  • Kevin O'Sullivan and Isabel Oakeshott rage over Prime Minister Keir Starmer's plans for a reset with Brussels.
    Sir Keir Starmer has said he discussed his plans to reset relations with France and the European Union as a whole during talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
    The Prime Minister held talks with Mr Macron at the Elysee Palace after meeting some of Team GB’s Paralympic athletes on Thursday morning.
    Sir Keir said of his meeting with the French president: “We discussed the situation in Ukraine, as you would expect, the situation in the Middle East, bilateral issues in terms of trade and defence and security, but also the wider reset that I want in relation to our relations, not just with France, but with the EU in general.
    Kevin says that this is all an attempt to reverse the will of the people. He claims that "Brexit doesn't stand a chance".

I remember reading that the corrupt Ursula Von der Leyen, Michel Barnier, and that awful Emanuel Macron said that Britain was their Treasure Island and and soft market, obviously the corrupt failed European Union are missing the money that the used Britain for. Besides Germany and France are in a worse state than Britain, why liar Keir Starmer is cosying up to the corrupt failed European Union I don't know, but what I do know is it's not for the good of Britain!

    What can you do, when 17million+ Brexit voters don't just get off their bums and vote Reformuk. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith in a political party you normally wouldn't vote for. Or you end up with Labour, who I will guarantee you, if they last to 2029, will have us back in the EU without any vote on it.

      @@trevormannsfield I am not a Reformist. However, I will say that a lot of Reformists/Brexiteers assumed that a reduction in mass immigration was implicit in the demand for Brexit. Unfortunately, they did not spell out their demands with any coherent legal strategy, framework, or tactics, such as leaving ECHR. This is because the Right overall is disorganised and lacks a grounded, directed, collective sense of political, moral and philosophical identity (except perhaps for the extreme Right, who are a liability for the rest of us). Luckily, however, that lack of a cohesive sense of identity and direction is changing, largely due to increasing poverty among the white working class, *mmigrant crimes, gr**ming gangs, the gender cult, lack of housing, soaring rent costs, lack of healthcare, lack of access to jobs based on merit rather than DEI, 'anti-whiteness' racism indoctrination in schools and so on.

We are after all still tied to many of its rules and regulations, while a part of our country is controlled by the Brussels. bureaucrats. But i am sick of the misinformation re. Brexit and immigration. Leaving the EU did stop the mass influx of Europeans, coming mostly form the Eastern nations of Europe. It should also have put a break on all immigration Except our cowardly, duplicitous, self-serving politicians, most of whom never wanted either to leave the EU or halt the influx of immigrants, merely replaced those from Europe with many, if not more from the wider world. Brexit has not been a failure, it was never implemented. Our new PM, a committed EU lover, is intent on nailing down its coffin lid.

Greece’s overall debt is higher, no doubt, and its deficit larger, than those of other countries, but the difference is one of degree, not of kind. Like most of the rest of us, the Greeks have been living beyond their means.
      When the crowd tried to storm the Greek parliament, shouting, “Thieves! Thieves!,” its anger was misdirected. It was a classic case of what Freudians call projection: the attribution to others of one’s own faults. It is true that the Greek politicians are much to blame for the current situation, and no doubt many of them are thieves; but their real crime was not stealing, but offering a substantial proportion of the Greek population a standard of living that was economically unjustified, maintained for a time by borrowing, and in the long run unsustainable, in return for votes. The crime of that substantial proportion of the Greek population was to accept the bribe that the politicians offered; they were only too prepared to live well at someone else’s expense. The thieves were not principally the politicians, but the demonstrators.
      Such popular dishonesty is by no means confined to Greece. In varying degrees, most countries in the West have displayed it, Britain above all. It is perhaps an inherent problem wherever the universal franchise is unaccompanied by widespread virtues such as honesty, self-control, providence, prudence, and self-respect. Greece is therefore a cradle not only of democracy, but of democratic corruption.
      The Greek demonstrators did not understand, or did not want to understand, that if there were justice in the world, many people, including themselves, would be worse rather than better off, and that a reduction in their salaries and perquisites was not only economically necessary but just. They had never really earned their wages in the first place; politicians borrowed the money and then dispensed largesse, like monarchs throwing coins to the multitudes.
      It is an obvious but often forgotten lesson of economics: what cannot continue will not continue.”
      Theodore Dalrymple

      @jakeforder9435 15 дней назад

      I think you'll find that it was a legitimate democratic vote. A betrayal is a violation of a person's trust or confidence, or of a moral standard. The fact that you don't agree with the result doesn't make it a betrayal. The referendum result voted to leave. Any deviance from that result would constitute a betrayal of democracy and would violate public trust. Using terms such as 'crap', 'impossible' and 'betrayal' is deliberately inflammatory and erroneously implies that more than half of Britain is guilty of treachery simply for expressing their opinion by means of a vote

      Leaving the EU has made a difference. EU migration to the UK is down. In fact, it ha been negative: More EU citizens have left the UK than entered. It would be completely silly to assume that Brexit could have had any impact on migration from *outside* the EU. It's even sillier to try and blame the UN for what is entirely of the UK's own making.

    The conservatives and Reform must agree to bring charges against those involved in reserving it. Criminal charges without any form of referendum. Charges that could see Starmer jailed and a number of others involved. Gina Miller should be approached because she said if it was all put into law and made legal and will of people who would accept it. In a bizarre way she made it legally complete. If this is going on with Starmer through the back doorr, I am assuming she will intervene and bring a legal challenge.
