  • A wildfire unlike any other has left a historical town in the Canadian Rockies unrecognizable.
Today, Alberta's leader choked back tears during an emotional update on the situation in Jasper, as images from the ground revealed the extent of the devastation.
Homes burned down to their foundations, cars left with nothing but their frames, and many wondering what happens next.

We as a country need to get our shit together and start helping each other with personel and equipment.
The government waits way to long ,you cant wait til out of control before sending extra help.
All the taxes we pay😤.....get help from the US ,pay the bill .
Havent we learned anything from the past...c'mon ,this is Canada.
I am from NS. Myself and thousands of others had to experience being told to leave our houses behind and run.
I will say it would be more cost effective to utilize more water bombers before it gets out of control and risking lives of firefighters, than paying out emergency and disaster funds to the people after damage is done.
When a 1 acre fire starts, send air support ASAP.
Dont worry about the cost,it will save us all money in the end, save houses, vehicles, animals, and peoples lives.
Maybe time to cut back on government bonuses.

I think your fear is justified. They will try to make us believe that new modern concrete buildings will be more environmentally efficient, improved buildings that exceed the current building codes. Blah, blah, blah. We absolutely need to be hyper vigilant that the Government/corporations do not get away with it.

It’s very special and house building is limited to keep the town from turning into an urban sprawl 😣Many popular chain burger joints are not allowed. Light pollution is enforced in the national park so you can actually see the stars at night. Litter and other garbage must be put
In special receptacles, to avoid wildlife from coming to town regularly looking to eat.
This is a tight knit community that work hard to keep it pristine, maintaining the historical jewel that is Jasper.
Wildlife does wander into town and on the golf course. Parks Canada uses rubber bullets if the dangerous animals cant be shooed away.
I wont go on but you get the picture.
Now BANFF AB. is over run and out of control if that’s the kind of thing you like.

I hope this fire ignites some improvements for the wildfire agencies around the country, especially in Alberta. There’s so much to learn about wildfire that we just neglect and fail to and properly address, such as the horrific retention rates of wildfire employees, lack of funding and experience, and just a lack of both initiative, as well as belief that these things will happen. This fire was a LONG time coming and instead, we cut funding to our wildfire programs and waited for it to happen. Same thing happened to other towns and almost happened to Edson last year (2023). We can do better to protect our people and communities.

I feel for all those who have been affected by this, nobody wants to have to go through something like this.. It is also a community that has built itself inside a dense forest, with that comes the risk. Just like those that build in earthquake, hurricane and tornado prone areas, you have to know your surroundings and anticipate an event. The people of Jasper are strong and proud, it will be back in time. ent.

They should have dealt with it before the fire became big. Smiths government is flush with surplus budget money so she didnt have to waste time waiting for federal money. Mrs. Smith as primer of Alberta has a responsibility to protect the province and everyone living there!!!
Since last years massive fires in that province, what has changed?
The fires still happen and people are effected by them, what has changed is the governments lack of responding to the fires!!!
Last year we saw how the Federal government had no way of controlling the fires, in fact they hired people to start more, to help boost the CO2 levels in Canada, so they could increase the carbon taxes, being collected across the country!!!
When in fact the Federal government and ALL the provinces, not just Alberta should have been pushing Ottawa, for more fire bombers to fight these fires, WHY because they are the fastest and most effective why of fighting these fires, but they didn't WHY???
Because they all want a bigger slice of the Carbon Pie, that only Ottawa dishes out!!!
So these provinces should be holding back ALL the taxes collected and use it to build their own fire bombing system and send the receipts to Ottawa!!!
Plus have all these fire fighting bombers, controlled and maintained by our CAF Troops, to fight the fires and protect our country from the fires!!!
IT'S our money let's start using it to benefit our country not someone else's!!!
