    He seems like a down to earth guy. Really inspirative to see how someone played the match of his life in an olympic event. His performance is a great reminder that everything is possible :)

    Ryu was lighting fast. With speed glue, his forehand was simply the best in the world. None of the Chinese players ever reached his level in terms of forehand power. After winning the gold medal, people began training more specifically to counter his style of play, and his backhand weakness gradually revealed.

      @@muhammadsohaibimran1402 True, the biggest downfall of perfect footwork is that it is very taxing on the body, and as you get older it will start to deteriorate. He was able to cover the full table with his forehand, but as he got older he had to start using more of that awkward backhand.

    For a pro Korean player who doesn't live abroad and didn't really go to school up until early 2010s, I have to say I'm impressed by his English. Always admires pro sports player who pursues education after retiring. Maybe tries a little harder to keep his weight down then that would be golden LOL

      U should wonder Ur thosands old diet that consists of "mostly meat base diet with bread (both provides OVERLY needs calroies N so much protein that was meant for survival of dealy bone chilling n shierving ice age, recall modern temperture is much higher now compared to then ice age is scientific fact indeed" and such traidtional so much protein n over calroies ended up producing original white Europeans, middle east diet is very rich as well, that make U bigger n taller with lots of hairs N table tennis is very small size unlike tennis court. U should say equally n farirly how many Asian man EVER won tennis grand slam? As far as I know BIG zero, nada. THERE shoudl NOT be anything winnering except mostly small people moves fast due to their small physical stature, (it teaks 10,000 years to make EVEN very small change in our DNA n corresponding to other organs...), and able to do that easier than big fat, fact, tall Europeans in general, and occationally good players from Sweeden, Denmark like Walderner won, but now Asians know how to deal with their power. Unlke tennis TT is speed based on from onset, not after ball has been hit like tennis and first two strokes decides if U are not able to move such speed reflex... SO, STOP wishing for WRONG reasons U petty minded ... THE second fact U must NOT ever forget is there is FAR more Asian players playing in the Asian countreis and people are watching n the rest unlike Europe where table tennis gets little attention, sponsoership, and the rest... Starting 2022 there will be DOUBLE prize money for table tennis players, but still far smaller than tennis which generate bigger injury due to much bigger ball, return with much force and swing so much bigger rakcet all ended up ijuring lots of players and due to VERY generious pay out, again compared to TT, so many would be tennis pros players compertition is brutual; so small stature Asian tennis players is fraction n even bigger guys seems to be less powrful and the rest and may be afromentioend Asian plyaers are not meant to be that tall and moving body speed is somewhat slower... Food 4 thougt. Be greatful for spending time 4 U from the western region of the USA. Pls accept syntax errors n do not feel like take another time to fix...

    Olympic means not much really.
    Not that I want to minimize the victory of Ryu Seung Min, but it's just one major victory in one single even.
    Don't forget, in the first place, that Ryu never reach Wang Hao's level in reality.
    In fact, except Wang liqin and Ma long, no one achieve Wang Hao's prodigious career, ever.

    • @dreiz.
      @dreiz. 8 лет назад +20

      I agree, he might have had a moment where he played 110% and that was his moment. Wang Hao was absolutely unstoppable during his prime but Ryu had an insane FH. Memorable match.

    • @gdounito
      @gdounito 8 лет назад +4

      although it may sound crazy : I believe wang hao had a better and consistent career in overall titles than WLQ. 3 world cups out of 5 final appearances, 4 of them in consecutive years !
      wlq only one appearance in world cup final and lost to samsonov. 3 olympic finals and 4 wttc finals , WLQ no olympic final and 4 wttc finals. wang hao also had better head to head in important matches. he is for me the unluckiest chinese, I suppose LGL always liked more players like ma lin and zhang jike, but its just my speculation.
