@@John-b1x6s Hi John, thank you so much for the comment 🙂! Great question as I have always liked the Mercedes and previously owned a GLA which was great! I appreciate you're asking about the GLB but the GLA isn't too far off and I should be reviewing the half-life upgrade GLA soon, so I'll reserve judgement for now, suffice to say given my like for Mercedes I've been surprised how much I like the Volvo too, with the Plus and Ultra models adding even more refinement.
Have a B3 dark now for a year and love it. It's an easy drive and i love the app being able to start the car in this cold weather we've been having is a big bonus. By the time i get into the car it's already defrosted and the seats and steering wheel are lovely and warm. You need to make sure you set what temp you want in the heading display setting screen
Had a plus b3 for the past 2 years, awaiting a new xc60 plus but keeping the 40 as my wife has just after 40 years of driving fell in love with an auto box
I've ordered the XC40 Black Edition B4 Plus. I'm coming from a BMW X1xDrive20i xLine . Although the BMW comes with decent standard options the Volvo comes with far more. Volvo are also doing great deals on this car in the UK. I'm pretty excited about the heated front windscreen! The X1 isn't great on fuel economy either - I get about 33mpg combined.
I've had the XC40 Black Edition B4 for about 3 weeks now. The car drives nice and has a nice look but the fuel economy is appalling. It's a huge disappointment from my 2014 Vauxhall Zafira Tourer 2.0 Ltr Diesel, on top of that it was remapped from 170 - 210 HP and I still average 48-52mpg. Fortunately, I've kept that vehicle and have no intention of selling it. I bought into the lie that Petrol vehicles had made great technological advancement and were allegedly "more fuel efFiciEnt" absolute bullocks. I've had diesel for over 14 years after switching from Petrol, and now I find myself back to petrol in an era where Fuel prices are ridiculously expensive.
I’m considering a b4 dark but I also like the sportage as I really like the Kia’s. Is there any delay with the auto box when pulling out of junctions? I’ve read it can do this and be quite annoying to live with. Also the heater controls being touch screen put me off but are they ok to live with? Thanks.
Hi Jetersson, thanks for the comment 🙂. The short answers is yes and no. There is a mild (maybe a second) delay when pulling out at junctions, which I've only noticed when I've been rushing. As for the heating controls being touch screen, I actually like them as everything is 'just there' on the display and they are easy to control.
You can also use your Google Assistant. "Hey Google increase Fan speed to [numerical number] Hey Google set temperature to [numerical number] Example of commands you can use.
I have one for an year-b3. I feel like the lane keep assist does not work all the time or some times it’s only shows on the dash but does not steer.. other times it vibrates steering wheel and steer
Hi Thomass, thank you for the comment 🙂. I suspect you know this, but (and I'm not in front of the cars display presently so I'm going from memory) on the cars infotainment display if you go into 'Settings' and then 'Driver Assistance' there is an on/off toggle. By default it should be on and it should work. However, if you think it's playing up take it into your local dealership and have a chat with them as I haven't notice any problem with mine.
We are picking up our xc40 B4 plus AWD on a 23 plate next week. Replacing a BMW X1. I think the fact that most controls are through the digital display screen might take a bit of getting used to, however I did like the fact I could tell the car to turn on the radio or turn down the heating etc.
@@gillchapgc thanks so much for the comment 🙂 and I sincerely hope you enjoy your XC40 as much as we enjoy ours! The feature you’re referring to is Google Assistant and its great! For anyone reading this who is unfamiliar with Google Assistant, it allows you to ask or action something and it will do it (within reason). Simply say "Hey Google" and the command. For example, "Hey Google, turn off the radio" and it will. In fact you can ask it many things, it’s excellent 🙂!
It's getting long in the tooth, with few updates to styling or interior. This is a hard sell relative to the competition. (no wonder the incentives are so high right now)
The Volvo XC40 is an excellent small SUV, but what do you think? Are you planning to get one? Or have you got one already? Let me know below
I’m looking at the XC40 and the GLB…any guidance? I like the look of both!

Hi Pminty5, thanks for the comment 🙂! I absolutely agree and I do exactly the same, it's brilliant!!

@@DonReality Yes that’s right I didn’t know until I checked the specs of the car. I’m test driving a B4 dark plus this week so I can try it properly.
