you can still look cool and be comfortable thats if u cant afford high end street fashion..saves me a lot of dough

Personally I feel like a lot of the hypebeasts I've seen on youtube don't really know how to dress well. They pretty much take all that is "popular" and all the high end pieces they can get and throw it on. It ends up looking like a mess.

I am def a hype beast, but not fully geared up. I try to influence what I like with something thats the on going trend, for example the sunglow HU I try to add my own style to it. I know I can dress like a full hypebeasts wear a shark hoodie, wear v1 yeezy's wear supreme etc and don't even think about what colors work together. But when I see that on other people I just see a brain dead style copy pasted. And when I recommend friends other clothing like japanese brands, they come with the excuse "its not my style" when they only want to wear what is the hypebeast items hype items. It's sometimes sad to watch that there is no brain activity or creativity.
I believe in this > If you wear something you can make it something, however I believe everyone can pick an outfit together through trial and error, don't try to walk around like a peacock. It's not bad to look the same as someone else, but if you are going the streetwear way, influence it yourself I can really appreciate that.
PS I wear brands I love, I always wear something from Stone Island, its the best brand from my perspective, I once had a problem and got treated like a Queen/King

I'm a Project Engineer and my brand loyalty is only to Levis, The North Face, Caterpillar, no-branded plain polo tee and smart casual. Simple and comfortable.
Yet those who're still schooling and still asking their mommy and daddy for pocket money are able to buy these Supreme or some other weird brand products.
If you have a good 90+ Average, there's nothing wrong with that.
Please make a brand explaining the difference between Porter & Head Porter. I've loosely followed the brand for the last 10 years or so but I've never been able to understand the difference...especially in price and construction. Earlier this year I was visiting Japan and was finally excited to have easy access to "Porter" products so I visited a "Porter" store in Harajuku (Head Porter) looking for a specific bag. Staff told me " this is Head Porter, not Porter; we don't carry that bag in this store" Anyways enough of my trilogy worthy story..... I'm just confused by the difference. Please explain! P.S. You have such a great take on Japanese fashion culture. Keep doing what you do! Very glad I found this channel

The term hypebeast is used way too much. Even if you just wear a few pieces from time to time from brands like supreme or the like you immediately become a hypebeast. Average people view high fashion as some kind of meme where you’re just doing it for clout. They don’t even consider the fact that you may just enjoy a certain look or brand, not necessarily because everyone else is wearing it.

I think it sucks sometimes because it makes it difficult to really weed out what is authentic & actually from the street vs. what is not, what is really for street use how many times have we bought Gucci and it tears up quickly-?? or OFF WHITE product on GILDAN with a Bill Mayer cosign.. I mean come on.... At times we sacrifice the quality of the garment just to fit in ...and in a sense nothing is really wrong with that if you are dressing how you feel.. but it is rather easy to get L O S T I N T H E S A U C E !!!
AND... independent brands looking for an easy comeup with all the "HYPE" may do well to join a community of hypebeasts- learn what they like and why ... make it relevant - use the platform and expound upon it... its not just about expression anymore...it goes back to being accepted - if its real it'll stick with your friends & your fans.

Common misconception that i found in his video was that he claimed that hypebeasts started streetwear. Even before Jordans, which sat on shelves when they released, people rocked the basics, but it was HOW they did ot as you said. It was never about "look at what i got"
