The most underrated aspect of Pernell's skill set! While Whitaker was renowned for his incredible boxing skills and impeccable defense, he was also a very good offensive fighter with underrated power and great body work so that's what I wanted to focus this highlight on. One of my all time favorite fighters Sweet Pea at his sublime best! www.patreon.com/haNZAgod
He is definitely someone who can be classed as a fighter that had power when they needed it most, as in guys that aren’t known for their power but have underrated enough power to finish guys anyway.
@@Rodageado Definitely I've been wanting to make a highlight of him for quite some time but always have other things in the plans. I'll get on to it at some point though for sure.
Pernell doesn’t get enough credit for his offensive skills, he could put together combinations without compromising his stance just a gifted fighter rest in power “Sweet Pea”.🙏🏽🙏🏽.
Excellent highlight. Sweet Pea was a complete boxer; while he is mostly remembered for his defensive prowess today he had an offensive skillset to match his defensive ones. Easily outjabbing opponents despite orthodox-southpaw awkwardness, smooth assaults to the body, and an inside game that can make even in-fighters back off. You are the only boxing uploader with the eyes to highlight Sweet Pea's versatile offensive game.
Sweet Pete Was legendarily fast On his feet. Had tremendous heart and rarely would retreat. Or ever surrender. Always took on the best contender. We knew what was on his agenda. His fights, we'll always remember. The way he'd ccomplish the task at hand, Attack the body and chop down his man. Of The sweet science, I became a fan. Great tribute video. 👏 RIP SWEET PEA #ATG #LEGEND
Pernell is one of those guys that if I had boxed, I would have wanted to have that kind of skill set. Great vid, and as ever you find the music of a deeper rhythm in the fighter.
Great to finally see a highlight of Whitaker’s work to the body. He seriously gets underrated when it comes to his body punching and in-fighting skills.
The things he does after and between punches is just beyond elite levels of awareness and control. He's using his non punching hand to lock up the arm opposite whatever side he's punching if he doesn't smother or back out at an angle after.👀
Thanks for the top notch content. Sweet Pea was amazing. Floyd Mayweather stated that he’s in his top 5. Watching this vid I can’t def see Sweat Pea in Money Mayweather.
You did it again @haNZAgod ! ... Another banger. 💪🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.. Watching Pernell do his thing w Nas in the background was like watching Michael Jackson or some other ATG in their element. Salute and thanks for the content 🙏🏾

@@tttsharpe8118 So that's the funny thing with Pernell is that his defensive skill set was so exceptional that a lot of people underrate his offensive ability, his body punching was second to none (this is why I covered it in this video.) Was he a knockout artist? Absolutely not but he did hurt and drop many of his opponents, Buddy McGirt the great trainer and great fighter said that he was very surprised by Pernell's power and body punching. Sometimes you really have to watch a fight closely to truly appreciate the greatness of a fighter like Sweet Pea. He wasn't only good defensively, he was good all-round.

Perfect song to match with Pernell.

nasty bodyshots! N.Y. State of Mind 🎶
What made him dangerous as a counter puncher is that he wasn’t just a headhunter.

The fact you chose this music
Only one of the best records of all time regardless of genre🔥🔥🔥

George Benton did a great job with this guy
Love Benton's corner work with Pernell they were a perfect match
@@hanzagod Benton's best students were Whitaker and McCallum, easily
Benton really knew boxing up and down and wasn`t afraid to tell it straight.
@@somewhere6 Boxing needs guys like that today
We need someone like Benton in Europe
Always a great day when you upload especially a routes to the body video.
Amazing fighter!
Thanks for another great video
knew this one was going to be good the second I saw Pernell with Nas starting the video off

The perfect fighter
Only one Pernell Whitaker. Body shots n his movement. Great warrior. Great boxer
Holy shit this is good. Great, great job HaNZA-G. Glorious.
1:23 to 1:25 is probably the best part due to the music lining up perfectly
One of the greatest, he knew how to control on the inside
One of the greats. Incredibly skilled fighter.
The real defensive wizard! Threw combos in the pocket and then make his opponent miss.
Literally could do it all. Skillwise in the top 5 all time.
It's amazing how accurate and relentless his body work was. It shows us another side of a defensive genius
Thank you for still being alive as a channel, can you do about Vinny Pazienza please?)
Sure
🥊Great highlights and music 🎉🎉
Holy crap this guy's a real assassin
Fans only remembered Sweet Pea's great boxing defensive skills, but he could work on the body well. Good job. RIP Sweet Pea.

Царство Небесное Легенда ❤
من افضل ملاكمين في التاريخ
Went all the way up to 154 lbs was only five foot 5-6
So did Manny & Duran, but nowadays all these fighters have excuses
One of the closest intros ever 🥶
The greatest lightweight of all time in my book. He got blatantly robbed against Chávez! Boxing fans will never forget that robbery.
No he was not can't robbed someone when they are running track all fight Chavez won
Pernell was so fast that he could sucker punch someone expecting to get hit.
TBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
❤
PERNELLLLLLLL
He was punishing these dudes possibly the most skilled boxer of all time.
👍👍❤️💯
Prograis video taken down?
Yeah just got taken down unfortunately. Just can't seem to make any videos for modern fighters it gets taken down within a day.
