I’ve been watching Laurel and Hardy since I was a child. I’m 62 now and years ago I bought the whole set of their works. I don’t care how many times I’ve seen any one of their films that I don’t laugh until tears are pouring out of my eyes. Timeless comedy. My nephews who are now men started watching them since they were small. Stan and Ollies comedy will never die!
How can anyone not like these pair? Kids will allways grow up watching these films once you have watched one you want more. I remember watching these when I was growing up.
Great video. Laughed like it was the first time I'd watched them. Been a fan ever since I was 7 im now 53 and I still cry with laughter now. There will never be anyone to replace the best comedy duo ever. God bless them both.
Stan Laurel was the comedic genius of the duo. But even then Stanley never would have worked alone without Ollie. But James Finlayson was the cherry on top of the cake.
I used to do the talks at the Britannia Panopticon where Stan made his debut at 16 in 1906. He tried to do vocal humour, but through circumstances his father, who was unknown to Stan in the audience, advised him to go down the route of slapstick. I know his 1st ever gag.😁😁
What I find most funny is as you notice. Oliver is always looking at the camera when Stan does something stupid. It is almost like he is looking for audience reaction and giving the same approval of “now isn’t this stupid“.
Stan Laurel was indeed a comedy genius and when he teamed up with Oliver Hardy together they were one of the best comedy teams ever and became true comedy icons.
You have no need to apologise It should be me apologising I can't write a single word in Italian You're a L&H fan that's enough for me have a good at David
Thanks so much for sharing this, even moreso if you created it!! Fascinating insight into the man, loved this duo since I was first introduced to them at age 8, 30 years later I still watch their videos regularly. Glad to see so many people dedicated to keeping their work alive :)
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. We did produce this, with the help of members of the Laurel & Hardy Appreciation Society. A fantastic organisation to be involved in. Great fun & nice people.
@@DirtyWorkPictures Cheers for the informative reply, I'll definitely check them out, and respect again for putting together this documentary, really enjoyed it!
Ollie was no slouch either. Stan’s very real genius was tied to Ollie being the foil; his reactions and his impeccable timing too, were critical to the laughs. Stan may have been the driver but Ollie had his foot on the gas.
Kyp Harness’s book, THE ART OF LAUREL AND HARDY: Graceful Calamity in the Films, will tell you all you want to know about L&H. Babe died when I was 7 but I still remember the broadcast and the clip they played.
OLIVA NORVEL HARDY DIED IN 1957 FROM A STROKE AT THE AGE OF 48 YEARS OLD AND STAN LAUREL DIED FROM A HEART ATTACK AT THE AGE OF 65 YEARS OLD AND THEY WERE THE FUNNIEST COMEDY TEAM THAT EVER LIVED 😔
I love Stan laurel he was actually engaged to my great great grandma but sadly they called it off it would of been great to be related to him my favourite film is one where Laural and Hardy are selling Christmas (big buissness) trees who else loves the episode plz like if u do ⬇️
I loved that. May I be greedy and suggest a succession of documentaries on their fellow and regular co-stars? A while ago I noticed what a wealth of talent worked with Stan and Ollie; my favourites being James Finlayson and Arthur Housman also Mae Bucsh, and looked into some of their other work.
That is a good idea but there doesn't seem to be enough information on each of them. However, I do know a descendant of James Finlayson is currently planning a biography of Fin, so that one could happen!
@@DirtyWorkPictures Well, that will be something to look forward to and I will certain be interested buying such a book. How times have changed; these days celebraties seem so keen to have the most personal aspect of their lives out in full view - hence no mystic about them.
I think they were not geneous, but the perfekt humanes! They showed how miserable life can be and to make the best out of it. Their performance was a present, because they were not egoists (because they gave the last), were not vain and autocratic, as other are! And they had the talent to show, both one's in a another funny way, how the feelings are at the present moment, for the unwanted situation. A man, who cries, like Stan, today with the muscle-monsters, Unbeliveable, because the want to be strong ... but Stan was really strong! Stan and Oliver had to meet each other, because they both together have been perfekt, what they never claimed to be ... that's WHY both of them were. Stars like them you can love, even you don't know them personally .... their humanity connect!
my fave movie was fra diavolo. One of my fave scenes would have to be when the waiter has dificulties imitating Laurel's hand moves. Another one would have to be bullfighters- "human hipopotamus"- i died in laughter.
For me the line that Stan said "I'M NOT AS DUMB AS YOU LOOK" took the cake. Or one could twist that around "YOU'RE NOT AS DUMB AS I LOOK" or "WE'RE BOTH AS DUMB AS THEY LOOK" etc. etc. Get it?
@@wobbers99 This is a Dirty Work Pictures production. We are still here. However, Chris Coffey who featured as a talking head in this film, passed away a couple of years ago.
At Stan Laurel's funeral service at Church of the Hills, Buster Keaton said, "Chaplin wasn't the funniest. I wasn't the funniest; this man was the funniest."
Neither Stan Laurel or Oliver Hardy were broke. They had enough money for a comfortable life. However it wasn't a fortune. The story of them being broke is untrue.

Best comedy double act ever. Thank you Stan and Ollie. You have given this 88 year old Englishman a lifetime of pleasure. April, 2024.
These two will never, ever be beaten. The greatest comedy team of all time. Great video 👏

Imagine my joy while doing ancestral research when i discovered i was related to Jimmy Finlayson .
A comedy genius my childhood favourites Laurel & Hardy 😄
Stan Laurel is until today snd in the future, one of the best comedian ever.
His Mimik ist extraordinary !!! 😊
Nobody been able to better them as they still make me laugh
They were unique comedians.... enduring time passing by....
Buster Keaton “Forget Chaplin, Stan was the greatest”
Buster Keaton was absolutely right!

Hello, this is also my real opinion, Stan was a 100 %Comedian and had the ideas for best Scenes!!! 👍😂
Yes, me too, but Olli was also so cute.💋💋💋💋💋

he's an idiot he's no genius dummy
I correct you! THE BEST!
Charlie chaplin had the name! But Stan Laurel was much better than him……
Lovely valentine for a pair of lovely gentlemen. Such a legacy of laughter - the best kind too.
One of the best documentaries on the boys I ever saw. Brilliant. Learned a lot which I am surprised at after loving them for som many years.

One minor point - Ulverston is in Cumbria, not Lancashire ;-)
When Stan was born there it was in Lancashire then. Changed to Cumbria later.

I heard the reason that Laurel and Hardy came together is because of a piece of lamb.

It makes me sick to know these two geniuses were broke in the 1950s They deserved to be the richest comedy team in Hollywood

Comprend rien, une version FRANCAISE,SVP.
Stan tended to drive a gag into the ground by repeating it too often. Oliver was a comedian.
the only comedy genius in this world is Alyssa Milano
