  • Guys I will be teaching how to use Engineering Calipers, and they will be an important part of most future lessons. You can get the calipers I am using at the following link:
    amzn.to/3QuQNyh
You guys can help me out over at Patreon, and that will help me keep my gear updated, and help me keep this quality content coming:
    / paulmcwhorter
In this class we will be using the Creality Ender 3 V2 Printer. Your life and my life will be easier if we are working on the same hardware. You can pick up your printer on amazon at the following link: [affiliate link]
    amzn.to/3GaGn25
You will also want to stock up on some filament for your printer. I like the eSun PLA. Here is a link to what I am using:
    amzn.to/3yXhYLz
The link shows you can get different colors. I like the orange.
In this lesson we will teach the fundamentals and foundations of 2D sketching in Fusion 360. The battle of Fusion 360 is won or lost at the 2D sketch level. It is not clearly understood or explained by most instructional material. In this lesson, we will provide the framework which will allow you to achieve design success..

Went from Arduino, to Raspberry Pi, to Linux, to now 3D printing with you. I really enjoy your teaching style. Even after only a few lessons, I've successfully created a bracket that fits onto the Creality Ender3 S1 Z-axis armature that I have the webcam mounted to. Stays inline with the print head throughout the whole print. Dang good start.

Wow! This reminds me of the four years of drafting (technical drawing) I did at school in the 1970's. I guess we have to use constraints because first we do the CAD (Computer Aided Design) and then the CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) i.e Get the 3D printer to manufacture it. I would never have imagined doing this when I was at school. This is going to be a fascinating journey Paul.

Actually I dont make the mistakes on purpose but am deliberately not perfectly careful. One of the most important things you can learn is to see how I handle things where there is an error. How to find and fix the errors is the fundamental trait of good engineers.

In CAD, as you know there are hundreds of different ways to do the same thing. Different people gravitate towards different methods. The real experts can always see brilliant ways to use constraints go get what they want much faster than I can. In these beginner lessons, I am just trying to help the new guys see that you can do much of what you want by just using construction lines. I think people who came from the old school days where you actually designed by defining positions and diminsions instead of a drawing gui have an advantage, as they are already thinking in terms of precise dimensions instead of treateing CAD as an art project. Thanks for tuning in.

Nice tutorial, I like your teaching style, you always have a goal in a single lesson. Once the goal is achieved, you have the 'BOM' cheering. That is really encouraging. In the Firmware tutorials, once the code is compiled successfully I can see the BOM; Here, the full constrain triggers the BOM, Thanks for all your videos, they are really help a lot of ppl :) But even though you are so awesome, please do not stand opposite to the silly cat videos :p

It really should be. Back in the day, schools had 'shop' classes and 'Home Ec' classes, that frankly were the most valuable things taught in school. I think things like fusion, 3D printing, laser cutters, Arduinos and circuits should be taught as hands on classes in the tradition of the old shop classes.

Hi Paul .... important question !!
I am on timeline 46:20, Slot creation
When i select Slot in Create, and i move mouse down to the Rectangle, in a half way or so the small Slot's rectangle is moving out from the mouse, as it is lost on the way
I guess it is the first Slot point, because after I click in the rectangle second construction point, the slot is in funny way away from rectangle ....
I restarted Fusion, but nothing better.
When the little Slot rectangle is away, and i move mouse left, right, that rectangle can move to another place and stay, all time it is lost away from mouse,, so i can not point the first Slot construction point
    🤔 .... any idea please ?
I did some tricks, when the small blue slot pointer is lost, o go to the first point in rectangle and i press RIGHT side mouse up to the lost rect is coming to it, than I press LEFT mouse to set the start point of the slot, the second point is normal, click, and later on the size of the slot .... 😁🤪 haha
PS. Paul, could you explain the idea where the sketches are saved, pls pls .... ?
In menu Open, there is only Admin Project, but where is it ? .... somewhere underground 🤔😁

No, I in these lessons I am trying to show how to think, and the mindset needed for effective design and printing. I cant remember keyboard shortcuts because I use too many different programs and platforms. So, those who want the shorcuts can find them. Many times they are shown by the commands on the menus.
